ANYONE who owns a 10% or more stake in a publicly traded company is considered an insider or 144 filer and subject to insider trading laws as well as their ownership, trades, positions in said company, etc become public public record. The issue with investing in ANY Chinese company whether it’s via individual equity positions, via a mutual fund, or any other investment vehicle is that China is a very secretive country as it pertains to the public release of information, especially pertaining to any and all relevant matters required to make an informed investment decision. This is the number one reason China is still considered an emerging market even though they have one of the most developed economies in the world.
