Thanks for your reaction. That was such an iconic moment. This song was originally in Tamil later dubbed into Hindi. Music composed by the legendary music composer Ilayaraja. Yesudas sung this song. Shreya absolutely recreated the magic. The people you see are the from the Malayalam film industry. In the front row you can see Superstar Mammootty, Jayaram etc.
Yesudas holds the record for singing 11 songs in different languages in a single day. Aslo K J Yesudas Sir has recorded over 80,000 songs of geners in 15+ different Indian and foreign languages in his 50 years career.

This is an all time classic from Shri KJ Yesudas. The song was composed by legendary composer Maestro Ilayaraja for whom KJY has sung hundreds of songs and many of them are all time classics in Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.

The movie Sadma will literally tear ur heart out of ur chest, make u watch it slowly lose the beat and make u weep rivers that would make even the Amazon and Nile look smaller. The impact of this movie on human emotions is so strong that it left we feeling as though I was punched in the gut, dragged through the muck and left to lose my breath 1 slow exhale, inhale at a time.
One of the most amazing movie that is directed to perfection and acted to something even an Oscar would fall short as a recognition.

They switched from Hindi to Tamil in between the song, Shreya is not a Tamil speaker and she was amazing in that part too.
Yesudas is a Roman Catholic who has been the best devotional singer even for Hindu Gods in Kerala.
For instance he has performed numerous concerts outside Guruvayur Temple but never entered it but his songs invoke a feeling of deep devotion to the listeners
Imagine if even a normal hindu refuses to enter a church then what a storm that would raise!
@@Exiide89 Yesudas did not refuse to enter the Guruvayur temple. It was the Guruvayoor temple authorities who did not allowed this legendary singer to enter the temple.
Nb: Yesudas has visited and sung kirtans in many other temples in Kerala
@@amalkumar2775Any history behind why he was not permitted to enter? I know about Puri Jagannath temple where people of other religions have made continuous attempts to destroy or desecrate it over centuries and now only hindus are allowed entry there.

you guys should create and react to a separate section just for Dr. K J Yesudas. He is the best India has to offer. His voice is celestial as agreed by people of Kerala. His knowledge in music unmatched. Combine unique voice of Lata Mangeshkar, Pitch perfect rendition of K S Chitra and then add some heavenly touch, you get Yesudas.
An iconic moment not only for her but all music lovers to watch them sing together the most iconic track (dubbed in multiple languages two of which were used in this video - Hindi n Tamil)

I know you guys have been so much more familiar to Shreya and Arijith (and Bollywood) and hence more fascinated by them (and nothing against their brilliance) but this is a celebration of 50yrs of signing career of KJYesudas a legend beyond most of the male singers anywhere in the world, so it would have been nice if you had given him some notice too 😂...Of course, almost no one from Kerala go through a day(even now) without hearing at least one KJ Yesudas song but more than that he had given such amazing songs in Tamil, Telugu and even in Hindi(where he had some issues because of the pronunciation of language)...You should really check out some more of his work...

It's a very emotional song in the movie. Wonderful and heartbreaking performance by Sridevi and Kamal hassan in the movie Sadma.
You must try to bring Shreya and others to your podcast. They do give interviews to platform like yours... M sure the kinda questions you would ask, they must not have faced before which they sure will like to answer. You guys should check out Shreya Goshal’s performance in the music talent show “Sa Re Ga Ma” from Zee TV . She participated and won the competition in the year 2000 at the age of 16.

Thank you for enjoying Yesudas' singing. Im so thankful he sang in my lifetime because the sweetness of his voice and breadth of his talent is unmatched. But most of all he is a very very humble man. I can understand wat she meant. Singing perfectly is onething but replicating the emotions as same as the original singer especially if the singer is K J Yesudas is difficult. Also this song is frm a movie which is very emotional. So the listeners immediately relate to those scenes and yesudas sir's singing.

Yesudas is the first name. KJ are most likely initials for his village name and dad's name. Many people from the south and some from the east do not use last names.

After the song ended Shreya touched KJ's feet - at 7:15 - and KJ blessed her. This is how in I greet my teachers and my elders when I meet them. My nephews and younger cousins also greet me like this. This greeting in usually reserved for special occasions (meeting after a long gap, greeting on festivals and significant family gatherings) - this was a certainly a special occasions. Just as a clarification, Indian culture is not homogeneous so in some cultures and in some families touching feet is not common. This is not a shade but there is an obvious reason you guys have not heard it, even Indians from the north are not aware of it, example when you react to list of top songs from south singers and it's filled with their hindi songs or hindi versions of their original tamil songs and this song they are singing here is an example of that and composed by illayaraja (who ARR worked for before branching out).
