AndreCorner First, Start8 and Fences are not bundled together. They are sold separately. I tried a few others, but I want the original Windows 7 menu feel on my Windows 8 PC and I found that Start8 was perfect for my needs. A few others are iobit start menu 8, Pokki and Classic Shell
Portals is really great. Not sure why you don't use it. Have you tried to configure a Portal into a "List" instead of icons? That way your folders are listed just like they would be in Explorer. All the features of this program are great but I find Portals the most useful. Maybe it is just the way I work. Either way, great vid.

I don't really care, to be honest. If you want to customize Windows, go for it. Everyone has their own work flow and customizing Windows can help with work efficiency. The only other customization software I've tried is RainMeter.
I always use the 'rollup fences' setting which 'rolls' the entire fence up to a single slim bar. I'd never leave all those shortcuts visible on the desktop.

Very cool video. I just got this with a humble bundle deal and only had a vague idea what it was used for. My only question is, If you turn off your 2nd monitor does Stardock Fences know what to do or does it have a fit and loose some of your icons?
The Folder portals are pretty cool but I'm still looking for something that will sit on the taskbar and let me fan out the folder contents or stack them upwards like you can do on OSX. I am so used to clicking on that download folder on the dock and seeing all the files right there. Better than on the desktop IMO because you can have a full screen program open and still quickly get to the files and drag them into the program. If there is a program that will do this please let me know.
When dragging a file or folder to a desired location if you get too close to the edge of your screen fences and content dissappears! You have to reboot to get it all back! Clicking mid screen doesn't toggle on and off.
I think you may have dragged your icons to a new page. If you hold both mouse buttons down and click to the left or right, you can change desktop pages
Heya, I bought this and DeskScapes from a recent Humble Bundle, and I'm wondering if it's possible to set up different pages for different virtual desktops in Windows 10? I like what I've seen of it so far though.
I couldn't find a way to do it, unfortunately, and Fences gets buggy if used with DeskScapes for some reason. But I do like it, thanks for your video, it was really helpful.
ProXy he used a software called start orb changer. I guess there is a version for W7 and another for W8. Just search it and you'll find it by yourself =P
Question please! I have the paid version ever since I was using Fences with Win XP. I reinstalled a fresh download of Fences on my new Win 10 PC in June/2019. Fences worked really well on my XP PC, but has some glitches on my Win 10 PC. Mainly, I can drag from the edge of the screen (l or R) to see other PAGES but the pages won't stick, they bounce back. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Hmmm, this could be a bug with how Windows 10 works with its multiple desktops feature. I'll have to test this for myself to see if I can replicate the issue.
This audio set-up was actually not the best here. I took my mic (Audio Technica AT-4040) and plugged directly into my mixer (Alesis Multimix 4), which you're not supposed to do. Now I have an audio interface thrown in. So, my AT-4040 goes to the interface, then the interface outputs a signal to my mixer. My mixer then translates that information over USB as a mic and I record audio.
+Durgesh Kshirsagar Glad to hear you're going with the XLR version. Not the USB one. Windows has major issues with USB mics being too quiet. That sounds like it will get the job done. Good combination. I use a Golden Age Pre-73 MKIII pre-amp
If you used the free version, that is only compatible with Windows 7 and lower. So, if you're using 8 or 10, it will not work. You will have to buy the program to use it properly on those versions of Windows.
+Kentukey Pharoah If you hold left click you can make a fence. I have no idea if it's possible to drag and drop icons into the fence. I did manage to create a new icon, but dont want to do it this way for all my 100 icons :(
There are certain programs that can stop it from working. if you select the icon and then cut it and paste it into the fence. This should work in any case.

Thats really useful video and application when Microsoft ruined Windows Explorer and Start menu customizability. I liked Windows 2000 (and XP?) extra menu when you dragged a folder to screen edge.

At this point pirating is so normal people who make anything on the internet should expect it. Not to mention at this point the creators of stardocks aren't staving so that's most likely out of the window. Honestly in certain times I don't find pirating to be that bad. Like pirating windows instead of buying it for the full hard hitting price. For a program like this to be 10$ instead of 5$ for the basic functions most people want out of it I honestly wont witch hunt someone for pirating this.

The perfect example of a completely useless software that does exactly what Windows does ... by default. I'm a programmer and I use a lot of software and files, and I always store them away from C drive. But I always make shortcuts of the actuall folders containting the files, onto the desktop. Why on earth would I install a software, even a free one, to do the exact same thing ????
My question for you is why are you even here? If the program is not for, it's not for you and move on. Also, saying your a programmer before stating your reason why the program is not for you makes you sound entitled.

Fair enough! It does slow the loading of the desktop down a little bit on reboot. Afterwards, performance is fine though!
