I shadowed an orthopedic surgeon in the clinic today and it was awesome to see the interaction between him and his patients. It just furthered my desire to become an orthopedic surgeon! To others out there with the same passion, go shadow!
I want to do that so bad I am shadowing an anesthesiologist soon because we know her personally. But I heard that you have to be 14+ to shadow a surgeon? Correct me if I am wrong I am only 11.😂🤷🏾♂️
I love these "How to become" videos, Dr. Webb. I don't know if you take requests but if you do, can you do one on how to become an infectious disease specialist? If so, that would be fantastic. Keep up the good work!
That moment in life when you don't see yourself doing any other career other than medicine (becoming an orthopedic surgeon). ✊ Thank you Dr Webb for the upload. Watching all the way from South Africa

Great video! I'm an IMG and I'm so going to be an Orthopedic Surgeon, you should do a video of the match 2018 related to OS, I am taking the step1 within 2 weeks and it kinda makes me nervous
Good suggestion! I will look into this! And good luck on your step, im not sure if these videos will help this far out in your preparation, but check these out! th-cam.com/play/PLAhk31i50JpzMA4-5RI4DAaVZzLV51qWz.html A. Thank you, I will check them, I have another question, if I'm applying Ortho when is the best date to take the Step2 CK (considering that I have passed the CS already) in order to be able to apply to the programs?
There is no best date. The general theme is that if you scored really well on step one to postpone it until after the application cycle (to avoid going down on your score) but some programs (not all) require it.
Hi Dr. Webb, thanks for this video. I'm a third year undergrad in Ohio looking to matriculate into medical school this year. Question: When you guys say that you want to have a lot of research experience under your belt in order to be competitive for something like Ortho/Neuro/derm, is this 'research' done during the four years of medical school?
Most people dont do that because of the years of training that it requires but thats not to say that it cant be done. You would have to do 4 years of med school, 5 years of ortho and then 4 years of PMR

I live in Phoenix and I am pre med. I would love to get in touch with Brent and pick his brain. I am an Air Force vet myself.
Hey Dr. Webb. Another question for you. When the time comes, how many medical schools should I apply to? What's the minimum amount?
Jerrold Grimage I know a lot of my friends applied to around 10-30
As much as possible imo . But my brother applied in 1 cuz he was confident and he got in too
Hi Dr. Webb, thanks for this video. I'm a third year undergrad in Ohio looking to matriculate into medical school this year. I’ve got a honours degree in Civil engineering, I have very strong physics, maths and problem solving skills. Can I still become a orthopedic surgeon?
You'd be better as a radiologist with that background. But yes you can become an ortho doc.
You have to complete the pre reqs, take the MCAT, and then you have a clear shot at Ortho. I think as an engineer, you would enjoy this field.
Addi Moya thanks for the advice bud
And how much does a normal doctor fresh from mbbs earn in a month ??? After taxes I mean .
Thanks alot
It varies by speciality, location, practice type (academic vs private), contract set up
Antonio J. Webb, M.D.
No spe rn just graduated from normal mbbs course after completing house job doing residency
New york
Private
250k around with no specialty, before taxes
Should I choose MBBS or Bsc course after 12th to become orthopaedic surgeon please can you reply 🙏
Also, do you know any dual specialist? I’m considering a dual in orthopedic surgery and PM&R. Any advice?
Most people dont do that because of the years of training that it requires but thats not to say that it cant be done. You would have to do 4 years of med school, 5 years of ortho and then 4 years of PMR
Thanks! I can see why. That’s too much.
can you please do more study with me's?
Great. Proud of you Dr. Munroe!
How long does it take to become orthopedic surgeon and how much is a tuitions
Tuition varies but it takes 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and 5-6 years of surgery training
Total 15 years
It's quite long term
what's an MCAT?
Medical school entrance exam
I'm really interested in orthopedics but there's something I want to know, do I have to first do physiotherapy in order to study orthopedics?
Are u rich?
