Clark FitzGerald I think that’s actually a cool part about this show, the fact that everything transitions so well. Coats also definitely have some crazy perc features that DO stand out and feel like “actual features” (2014 & 2017 especially)
I will always feel bad that this show petered out at the end of the season and lost to Devils -- This show had everything... but the tinkering and dinking around the last 2 weeks of the season seemed to upset the balance and allowed the Devs to fly by on finals night -- Part of me really resents the staff of the Bluecoats for in a way, kind of screwing up. I love this show - it will always be one of my favorites - but it will always have a shadow over it - a beautiful masterpiece that should have won the championship but was beaten by a show featuring drummers using irish dance shoes during their drum solo.
Well said. I hold no resentment towards the staff, mainly because they’re incredible, outstanding, groundbreaking, underpaid people who have dedicated their lives to the marching arts, but everything you said is correct
I rarely get upset about scores and placements however; I sat about row 10 that night on about the 30 yard line and watched the BD drumline chow hard 4-5 times. These were overtly obvious mistakes. Dirt. Clear tears from section to section. Clear tears from the overall ensemble. The guys next to me were looking at each other with every mistake. At times Jeff was standing right in front of the battery when these things happened, and yet he still gave them a PERFECT score. His percussion score single handedly gave the championship to the Blue Devils that night. I was heart broken for the Bluecoats, and for the audience that night. I’d like to think that he simply missed the mistakes but it was just impossible given how obvious they were. I have a hard time thinking there wasn’t some exterior motivation. Unfortunate.
@@sebastianmarsol How did you get this tape if you don't mind me asking? I ask because there are other percussion final tapes that were posted out of malicious intent, unlike this tape.
I assume you play for Bluecoats, but did they give you the taps because I heard usually staff doesn't let their members listen to tapes or even have a physical copy of it?
Shadowkille8r how did someone with malicious intent get said tapes? Are you talking about SCV or BD? (I know there were other tapes including cadets, those are the two that I didn’t expect)
jeff really loved the timpanist huh
He always talks about timpani so much
the timpanist is also a female 🤔
@@armon3807 ...your point?

And that 29” timpani..

@@jonahgarcia5733 one day we will see it
@@rkh_drums12288 i guess not
I’ll try to do it soon
Who writes better than the coats? Nobody.
Crown.
I think its all opinion based tbh, they all write shows in their own special way
Theyre all so great.
Eh. Bloos features just don't feel like features. Drumbreaks just feel like a part where only the drumline is playing not an actual feature.

Take your brass shenanigans somewhere else!
The drumline council hereby banishes your brass Hersey!!

Only in our wonderful world of percussion can brrrr brrrr chackatta brrrr brrrr invert cheese mean anything, much less actually make sense!
YES A BLOO TAPE!!!!

all good! we (the battery) were sent our percussion tapes after every show during the summer

Wow, how did you do it?
dose anyone remember that video of the hellcats preforming and one snare drummer gets hit by an axe? Thats the judge in this tape.
