    Hey Coach! I love your content, and I look forward to the new stuff you put out!
    My kid (a Junior to be) is on summer break. He just finished up his track season ... his one and only attempt at an organized sport ... ever. He loves track, and it seems to be the one thing he is starting to become passionate about over the last 3 or 4 months.
    He is a 400 / 800 guy, and at this point in time I would say he is a "garden variety" runner: Bests for this past season as a Sophomore have been a 60.5 and a 2:17:00. However, I really think he is capable of *way* better times for next season and beyond into his Senior year.
    With all that said, would you be willing to put together a Workout Program for him to follow over Summer Break? I'd be more than happy to pay you for a creative 8 - 12 week Program. Maybe this is something you can loosely design in 15 - 20 min?
    I f you're interested, just let me know how to get in touch with .
    Thanks,
    Jaxson

      I charge $150 an hour for a consult, $500 a month for remote training. Let me know if interested. Tony.Holler@yahoo.com

    Hello Tony, thanks for the videos. I have trained my competitive 16 year old soccer team with your x factor drills and speed work before training for the past 2 months and I have seen a significant difference:) I also agree with your philosophy of letting the game train the game of which I do as well. This next season I will be coaching a under 8 soccer team. Would there be any difference in X factor drills and speed work? Or is there a different approach to such a young age in your expertise and knowledge? Much appreciated Tony, you are a inspiration and I enjoy your videos very much and the wealth of knowledge and wisdom you bring. Thanks

      No difference. Young kids won’t jump as high, jump as far, or sprint as fast, but they need it just the same.

      The same as in Soccer. Your awesome Tony, thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated:)

    Im training on my own this summer. I wanted to work more on my technique, drive phase, and acceleration since i have a pretty good top end speed and strong push at the end . I also wanted to become more lean ,lose body fat%, explosiveness, power out the blocks ,but at the same time our strength coach for my college sends out workouts for us for the summer and I don't know which of these I should focus on more since last yr i was in hs and this was my 1st yr in college so I can start off better next year because i went from 11.15 in hs to 11.34 in college(barely go it, I struggled all season). Idk if it was a coaching style change or what but either way, i just wanted to know what was better to focus on to start off the yr at my faster time or faster than that?

    should lactate work be done 2time or only 1 time per week during the season or only once for example
    mon-speed
    tue-lactate
    wed-x factor
    thur-x factor
    fri-speed
    sat-rest
    sun-rest
    or should i replace the speed session on friday to lactate workout specifically training for the 400m sprint.

    How often are you sprinting in summer? For athletes that will be with you in fall

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zero… my sprinters play football, run summer track with my jumps coach, or they do whatever the hell they want to do.

      @@coachtonyholler fair! I’m at new program that doesn’t have culture yet so only a few football players have been on track recent years… my plan this summer is to have my non-fb sprint kids focus on becoming better movers, doing some Plyos, playing some games, hit some sleds or hills here and there

  • @simoncooksey

    Do you have your athletes do any sort of cooldown after your workouts? I’m training on my own this summer and I feel like I should af least do some stretching after

      Nope. We just go home.

      @@coachtonyholler do you think there isn’t a place for stretching in training whether that’s after a workout or a few hours later?

      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@simoncooksey Maybe for “runners”… not for sprinters or jumpers. Stretched rubber bands don’t shoot as far.

      @@simoncookseyyou know stretching revers back to the tightens muscle in 4 hours and removes elasticity

      So just curious, does that mean distance runners shouldn’t stretch aswell?

    Coach, are tempo runs a no-no, and if so what should one do instead of them?

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a no-no, but we did only 2 abbreviated tempo sessions in the pre-season. We do x-factor instead.

    I was researching off-season training to perform this summer. I was thinking about plyometrics because I’m trying to train my bounciness for pole vault and high jumping. Do you think I should integrate jumping and sprint training or does that take away from the essentialism idea?

    I understand the principles but what are the progressions do you just do the same thing

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same things, different metrics, different lactate workouts, and x-factor is totally varied. We progress from building a base of speed and power to sprinting further (lactate work).
