    I don't expect an F2L beginner to know this. During F2L, there will be a lot of pauses because you have to look and plan the next pair. There is also something called Look Ahead when you can plan out your next pair while solving another one. You can also do this on other steps.
    Here is the important part though: If the cuber doesn't average around 25 seconds or lower, don't start Look Ahead yet as it will make you worse. Look Ahead is good if you have enough experience to the cube and that you can easily recognize cases. A cuber like Turtle, he is more advanced and faster out of the other family members. Turtle can start practicing Look Ahead because I think it's a good thing to learn as you are improving as a Sub-20 cuber. I average around 17 seconds, started on Look Ahead, and found it really helpful. However, I don't recommend Look Ahead for cubers averaging longer than 25 seconds. It will just distract you. Sorry if this was a long read.
