Forget that she loved pacey he could have paid for her. Dawson should have saved his money for himself and family.

Dawson didn't need the money and was looking for a sign of what to do with the money. His parents already had Dawson set financially.Pacey couldn't afford to help her at least at this point in his life.

@@BalletBullet1 no, was thinking of a way to spend the inheritance that was given to him by that dying neighbor of his in this episode. Hearing about Joey's problem, he decided he found the perfect avenue
Dawson will always be her ONE
What they also overlook was the moment Dawson gifted her the picture of her and Pacey. And she began to cry talking about why Gretchen would love Dawson. But in actuality it was at that moment Joey realized she was still very much in love with Dawson. And she was not only telling him why Gretchen would love him. But she was also subtly telling him why SHE still loves him.
I remember this episode, I related to much to Joey out of all the main characters.
And suddenly the show changed protagonists…
I was rewatching the whole show and I also identify this to be a moment when the show switched from Dawson to Joey, a little more before this but it became very clear here

This was in 2001. Based on inflation in the US that's $25,579 now. Of course that is using the Consumer Price Index and college tuition has probably gone up even more than that in 22 years.

That's not entitlement. That's smart. I regretted taken school loans out myself. It's a heavy burden to graduate with a degree in one hand and debt in the other. Some people are in lifelong debt and will die in debt for choices they were too young to understand and we're not taught financial literacy in high school but an eighteen year old can qualify for a $20k student loan.

Didn't Dawson and Pacey make 5k in one night by having strippers dance at Dawson's house? lol, this show was so inconsistent with money.
In the Risky Business inspired episode, Pacey and Eve convinces Dawson to throw a house party to raise $3000 to fix Dawson's dad boat which Dawson wrecked while taking Eve for a ride by charging admission for high school boys to come to his party to see strippers. They raised the $3000. They messed up when Pacey wanted to open the party to the public, Eve wanted Dawson to sneak off on a boat, and Mitch came back with the party still going on and grounded Dawson. And this was Pacey while still dating Andie and the night Dawson asked him to look after Joey for him because she threw herself at Dawson at the party and he rejected her.
If I was Dawson, I would not have given her the $$ that Mr. Brooks. He deserved to use that for his education too. I doubt Joey would’ve done the same for him if the tables were turned. She always has to play the victim!
