I bought a four piece shell pack of this same kit from my uncle years ago and managed to restore three of the shells :) old late 70's model in the same blue. Great sounding set, you did a great job bringing her back to life!

Back in the late 70’s when I started playing I was practically given a Vistalite Ludwig set, and I sold it and bought a nice Slingerland set (I’m a huge Bill Ward fan)... I kept the snare and the pedal tho... it did have a nice hard sound that I could never find anywhere else. I haven’t played for years but I love your passion. Thanks again...

When my original spurs for my 76’ Vista finally bit the dust I went for those DW mountable ones that go right on the hoop. now that I know the ones you got...I may switch them out. Also that decal is fantastic! 👍🏻👌🏻
Order some Novus 1-2-3 polish off of Amazon. With an 8" orbital polisher, that thing will shine like a new penny. If you need to see results, go to YT polishing a Vistalite (Wally Dellenbach). FB also has a Vistalite Drums page that can help you find everything you need. If you are serious about the Jellybean kit, the Buying/Selling Vintage Drums page can help.
The black hoops definitely contrasts the blue very nicely...But on the reso head I think no port would have been the way to go ....It would have gotten a much bigger rounder sound...BONZO STYLE!!
Hi David, I realize that this vid is 4 years old but would you still happen to have that Rogers XP floor tom used in this segment? I have an XP8 kit in Mist Blue ( an impossible color to find.. just my luck) that is missing the floor tom. Would you be willing to sell that particular drum? Regards,

Nice project! Although I have to say, as the original owner of a 1973 blue Vistalite kit, it's illegal to use anything but white vinyl lug gaskets on these drums. :)

My kit is in good condition five-piece 1978 is only year I got the 24-inch Kick Drum not the 26 like Bonhams had a 26 mine was made Batman a thousand dollars I seen him for about 4,000 5000 you know on the Inn on the internet complete kit like that you know blue is the most common color so that's to make it not work as much Minds like the rarest color and run over a set just like mine in The Blues Brothers in the mall scene
What material are you using to make the gaskets, please? We have a vinyl-cutter, and I could use some replacements :) Also, is that a 'Silhouette' plotter you are using?
I think the bass drum spurs you used are an upgrade, as far as stability. I never liked the curved legs...too much wobble. Great work, beats, and video, as always!! So glad I subscribe!
@@sticksbass I'm sure you're right. The more I think about it, the last time I played a Ludwig with those curved legs was my grade school when I was about 10 years old. Didn't know enough how to adjust them and probably had the resonant side of the drum too far off the floor, causing the wobble.
the only way it can wobble is if the legs aren't out enough. if things are strong enough i like to raise the resonant side up a little so the legs are weighted and spiked into the carpet so it wont creep. the way most legs are now i worry about the smooth rods slipping.
My experience playing with a vista was always that the bass drums legs were a bit shite. Could be down to me setting them up badly but i did find them to be a bit on the wobbly side.
Maybe you mentioned this and I just missed it, but what size is it? It looks like a 24. Take out the laundry, put a felt strip across the front and let her BOOM!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
David, What did you use to remove the logo? My high school bass drum line removes the logo when we get new heads. We use finger nail polish remover but it takes forever.
