So I'm like it never fails I want to listen to something and she needs something.... When the build up to the chorus starts I get an anxious feeling. Then the vocals hit me hard and they bring a lot of sadness to my mind. Melancholy and nostalgia over past events, such as no longer having certain people in my life. It's almost to much to handle. In the 2001 music video (the Strokes’ first) for “Last Nite”, Julian picks up the mic stand and throws it at 1:03. Today (actually yesterday, november 3) i got the sad news that my first girlfriend, which never stopped being my friend althought we weren't close friends, passed away probably due to a disease she had. I'm crying my fucking ass out right now, but thank god i got to know her. I was 13 and she was 11 when we met, and now i'm 27. Just recently discovered the strokes after my mother told me about how she won tickets to the weenie roast on one of their songs followed by hours of listening to all the bands she seen that day. I’m quite disappointed she didn’t show me them earlier thanks mom
The first time I listened to The Strokes I remember thinking about where they had been all my life. Thanks quarantine for making me want to discover new music.
For the last 20 years I didn’t want to listen to them, they were just another band, I was living my life listening to rock , but I always skipped them in my indie rock playlists. I couldn’t stand the introduction for last nite and reptilia, and they seemed so fake. Then one day I heard last nite complete and then someday and then reptilia, I got hooked. When I heard modern age, heart in its cage, then I fell for them. I am addicted now, I don’t know want to do.
I got introduced to the strokes by my brother when I was 8 yrs old my brother didn't stay at home for much time and was always abroad so when he went away I just missed him and start exploring his playlist and that's how I got into indies rock and I can't stop listening to it till now and I would really like this song to be played in my funeral
The love of my life broke up with me while this song played in the background. I love this song dearly but am reminded of that dreadful memory every time I hear it, but I truly love the song so much and especially now that it symbolizes the heart break and my struggle to find strength afterwards. Bittersweet. Thanks Julian

God this song is sooo underrated. It's one of the best rock songs of all time. It's so catchy, the lyrics are relevant and clever, and the vocals and guitar is amazing. It doesn't get the credit it deserves.
The Strokes is one of the few groups that from the first time you hear a song of theirs, it stays in your mind forever.
Nothing brought me here, I just like the strokes
Liking the Strokes brought you here
Not listening to the strokes for a while brought me here
Same lmao
Same here
Same man
Podrán existir miles de bandas pero únicamente con the strokes nunca podré evitar cerrar los ojos ♥️

Wow, I didn't know how amazing this song is.
By that time, she showed me some great music, one of them being this song, which she said that reminded her of me.
I will never forget you, Luiza.
May Allah ease your soul.
im sorry for ur loss
losing a friend isnt easy
reading the comments even though I don't know who jisoo is, I'm glad she enjoys the strokes and brought many people here
She is the member of world biggest girl group and also one of the world biggest group (blackpink)

Best song on the album I think
Just recently discovered the strokes after my mother told me about how she won tickets to the weenie roast on one of their songs followed by hours of listening to all the bands she seen that day. I’m quite disappointed she didn’t show me them earlier thanks mom
The first time I listened to The Strokes I remember thinking about where they had been all my life.
Thanks quarantine for making me want to discover new music.
Same, i discovered them only a month ago
Roselita me too, i feel like i wasted so much time 😭
@@danielablacker4612 at least we have them now
For the last 20 years I didn’t want to listen to them, they were just another band, I was living my life listening to rock , but I always skipped them in my indie rock playlists. I couldn’t stand the introduction for last nite and reptilia, and they seemed so fake. Then one day I heard last nite complete and then someday and then reptilia, I got hooked. When I heard modern age, heart in its cage, then I fell for them. I am addicted now, I don’t know want to do.
U heard them on snl right? It was first time a heard them when they played the adults are talking
The Strokes are my fav new modern band, they're so great! I wish more mainstream music was this quality!
Love the smiles at the end, really makes me miss them
This gem is 10 years old today and everybody has been singing the same song for 10 years
Thus is one of the best songs I've ever heard of... the guitar has so much going on throughout the song.. different styles as well . Really cool
I refuse to believe this song (and album) is nearly 10 years old

Vaya si que The Strokes tocan muy bien, y que decir de la voz de Julian Casablanca...me encanta esa voz suya y la manera en como tocan.
"Everybody singin' the same song for the last ten years..." -- well, if it's THIS song, then I'm cool with that.

This boosts an insane amount of serotonine in my system. Loved it
the breakdowns and octave changes make this song sound so good
I think the nice thing of this generation is that i can say "i listened to the strokes with my mum the first time" and i'm not lying.
Eternamente agradecido de que esto fuese la música de mi juventud y no peso pluma.
Mil gracias
Nostalgia, me lembro das roupas, dos amigos, da rotina que eu tinha naquela época... Ah, saudades, saudades!

The love of my life broke up with me while this song played in the background. I love this song dearly but am reminded of that dreadful memory every time I hear it, but I truly love the song so much and especially now that it symbolizes the heart break and my struggle to find strength afterwards. Bittersweet. Thanks Julian
Roy Miller as sad as that is this is the type of comment that this band lives for
Sorry man.

Guitar solo is mesmerizing and that 3:00 groovy drum
the strokes, a band so great they play for about 4 minutes with no audience then plays one verse for 10 seconds and gets applause
Slip back out of whack att your best.
It's a nightmare,
So I'm joining the army.
Know how folks back out, I still call.
Will you hate for me now?
We got the righteous advice to use it
Got everything but you can just choose it
I won't just be a puppet on a string
Don't go that way.
I'll wait for you.
And I'm tired of all your friends
Listening at your door
And I won't, I better call you.
So long, my friend and adversary.
But I will call you.
Get dressed, jump out of bed and do it best.
Are you OK?
I've been out around this town
And everybody's been singing the same song ten years.
I'll wait for you.
Will you wait for me too?
And they sacrifice their lives
In our land are all closed eyes.
I've been saying we're beaten down, I won't say it again.
So long, my end.
The sorry embrace.
Don't go that way.
I'll wait for you.
I'm tired of all your friends,
Knocking down your door.
Get up in the morning, give it your all.
So long, my friend and adversary.
I'll wait for you.
