I've owned emerald physics with this concept. I don't like how it's dipole up to around 1 kilohertz and then monopole up from there. Now I own Clayton Shaw's M3 turbo spatial audio speaker. I have switched out the Twitter with a 4-in tang band driver and is completely dipole now and sounds much more natural.

Please clarify. If a 2 way 10 inch open baffle can sound that bassy it is pretty remarkable. However I suspect it is a 3 way with 10 inch COAX (open at back of tweeter) and an 18 inch LF / Woofer. Either way sounds amazing. Are these drivers available in Europe / UK too?
That entire video was a collage of many different videos during the day, so take much of it with a grain of salt. We will be doing a full video and review on them soon. But yes, at times, it was just the Baby Baffles, and at times it was the Baby Baffles with the lower section of the big baffles playing as sub-woofers. Wow I'm retired but 40 years ago I experimented with building speakers, now I want to make these! I'm assuming the drivers are the LA dolche kits they sell. But what , if I may ask, is the horn part number on the top and its driver? Also would you be so kind as to share the crossover schematic for the 4 driver baffle I'm looking at? I have done so and it sounded fine to me, little more air and spaciousness, but slightly less cohesive. We like to ignore rules and just do what sounds good to us.. ;) Some people scoff, we just have fun.
Ok, I’m intrigued. I’m building my first set of speakers and I also picked up some Paradigm Titan v3 speakers the other day. Hard to say if they’re better than my DCM Time Windows…but I haven’t plugged them back in. 😁 So let’s say I wanted to make these speakers to really blow my hair back. Where would I find the plans? Also, you mentioned in another video that you can make these and use Dayton speakers to see if you like the style. Which ones? I love clear, transparent sound with tight, quick bass, so I’m pretty sure I’d love these. My living room might get a little tight, but I can work with that. Also, would there be any value in bi-amping these? Not sure what the efficiency is on these, but I’m fairly certain it will take a little something to drive them. Anyway, thanks…I’ve already got the wood for these. Reclaimed old-growth redwood…it would look amazing.

@@rvaillant - Yea, when we made that video, we were all in on the "Beta Buy" that often occurs in our discord. We often get pre final design versions to beta test and give feedback to Terry at LDA. Think for both 10" drivers and the LDA 1002 tweeters its just under a grand for the Baby baffle Kit. What you seen in the video is just part of the Baby Baffle, basically just the tweeter and mid range. we are still working on the 12" driver that will go in the bottom of the baffle. So i don't want to really comment or asses them yet. But some of the best resolution and detail I have heard so far. :) Cheers

These sound dynamic as heck. Just great. However the dynamics we hear are there because of the recording its compressed. At least on the DS track. Just great work though. Makes me feel like I could build em. Crossover network might need help. Love the dual mono setup.
It’s something we’ve been messing with in discord. I still prefer and run the standard ABX baffle with the coaxial 15” mid driver and compression horn tweeter.

@@riccitone Yea. Most people think the baffle is super critical. It’s not. The drivers and crossover components are about 90% of the goal as the drivers would be fantastic in 4’ baffle or no baffle at all. Jump in the discord to have a real time conversation with all of us about how we’re building baffles, but everyone will be doing something slightly different based on personal taste. Mine will probably end up being about 30” tall and 12” wide. And yes beveling all 90 degree corners is key and the thicker your go the more important that wave guide is on the front face of the baffle.

Great to see people experimenting. I saw the review of the Lyngdorf Model B which has 6 x 12 inch open baffle drivers per speaker (three normal orientation, three in reverse to reduce distortion) and I thought that should be possible for DIYers as well. E.g. with six SB Audience BIANCO-12OB150.
I'd put my setup against it anyday of the week.. ask for details.. I kinda like the no cabs. on the speakers, but in a an outdoor setting forget it! The room your in is acting like a speaker cab. Bring it OUTSIDE with no backing behind what so ever.. Sometimes things LOOK Swell but there still made by MATTEL..
We actually had a member do just that. Basically used them as an outdoor PA…. It frkn rocked. People put to many rules on things, and typically the ones that make these rules, have never even done it.

Those baby baffles were just Insane!! Keep in mind, the camera mic wasn't even in the hot seat most of the time.. It makes a BIG difference!

It can, eminence and harmony make some decent ones. .707 QTs was our target. 🎯
