Found some real nice fatwood in a big dead Douglas Fir tree. Got some mail i ordered from @ShlisaShell Check out her channel: / @shlisashell check out her store: www.etsy.com/s...
LOL Don't try this at home. That was cool. I love me some Doug Fir fatwood. Next time I fly out to my brother's in Oregon I'm going to stock up again. Thanks for showing off the fatwood and taking down that tree was awesome. Fire fire! Red pine is correct. Both pieces. I've been in the woods all day harvesting red pine fatwood. I got tore up in the thorns LOL. Battle wounds! Hahaha! ~Hey thanks for the shout out. I appreciate ya. Keep it burning! 🤘🌲🔪➖💥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks again! I love it. Appreciate your videos and what you do. Thanks for taking on the thorns! Looking forward to seeing that. Cheers. Keep it burning!
I only learned about this fat wood from a friend. I have known on TH-cam so I found out that we get in our Scots pine. I know a couple of good places we used to go as kids to get firewood with my brother and Dad cool gifts to Steve 👍
apparently Doug fir gets it in the center core and down into the roots. I've seen some vids of guys looking for rotted fir stumps with a center spike sticking out. Pine gets it in the knots and roots. cool stuff. i wish i learned about it sooner.
Wow man , great video. I am now in search for a dead Doug Fir. I was lucky enough to hang out with Shlisa early on and we did some great woods stomping together , I learned so much from the Queen.
I seen that video! so jealous. I hope i get a chance to go on a hunt with her someday. Michigan is a long ways from here though. Lots of doug fir in my area. ben finding some really nice stuff. cheers
Cool vid, that rod & striker are things of beauty I’d rather hang ‘em on the wall but shits made to be used innit 🤷🏻♂️, love the shiney sticka, bit of a piro you are lol, she seems a fun girl what else does she do? Drop her channel so we can hit her up, nice grinder btw 😊
yeah buddy. really nice set for sure. i hate to use it but ill save it for special occasions. Check her out. she's a real pro now. finds some nice stuff. channel link in the description. the grinder is pretty nice. i want a couple more. looking for a deal on one or two. hate to pay full price lol. cheers

@@stevesrt8 I grew up running thru the pine forests of Florida but I never new what lighter knot or fat wood was, someone told me it's actually been used in powering trains to being part of pre-dynomite explosives. Been told that it's actually Illigeal to harvest stuff in the woods since it infact can be thousands of years old as well.
@@BenjaminSpencer-m1k thats wild man. i wish i knew about it sooner. its amazing stuff. i found some in an old dead fir that we were removing. Shlisa harvests from old trees but i don't think they are super old. have to watch out for state laws for sure. i see guys making tourches from it. very handy to know about
@@stevesrt8 Had someone tell me how to make it, slightly before the first cold snap take a evergreen and you gotta know how to kill it properly so the sap gathers all in one place. As a survival tool I imagine native Americans and settlers considered it extremly valuable, Got one of those heated fragrance dodads gonna mix some of the dust into some regular wax and see if it will smell good.I dont know if there's a market for pine exactly but some tree resins similar to lighter/fat wood are worth thousands or more to perfume makers.
yeah buddy! that would be perfect for that. where are you? probably not too hard to get out and find some. looks like more oak and stuff around you though. need to find some big ole pines
