I know some pod casters that want to make it a U-23 camp which to me makes no sense a year and a half out from the World Cup. MLS maybe a weaker league but there are individuals that can contribute to the USMNT that are from that league. Everyone can recall Zimmerman's beautiful pass to Pulisic against Mexico or Miles Robinson scoring the winner against Jamaica.
@@RickyRicardo84 Yeah, I do too. I recall Christian's miss early in the game against the Netherlands. European and MLS based players will have bad plays on occasion. Bale does have a Mr Clutch gene it seems.
Zimmerman was also terrible in the Olympics.. as an overage player against not even the best U-23s. In MLS, you have more time and space on the ball, and can get away with mistakes that would punish you in tougher leagues. This is fine as a spring board for young players, but not as a final destination for someone with national team aspirations, as they get used to these lenient conditions that are not present at the highest levels. That's just the truth. The goal is not to beat a weak Mexico or dysfunctional Jamaica, but to compete against the Germany's and Uruguay's of the world, and eventually win a world cup. To do that, you need your players playing at the highest levels. Zimmerman, Miles, White, etc. are not going to magically become capable of playing against the best in the world suddenly. But the U-23 players such as Luna at least have a small chance to do so in the future.
@@bryseisme2 You have to be realistic about our depth chart especially in the back line. Jedi and assuming Dest makes a full recovery those two. Looking at CB's Mckenzie might be our starter come 26. Camp cupcake isn’t what it used to be. It was needed back when US relied on players from the MLS to make up a third to half of the roster.
