      I came here to see which new guitars sucked in 2024. Reading comprehension must go up!

    I bought a Gretsch Electromatic 5420 in blue (same one you’re holding). It took me a minute to get a handle on it but now that I have I’m loving it.

    I thought it said guitars that suck. lol Saw the Squier and thought … What? Then I read it correctly. Ahhhhh OK I got a few Squiers that stuck. Feeling I should have popped on the 12. Must resist the gas!

    Happy New Year Joe. You are providing a service to me as I am a recovering gear buying addict. Well semi recovering as I bought 3 guitars in December. Oh well. Nice collection and keep them coming in 25 as I enjoy living vicariously through you.

    I have the same Blue gretch you got. Only difference was mine's a little bit darker blue. It was some kind of guitar center special. It didn't sell and at the end of the year it was a closeout sale so I got a great deal on it. One of the rare guitars I kept from guitar center haha

    Nice! That is one heck of a little collection of guitars - & a representation of some fine work in 2024. Love most of these guitars. In fact, I have a couple of em.' I've got the Special Edition Flame Maple Squier Telecaster. Nice guitar. And I have the Blue Gretsch Electromatic, which is a PHENOMENAL guitar. The thing absolutely rocks, and will literally do anything you want it to do. I almost ha that Surf Pearl Strat... I was seconds from it- but changed my mind last second... for the Trans Red one with Pao Ferro board.

    I have a couple of Tele copies that have that low profile bridge plate, I am not so keen on them even though they are more comfortable, I don't know whether it is the pickups or that bridge but they don't seem to have as much of the twang as my models with the traditional bridge, you are correct about the neck pickups though, they are muddy although can be cleared up a little with some EQ, I have a partscaster I put together that has a humbucker in the neck and a Fender US Standard that I converted to a P90 in the neck and has a Texas Special in the bridge, they sound much better!

    Awesome budget guitar collection. I have a Martin OOOX1E from MF STOD for $399 early 2020. A few more deals over the years. Also a Martin GPC road series special for $699 in early 2021. Great guitars without breaking the bank. Happy New Year Joe.

    Those PRS SE CE 24s are fantastic guitars for the money. I picked up the maple topped version for $559 on sale last year and I love it. Love your Gretsch's too, I have a Streamliner and two Electromatics and they are very well made. Also picked up a Guild Starfire 12 last year for around $600. So many excellent guitars in the $400 to $700 range now.

      Sell to buy.

  • @GWBridge
    @GWBridge 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I love the channel and the emphasis. I also like you a lot personally, Joe. I'm wondering what the overall message is that the guitars you decided to keep were the more expensive ones tested (with the exception of the white strat). Granted these are not hugely expensive guitars, but they are not the doorbuster ones that got great reviews. So, do the "name brand" guitars have intrinsically better materials, fit and finish? Is there an "investment" factor here in that name brand guitars are easier to sell and get a decent return later on? What does this say about the Indios, the IYVs, the Grotes and other guitars in the new wave of inexpensive imports? Surely what you keep is up to you and reflects your tastes and what you found to be special for whatever reason. Just wondering if we can draw any conclusions based upon what you chose to keep. Have a great 2025, and keep the videos coming!

      It has mostly to do with what I get back on the resale. I am constantly churning guitars- so , without any sponsors "gifts", I am trying to stay ahead of my "losses". 🙂Hope you and the family have a Happy New Year brother!

      With a much less volume of new guitars. This pace is not sustainable without sponsors. 🙂Have a Happy New Year Helena!

    Curious as to whether you have ever run the numbers on all your guitars combined and come up with the average percentage saved. I know you spend a lot of time searching, buying, reviewing, making videos, reselling, etc. to inform us, and from the outside looking in it appears that it has paid off. Meaning collectively your collection is an assortment of name brands (or name “knowns”), compared to what you started with when you began. Just wondering what you think now. Would you be doing this even if you didn’t have a channel? Has it been a good hobby for you or is it sometimes just a business? Is it possible to still buy, flip, and get better guitars? Or was it ever that way? Thanks again for all you do.

    • @AJgeartalk
      @AJgeartalk  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I was doing this long before my channel. 😀. It is a losing proposition (monetarily) and I don't recommend it. It is a fun "hobby", though. Be well.

    Squiers may be OK, but they're not for me. I'm not a (frettiing hand) thumb hanger, I play classical style (thumb behind the back), and I've learned the hard way that their necks a waay too thin for my comfort - sorry, my Vintera II Nocaster it is for me. Kudos for Gretsches (I have two of them [Country Club and a G5222 Double Jet]).
