Gonna be a comments section mechanic and urge you guys to spend $20-30 on a pair of jack stands. It only takes a second for the seal on that hydraulic jack to potentially fail and drop the car on you. Even for minor stuff like this, if you're under the car, play it safe!

You realize these guys are young and not everyone can afford a manual, well not everyone is in a position to get a manual car due to the parents decision. Nonetheless, as long as the car is fun and you enjoy it why does it matter if its manual or automatic ? I have Honda Civic Si (manual) and an RSX (automatic) and they are both fun cars !
