I have a question : I only heard bad stuff about WVirginia. But I, weirldy enough, am an European that loves West Virginia because is the state that resembles the most my home area. I talk about mountains, forgotten places, rural areas positioned in remote areas, away from the hustle and bussle(and crime) of big cities, clean air (this is only the natural part) and also I find the hard working class of coal miners and fallen industry to be very familiar. Is true that when a major industry is falling, life goes hard for everyone. I saw west Virginia having lots of abandoned or poorly maintained houses, so does my area, many children taken away from toxic families, same to my area, rural areas that somewhat hold a tradition of being mountain men that endure harsh winters and lots of work in the summer. I very sad about West virgina being ranked so low so my question is:I know that there must be something good and special in this state, what is it? What is something that wv people can feel proud for not being like the other states? Is it true that the crime rate and occurrences are rarer than places like detroit or new York or Los Angeles?
A friend of mine was traveling through St. Louis, needed gas, and wound up in a sketchy part of town. She stops and asks some guy for directions and he looks over, shakes his head, and says "You really shouldn't be here."

They give tax money (And it's not only yours) to buy influence so that foreign monetary policy can continue. In essence the US$ remaining the world trading and most used currency by far. It enables the US treasury the ability to keep printing US$ without the resulting inflation taking place in the US like it does in every other country that creates money out of thin air (Think Zimbabwe/Venezuela) . The money the US gives away costs the US government nothing , it is made up money. Sure it devalues all the USD already out there but more than 2/3 of actual greenbacks in circulation are outside the US. So it's really an indirect tax (Devaluing the USD) with more than 2/3 being collected from the rest of the world not from with in the USA but 100% being created in the USA. Up till the USA is giving away or is using over 2/3 of the printed from thin air FIAT currency it creates to benefit others , then it is still on a positive return game. Why do you think it is so important to keep the USD as the world's reserve currency? Think Saddam and his invasion of Kuwait , that didn't prompt his removal. He was allowed to carry on ruling .However when he said he was switching from selling oil in USD to other payment forms he had to go. Weapons of mass destruction being the official reason but later admitted that there were none.Think Muammar Al- Qaddafi , who even admitted to taking down a US civilian aircraft (Pan Am 103) over Lockerbie . That was no reason to remove him. However when he said he was to stop selling oil in USD it would be his downfall. Mass military exercise had him removed and killed . It's like having a credit card that you only have to bay 1/3 of the bill on and other people have to pay 2/3. How cool is that and to what lengths will you go to keep that arrangement. Sure you need to pay all sorts of bills to keep all those around the globe in agreement to let this carry on. It may even take having hundreds of military bases if far flung places and giving aid here and there but it is a balancing act really. When it's done right it promotes global stability and when not exactly the opposite. it however can not be viewed by looking at the smaller picture.

My neighbour is American. He immigrated here (Australia) in the early 90s after marrying an Australian. I asked him why on earth he would leave the states. He came from a rural part of Illinois and said that it was going downhill at that time and when he goes back once or twice a year to visit family he said its depressing. He said he moved around a fair bit in the military and liked Hawaii but said the homelessness and poverty is getting bad there too. I’ve travelled to the US 4 times and been through about 30-35 states. I’ve enjoyed each trip but the amount of poverty is something that always shocked me. It’s sad because other than that, I love the US.
@@Mattb81 comparing to the country where I’m originally from and where I live now, the USA is far from being poor. Hate to say it but even if we gave $0 for foreign aid the "saved" money would not be redirected to help Americans. It is a problem of capitalism and the demonizing of the poor imo.
All kidding aside, what can be done to improve people’s lives in this country.? It is shameful that in a country so wealthy, so many of our citizens are caught in a desperate cycle of living
Americans are "nations of one", kings and queens without subjects". Why do some insist on living like serfs on the public plantation. Sad state of affairs as America is the wealthiest nation in the world, simply because it protects freedom. Obviously that doesn't include the US citizen.
Go back to having the same tax cuts as we did decades ago for the wealthy and stop giving them welfare. Trickle down economics repackaged by republicans is not efficient
The citizens themselves need to ignore the government and start cleaning up their neighborhoods, and this has been happening before, for example there were youtube videos on communities in Detroit cleaning up their neighborhoods sidewalks and lawns. At the very least, we can make the place look nicer first and figure out what we can do from there. If we wait for the big gov or big corps to invest or care about our neighborhoods, you'll be waiting another 100 years and no help will ever come. People have been abandoned by gov and the mega corps.
@Ed Miller He's the Senator Trump tried to call during the insurrection to try to get him to slow down the certification of the electoral votes. While rioters were seeking to kill Pence and Pelosi, Trump was only interested in delaying the certification.
It's important to have these things laid out in front of people. I live in SC and while we did move down from 6 to 8 on this list, I think a big part of the problem is that people don't want to make any major changes. They want to keep wearing the shades and pretend everything is fine and tell people to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and fix it themselves. While I do support that (it does take effort by everyone, not just one or two people), the problem is that there's no unified vision for everyone to play a part in fixing it and without that, we're going to keep having good parts of SC that people want to move to, and the rest of the state gets seen as lazy with everyone only wanting to fix things for themselves. It's trickier than it should be to convince people of all the good things they can have when everyone prospers.

Yes, we are a poor state because our entire economy was based on coal, but people come here to retire for a reason. Our highest crime rates are in those druggy communities, but we still have one of the lowest crime rates in the nation. The rest of the State is the safest place I've ever been. I left my keys on the tailgate of my brand new Toyota Tacoma for an entire weekend, right in the middle of our small town, and no one stole my truck.

Damn...after that rural Alabama news headlines I want to learn about those rural towns. Can you make a video for worst rural areas and small towns in the south?
its weird. i grew up in hawaii, lived in texas for 5 years and just now moved to mid missouri (although used to these parts as my dad is born and raised here). i will say, hawaii was most beautiful, texas was very friendly, but missouri, hands down is the easiest to make a decent living in out of the three; which is contrary to what is said in this video. the jobs arent the most extravagant, but it's the mecca for working class work. it can be rather easy to live on your own out here due to the low cost of living. It was much easier to get a job with 40+ hours and benefits in comparison to my experience in Texas. issue comes, if you want more than that and want to make something more of yourself than a working wage.
I mean it’s good videos like this exist to shed light on situations, it’s had for steering anyone away even in a touristy sense that can bring.. some income into said area. It would be great if car plants and online companies opened distribution warehouses in places like this to give it a fighting chance. I know it takes way more than that to fix a decaying area.

Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico have two things in common, they made the list of the 10 worst places to live in the US and they all surround Texas.
Probably the reason why they haven't had growth because Texas has alot of money and they have no state taxes plus more to offer to big large companies that want to relocate.

Make churches and billionaires pay their just share of taxes.
You are not very smart are you
They give tax money (And it's not only yours) to buy influence so that foreign monetary policy can continue.
Tell your government to stop bombing other countries
You forgot to tell folks about 15.5 million to Pakistan for Gender studies.
I get so sad when i see all these run down states in what should be the richest country in world.
These images on the video are literally the worst places you can film in America. The vast majority of the country is beautiful and rich. Still, there is poverty like anywhere else.
Excellent as always! My husband and I are addicted to your channel! A great sense of humor combined with very good information. We look forward to seeing more of your videos.

As an European I can't believe that some places in the USA are even worse than the worst places in Southern part of Europe, like Italy, Spain or Yugoslavia. Sad enough!
Worse places to live in america is every where. The whole country has gone to hell. Most people will end up homeless or in prison.🇺🇸💀
well at least if you are in prison you will get the covid vaccine well ahead of the elderly, veterans, children, etc. It's been a meme that you should commit a low level crime to get your vaccine faster.
I'm a vet, and the VA sent me an email saying 'don't call us, we will call you' yet inmates in our state prison are already receiving their shots.

I can appreciate how much u emphasized the ridiculousness of billions being sent elsewhere.

P.S. it took me just a month of living in Oklahoma City to get depressed. The worst place I’ve ever lived in in my life... besides Fresno 😂🙈
Totally agree - but Salinas is worse
I'm currently living in fresno and planning to move to either Oregon or Washington state.
@@dragonvue09 good choice! Fresno isn’t great and there is nothing to do there :(
My neighbour is American.
A lot of people do really live on minimum wages but at least the country is developed and you can afford more in the USA than in Ukraine, for example.
But if you compare the USA with Switzerland, Australia or UAE, we’ll, then I can say that the USA is far from being rich.
Hate to say it but even if we gave $0 for foreign aid the "saved" money would not be redirected to help Americans. It is a problem of capitalism and the demonizing of the poor imo.
yeah that's a nice little story
but politicians have their priorities set in stone
like sending billions in aid to Israel
@A.C. A. well said A.C.A.

@Ed Miller he's a senator from Alabama now, not a Q anon suppporter though
@Ed Miller No, he was just elected to the U.S. Senate.
West Virginia, Oklahoma, New Mexico are not in the SEC. Missouri only joined in 2012.
@Ed Miller He's the Senator Trump tried to call during the insurrection to try to get him to slow down the certification of the electoral votes. While rioters were seeking to kill Pence and Pelosi, Trump was only interested in delaying the certification.
I’m a truck driver & yes, GA has some messed up traffic! It’s rough 24/7! 😂

I live in West Virginia. Most West Virginians don't live like this. This is mostly in the southern and extreme western part of the State where drug use has been allowed to ruin entire communities.
Another informative video Nick. I thought the opening the closet aspect of the video was BRILLIANT. Loved that. It shows that no matter how negative a situation is, you still can find a little positivity. 👏😁
Damn...after that rural Alabama news headlines I want to learn about those rural towns. Can you make a video for worst rural areas and small towns in the south?

What that mean?
My homes are all the worst states
East st Louis is in Illinois and the rest is bad Springfield, St Louis, Kansas City and Troy, they all suck
As usual, great job and pretty accurate I must say...love this channel!
its weird. i grew up in hawaii, lived in texas for 5 years and just now moved to mid missouri (although used to these parts as my dad is born and raised here). i will say, hawaii was most beautiful, texas was very friendly, but missouri, hands down is the easiest to make a decent living in out of the three; which is contrary to what is said in this video. the jobs arent the most extravagant, but it's the mecca for working class work. it can be rather easy to live on your own out here due to the low cost of living. It was much easier to get a job with 40+ hours and benefits in comparison to my experience in Texas. issue comes, if you want more than that and want to make something more of yourself than a working wage.
It's easier for a politician to get a kickback from a foreign country then from a state.
Good to see you are back in your groove as tourism secretary. 😂😂
Great video as always, Nick. So incredibly depressing though. I guess NC isn't so bad afterall. *sigh*

Stuff like this makes me appreciate living in my crappy city, and this is coming from somebody that was born and raised in Mew Mexico
Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico have two things in common, they made the list of the 10 worst places to live in the US and they all surround Texas.
Great point!
Probably the reason why they haven't had growth because Texas has alot of money and they have no state taxes plus more to offer to big large companies that want to relocate.
There purple. And the dems are going to screw there oil business
I remembered a weird man asking me to marry so that he could get out of Missouri, which later I found out he was 15😶 Wish the kiddo the best tho😅
I find New Mexicans so friendly and kind. People in DC were like, "We are busy! Do you understand English?" But people in NM helped me a lot saying, "That's okay we can help you. We got stuck in here and there was nothing to do here anyway." 🤣
So im confused about what people are fighting about because no matter who's in the white house what has really been done to help America
A) prior to.
Jobs were created.
Fuel prices dropped
Some industries stayed in America and as results jobs were created. Those industries went over seas? Were fine for the unemployed left behind.
2) Currently no jobs.
B) Industrues are now packing and leaving overseas.
C) Jobs are being cut down.
D) Natural resources are now imported as to prior to this date America flooded the fossil fuel worldwide causing fuel prices at home to drop. Tell me if anything its wrong here?
If you remove emotion, personality, and look objectively, the last occupant of the White House really did a LOT to help the average American. Unemployment was down to statistical zero. Prices of goods and commodities had dropped. Industry was coming back. Stable, long lasting jobs that paid well. We were energy independent - no more need for endless middle east wars. Yes, his tax cuts DID help despite Pelosi screaming otherwise. The average middle class American saved about 3%, or $2-3,000 per year. That is HUGE especially when prices are also low.
Oh, and I forgot the most important part. He was the first president in decades to NOT START A NEW WAR. In fact he tried to STOP the endless, expensive wars and bring our troops home. Congress said "nuh uh, we want more wars!" and blocked him
The democrats giveth and the Republicans taketh away
