I think its sad but funny this video was all about cats because this was the day that my childhood cat Patches passed away. I got him when i was 8 years old over the summer. He lived a LONG life. I think he was the same age as Rocko when he died. He was a grumpy but really cute and sweet cat. I loved him so so much. R.I.P. Patches❤❤❤

Every once in a while I’ll watch old StephenVlogs and the last few days is one of those times. I have to say that Mallory has really grown over the years. The shy girl that Stephen married 13 years ago is now very confident and more outgoing.
Stephen I had a dream about you and Mal last night. You were doing a mailtime episode, and were making a big deal about how you were collecting bottles of shampoo and some viewers sent in some. You then revealed that you were learning to DRINK them. You said it was for some money saving effort, and you were starting to get used to it. Stephen said "Once we like the shampoo, we'll be a 3 shampoo household" implying you'd drink it with every meal. Then the little text blurb on the end card said something like "If you're looking to try the shampoo lifestyle, make sure to check with your local farms to get some for free" cuz apparently thats a thing farms do?? Idk
I love this. 😂😂😂 It reminds me of when I fell asleep during Extra Life a couple years ago. I dreamt that Stephen and Mal were playing a sidescroller that was made by Old Spice, and that doing well in the game made you smell good in real life.
Oh the cat silhouettes reminded me of the fact that my grandparents had/have some in their apartment! We're in the process of emptying it before it sells since no one lives there now. (My grandmother passed in February, and my grandfather was put in a home shortly thereafter.... it has been A Year™), so me and my family + extended family have been taking home things that we want to keep before the rest is donated or sold. ... I hope no one has claimed those cat silhouettes already.
I've really enjoyed hearing both Stephen and Mal talk about how they became cat people, as I've had my own realization of that as well. I've always liked cats as long as I can remember, but my admiration of them has grown tremendously over the last few years. When I was a few years old, we had a neighbor who owned a cat who was very friendly and would wander over to our place, which was my first real experience with cats, leaving a good first impression. When I was 5, my family got our first cat, which delighted me, and there were others that were part of our lives throughout my childhood. While I never developed super strong attachments to any of them, due to being pretty young, I do look back on those memories rather fondly. After the days of us owning cats came to an end, I didn't think too much about it for a while, but I remember coming across a few portrayals of cats in entertainment and comics, and those were the first hints that cats were starting to leave a stronger positive impression on me, although I kind of tried to ignore it, being a male pre-teen at the time and feeling like I would be judged for it, which I was really struggling with at the time regarding several different topics. I kept those feelings under wraps for some years, but more recently, those feelings began to resurface in me, and to be honest, it was seeing Kepler appear on some of the gaming videos on StephenPlays that really brought them back. Because I'm in a different place in my life now as a young adult, where I'm at least more confident in who I am compared to before, I've come to realize that not only do I like cats, but I LOVE cats. As a very introverted person, I find a lot of relatability regarding how cats are, and I feel such a sense of happiness regarding them. Sometimes, that's enough to put a smile on my face. Although I definitely consider myself a cat lover these days and would love to be a cat owner on my own someday, I don't necessarily see it as a guarantee, as I would definitely need to be in a strong enough financial place, but I hope someday it can happen. The family that hosts the Bible study I attend actually owns cats, although they're rather timid. But I'm hoping to get them comfortable with my presence over time. I truly see cats as being a gift from God these days and am very glad that many others love them for who they are as well.
I know me and Stephen/Stephen's dad are all the same Animal whisperers but with me it was most animals not just cats. While I do miss my little buddy Nixie (1997-2022) at least I have two other cats that i can still cuddle with plus if I ever miss Nixie really badly I know i can watch the vlog and see Kepler and be reminded of my little man though just seeing how Kepler acts with Stephen. So thank you Stephen and Mal for continuing this vlog channel through so much.
Regarding the corner cats at 1:20 , I had to pause the vlog to show them my mom because my parents have had the one in the middle over their bathroom door for as long as I've been alive. I've asked her before where it came from and the only answer she was able to give me is "from one of your dad's friends."
I've recently got to experience the opposite situation with my cat and my partner! Diego is very much a mama's boy and is incredibly shy and skittish around most people that aren't me. But when my partner is staying with me he gets all cozy with them, lets them give him belly rubs, a lot of things that he normally only allows me to do. He still a little jelly boy tho 😂
The story about Mal's cat not liking Stephen reminds me of my first experiences with my girlfriend's cat. The first few times I was over at her house, he'd hiss at me, like he didn't want me around. After enough visits I wore him down to him looking at me like he wants to say "Where've you been?" and grudgingly accepting a gentle pet on the head. I'm honestly looking forward to how my family's puppy is gonna take to my girlfriend, because they haven't met yet. But the puppy _loves_ meeting new people and will bother them for attention a lot, so hopefully that's a good sign. :)
Honestly, such is cat. Unless they're just absolute fren (like one of my roommates' cats), they're gonna be standoffish for a while until they know they can trust you. For me, that's always been the case with only three exceptions: a tabby my brother used to take care of back in my early teens, the aforementioned "made of fren" cat (who was fostered alongside dogs), and my tuxie boi (who upon meeting me immediately jumped up onto my shoulder).

My only prior experience with cats before my girlfriend's were Loki, who belonged to my brother and his wife and Stanley, who belonged to a friend of the family who asked me to house-sit for them and take care of the cat while they went out of town for charity work. Both Loki and Stanley took to me pretty quickly, so I was surprised that Chip (that's my girlfriend's cat) was so aloof towards me at first.

I remember seeing those in the background of some older vlog videos back in the OG apartment days and getting all giddy 😄 My grandmother got them at a flea market for like 50¢, but she cherished them like they were $50k lol. She made my mom wait until she was in her 30s before she’d pass them onto her, and my mom (finally) gave them to me when i got my first apartment
When I was a kid, all we had were dogs as my Dad wasn't a cat person, despite the fact he lived with a cat as a child since my grandparents had cats. It was only when Beady and Merlin came into my life that my Dad started to adore cats, especially as Merlin and him grew very close (just like Kepler is with Stephen). So when Merlin passed away, my Dad was devastated.

im the same way with cats as stephen in multiple ways! when i was born my family had 2 cats that were probably almost 10 years old so that started my love of cats. Im also a "cat whisperer" my partners cat loves me more than he loves my partner, even though ive literally never fed him a meal, and im only at their place a couple days a week 😭. according to my partner he woke up this morning and the cat was sleeping on me with his face buried in my chest purring like crazy
I loved hearing Mals story about her fixation on cats and when it started . It made me think of my little ones and wondering since my 5 year old still carries around her stuffed Spider… if she will love spiders forever 😂 There’s is a kids show named Lucas the spider hence the plushy. She had it since she was one. I have seen that she find spiders outside and makes friends with them at a distance. 😂 My little boy is a baby baby so it will be interesting to see what he gravitate towards as he gets older. I have always loved dogs since I have always been allergic to cats. My childhood dog we got as a puppy when I was 4. And she lived for 18 years. She met my daughter which I never thought would happen. It is very interesting to see what things we loved as kids stays with us.
I just saw this vlog today, and yesterday I had a dream that Stephen and Mal were being followed by three cats and the most noticeable one was a black cat that kept hissing and getting aggressive with me. stephen had told the cat to stop hissing and to leave me alone and just refused to listen to him. Now I’m watching this vlog and it is such a funny coincidence.
This is funny, but my name is Mel. I have my first black cat named Bruno he is almost 9. I love him to bits. I'm allergic to dogs so I thought a cat would be the next best thing. Turns out it is. Thank you Stephen and Mal for letting me know cats are worth adopting. The reason I adopted a black cat due to them not being enough adopted. Black cats are great, they are not anti-photogenic or bland or boring.
Our family used to have cats like that too, but they didn't buy them. They had pictures or a design they traced and cut out. They still have them too! I can relate to the animal thing, where most like me. I can walk into a room, never meeting this animal before, and they just like me. Immediately. HOWEVER! There are times where I have run into animals that act the opposite. They HATE me instead of like me. Doesn't happen a lot, thank god. But it's usually one or the other. It's rare when an animal acts aloof of me. Other than that, they usually love or hate me.
There was always a cat in the home until I was 4, then the family cat died. It was 3 years of begging from me and my mom to my dad until my mom said (not verbatim) "fuck it" and drove us to the Humane Society and we brought home a cat. Dad had to deal with it, lol.
