I feel really bad for Emilie here, because this was probably her strongest performance vocally. I think she sang it beautifully yet she got such harsh criticism and you could see how she was about to cry. No it wasn’t great acting wise and she didn’t connect to the man or to the song, and I do understand ALW saying she probably wouldn’t be strong enough to be a leading lady yet, but she deserved more praise on her vocals.
Emilie's best vocal performance for sure. She sang it extremely well. A very different vocal from Stephanie's but the two songs call for very different technique. Maybe not an actress's performance, but neither was Stephanie's.

Okay so looking back. Emelie did look at the boy in the eyes, however I agree about about the dancer like it left her no where to go. Her voice was more controlled but still a lil bit pitchy. Stephanie was a great dancer here and I know she’s a great singer and actress, but if Emelie sang Let’s Get Loud the same way that Stephanie did, she would’ve got so much backlash
@Katzie7 I totally agree. Niamgs version was so beautiful. Emilie is over confident and has high notions about herself. I was wondering though, there were SO many songs this week that the I'd do anything girls did in '08. Sway, One Night Only, Moonriver, Why Do Fools Fall in Love and the Sunday night performance of Buenos Aires. There are so many songs to choose from, I don't know why they did that! At least spread it out over a few weeks!

@yddib I noticed that too. They have so many to choose from, whether they chose pop OR musical pieces! Are they just asking for comparison between this year's and '08? And also, Bronte did "Suddenly I See" which Tara did in IDA ("Suddenly I SEE-YAH!!" *shudders*)

Whilst it probably isn't appropriate to compare between competitions...Emilie's version of this song can't even come remotely near Niamh's version from IDA. TBH Emilie should never have been in this competition to begin with. Philippa or Claire Harbourne or Sarah were better than her.
@sarahlouise03 oh definately, the toned down look suits her much better. She is a really pretty girl - in the VT, but in her performances the way her makeup is done makes her look, dare I say a bit trampy? Far far too harsh!

that's exactly my thoughts. I mean: they complain about Lauren being arrogant and yet noone says anything when Emily is clearly WAY more arrogant.

Laughable that ALW forced John to agree that Emilie was the best mover...especially in front of Stephanie, and especially after "Let's get loud"!

I saw her in october and she absolutely blew me away. She was a lovely Cosette, her voice was very steady throughout the entire show.
