It is. I can explain how I figured it out on my end, if you want to know.
Childhood was extreme, several step fathers, moved regularly, mother was a party going stripper, I was known to be a depressed kid and treated as such, I left for the military and came back damaged, fell in love about 3 times and was told each time several reasons why I was inadequate, by 30 I felt worthless and useless. Then I met my last love, but I had a brain injury and needed to spend 6 of the last 8 years learning how to walk, talk, think, see, and be human again. During those 6 years, my last love fell in love with someone else and had a double life with that person. I found out, and spent 9 months figuring out why it happened and what was happening. That was 2 years ago. I'm 38 now. I recognize something important. All of the scariest and most hurtful things I've gone through were at the hands of other humans, and all different kinds. Some intentionally mean, some indirectly, some good people who made mistakes, some crazy people who were just going through the motions of their own lives making others collateral damage, and some normal people just making decisions. Everyone is a bit lost and making it up as they go. Nobody really has any definitive answers about what is right, or what is best. Everyone has some form of bias or attribute that comes from some aspect of their own personality or history. Everyone is basically a mosaic of infinitely complex causes and effects, and that is why forgiveness and acceptance are the fast-track to reaching unconditional love. Because for unconditional love to exist, a person has to get their mind to the other side of the madness and insanity that is inherent to the human condition as I have just described. If they don't, then said person will be endlessly at odds with infinitely variable complexities that happen as a result of existing as a human. Its the infinitely variable part that makes human life so mad and insane, as a circus of conflicting points of view. So, we can just will ourselves to the other side of all of it on purpose if we understand what we are otherwise up against. Thus, guess what my final response to the tragic end of my romantic relationship with my last love was. It was "honey, I love you." And I really do love him. And I always will, and I will always answer his call. And that is just it. There is nothing to beat myself up over, nor anything to beat him up over either. Life happened. I refuse to diminish love. If he fell in love with another, who would I be to diminish that when I was struggling to recover from a brain injury. He never left me scared alone, because we love each other more than shallow romance. There is just nothing to say, other than "honey, I love you." That is all that matters about all of it. Life enriched me to a point where I can grasp that all things are ok just the way they are, there is no perfect. There is no controlling existence, there is only dancing with it. That is it, it really is that simple. If it weren't, I'd be a broken mess of a human that has endless reasons to be complicated and damaged. But, I will myself to the other side of all of it. On purpose. So, it really can be that simple. The simplicity of it, as love, is where real peace from within is found.
