- In this episode of Muttn-Journeys, I've always wanted to go to Boswells Pipes and Cigars shop so I kidnapped Mike from BBG and drove the 8-hours to see one of the best pipe shops I've ever been to. I hope you enjoy the tour.

My deepest and sincerest condolences Chris on the loss of your Mother. Thank you for the tour. It's on my list of stops on my upcoming pipe pilgrimage.
I live in Florida, but summer in Maine. On the trip north this spring, we stopped at Boswell’s in Chambersburg. What a great place! Their tobaccos are fantastic and their selection of pipes is unparalleled. While in New England, I also visit LJ Peretti in Boston each year. It is the oldest tobacco shop in the U.S. and now over 153 years old. Their tobaccos are great too. I am happy to put Boswell’s in that same category. Great shop, and I plan to stop there twice a year as I travel between states. I will be stocking up each time!
I just purchased a JM Boswell Churchwarden, it’s amazing and the customer service was outstanding.

Hey Muttn! Cheers from Australia. We have lost all these wonderful places here in Australia, nanny state as we are. Anyway, loving the vids and advice. Glad to have found you upon your return, and I am sorry for your family's recent difficulties. It seems you have a great community of genuine and decent people. A rarity on the internet.
I had the opportunity to visit the Alexandria store today and meet JM. He and his staff were great and super friendly. I ended up picking up one of his pipes and a few ounces of several of his blends. I popped into the smokers lounge and everyone was super friendly. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend stopping in. I will def make the trek again in the future.

As a young subscriber, that lived as an American in the Middle East from here and there, without any pipe tobacco shops. I can tell you what. Never feels better than walking into a tobacco shop filled pipe tobacco and pipes, also with a shiny colt on the side.

Addendum: I lost my mother on December 23, 1993, so Christmas has been a little tough for me since then. Getting better, 'though. My condolences.

@@MuttnchopPiper There arent very many near me where I am in Ontatrio, but there is Baracoa Cigars in London. They have a decent selection of tobaccos, but no where in my area seems to have a good selection of pipes. Most tobacco shops here carry some pipe tobacco but are set up mostly as cigar shops. As a fairly new pipe smoker its been challenging to expand my palate and see what I enjoy. if I ever find a good pipe shop around here I'll be sure to comment the location, just incase you're ever up north!

I received my first Boswell pipe in 1981. I’ve been a customer ever since. Great selection, great staff, and always a great experience. Luckily, I travel up I-81 a few times a year. I always make plans to stop.
You mom looked like a movie star. MC thanks so much for introducing me to the marvelous world of piping.
After watching this, I decided to go to Boswells for my birthday this last weekend. What a lovely store! I ended up buying a free hand and it's the most beautiful pipe I own. And Northwoods is a great blend. I love It. Thanks for this! I live in DC so it's not too far.
I go here every now and again, the owners are amazing people. My brother was a regular and they’d always give the best service. 💜 much love y’all
I noticed the Harley sticker on the windshield, I used to take keep an otter box humidor in my saddlebag, for cigars. Converted to a pipe-ready box now and perfect for taking in a view while on a little adventure. Thank you for your videos! Thank you for serving!

When you indicated some German people might get jealous seeing this indeed beautiful store, I initially thought "hm, pretty comparable to some I know here in Germany" BUT THEN when you showed that super comfy smoker's lounge upstairs... yes, yes, that is a thing to be jealous of, it can't be denied. just... whow!

I’ve been enjoying a lot of Boswells blends these days. Been hanging out in an old building downtown Los Angeles, staring out the window past the fire escape; smoking the lovely Boswell Aromatics to please the other people in the building. They love the smell. Dan’s Blend and Majestic 586 are incredibly good. May your beautiful mother, rest in the glory of eternity.

I ordered the first 3 months worth of Blend Club 2022, and as a brand new pipesmoker, I'll say I'm really enjoying Cupcake. My wife even let me smoke it upstairs while we played a boardgame last night, so WOO!!!!

Great video and Today on my way back from traveling stopped at the Alexandria store, met JM, and had a wonderful time there. Left with pipe, tobacco, and more. JM was so inviting and my family (all adults now) really enjoyed meeting him and seeing all he does. As you stated, the best pipe shop.

Got my first order of Boswell's Northwoods a couple of months ago and I love it! I'm a pretty new pipe smoker and missed out on the McClelland wonderfulness, however many online have said Northwoods is about the closest you will get to Frog Morton Cellar. Since I can't compare, I will take their word for it and look forward to the Blend Club review! I live about the same driving range to Boswell as you do I think, I am already plotting my trip!

I was so close to Boswells a few years ago and wanted to stop but just couldn't fit it in at the time. My loss I know. I live in Pa. so perhaps I'll make it back one day in the near future. I heard that their Northwoods blend is pretty special! As I'm sure other blends are as well.
So sorry for the loss of your Mom. Mine has been passed many years now and believe me, Your Mom will never be far from your side.

Being a Pennsylvania native I've been to Boswell's both locations many times. I guess I take it for granted but the look of joy on your face is heartwarming. You truly are like a happy child in a candy store lol.
That's true, that's how it felt, but it was more like visiting the North Pole, and walking around in Santa's Workshop. :)

Well this was really something to just show up in my feed. I have missed your last couple videos so I need to start searching for them and make sure they show up in my feed. Anyway, the amazing thing is I literally just placed an order for Boswells Northwoods no more than 2 hours ago! What a coincidence!
What a great video. I would love to visit the store myself someday. Maybe with retirement coming in a couple years I can do a little traveling and head that direction from my Kansas home base. One other old pipe/ tobacco shop I would like to visit is Pauls Pipe Shop in Flint Michigan. Their custom house blend of Arrowhead pipe tobacco one of my favorites. If nothing else you might check their website out for fun.

I was recently introduced to your channel, as I am just now starting out on pipe smoking. I have just recently purchase a corn cob pipe from Missouri Meerschaum along with their Independence Day blend tobacco. I have been doing research over the past few weeks and your videos have thoroughly help and I have really enjoyed just sitting back watching and learning. Thanks for all the great advice, videos, and also the field trips. Can't wait to start my journey in pipe smoking and also can't wait for more new content! Hey Mutton, I just want to say thank you for your videos. I bought my first pipe the other day because of you. I've been smoking cigars for a little while now, but wanted to give pipes a try. Opened TH-cam and boom, there you were. Your voice is so soothing, and your instructions are highly detailed. Thank you for the inspiration, and I look forward to learning so much more. Wonderful place, thanks for sharing the video! In my neck of the woods here in Alberta Canada we have a similar brick and mortar Tobacconist store. Perhaps not as extensive as Boswell's but definitely pulls off the same vibe. I absolutely love these places. 👍🏻👏🏻
