    Intake setup on Craftsman is different from what I have seen on other Zenoah g3800 clones. My Iskra GC401 has the same rubber boot setup like Ryobi but with nylon filter. Alpina C41 has a plastic block, but not like that in Craftsman. Impulse line is at the top right corner of the flange.
    About the clutch - crankshaft diameter is smaller than on the 45,52,58cc saws, so the clutch and drums are not interchangeable, but I have found .325" versions of the drum if I want to switch to a bigger chain from 3/8 lp.
    Just found some Craftsman schematics and pictures of the S180 model on Ebay - is this a closed port cylinder with transfer caps on the S1600 model also? Can't wait to see you to dig deeper into this saw. Great content on your channel, Novice Lumberjack!

      I’d bet that those are both “shell companies” of one sort or another. That’s something that I don’t recall ever being mentioned. Hmmm🤔

      What's the product nr. for the .325 clutch. I've been eyeing these little saws but not being able to run .325 is what's kept me from buying so far.

    • @homopit42

      @@modarkthemauler I have the part number for Alpina C41 drum with .325", search for "alpina 118801063 drum". I ordered a different one, "QR38F PN3800 Villager", rim+sprocket. It comes with 3/8 sprocket, but I will try it with .325 sprocket also.

    My cousin has a Ryobi 3714, an older Green one and I was actually a little impressed with it. Although the pull start handle broke and I found a crack in the cylinder, it still performs decently and is reliable. I would still recommend an old Stihl or Mac or Husky or Echo b4 buying a Home Depot saw but thats just me.

    Nice! I’m looking forward to the Craftsman content. I can’t believe it’s not a clamshell. Maybe it might be worth your time, and maybe I’ll end up picking one up too. Lol!

    Glad you went back and picked em up👍🏻 the craftsman does look exactly like my s145 under the plastics, other than it doesn't have removable transfer caps. Excited to see what your able to do with it! I've only done a base gasket delete and built mine a pipe so far but the improvement it showed was incredible vs those same mods I've done on other saws!
    They are definitely cheap Chinese clones. I just like to think, if they are sold under a well known brand, hopefully quality control is better than the no name clones sold online.

    3714 is a nice Zenoah clone. I bought many bgreen referbs for $69 when tbey blew em out. Like all Zenoah non strato saws, they are split case with quad open ports. Minus base gasaket IIRC they time out around 105/125/75 and run very well with just port matching the exaust, cleaning up the transfers and gutting the cat muffler (Mine all had one). Ive been experimenting with how far i can go with porting and timing. i have other clones from Joncutter and others and these are the best. Cleaned jup as above, these run as well or better than any sub 40cc saw around. My truck saw runs 11k in the cut and 14.5k WOT w 1.5 turns on th H side sand very minimal porting. Prior to Ryobi selling these, they sold a proper Zenoah/redmax built saw.

  • @snoopjonnyjon
    @snoopjonnyjon ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the Ryobi might actually be a genuine Zenoah-built saw. I've seen other models of Ryobi pulled apart that had "Zenoah" cast into the cylinder. I also noted it had a Zama carb vs the Craftsman having a Chinese knockoff.

  • @ericgauthier7414
    @ericgauthier7414 ปีที่แล้ว

    Something I noticed when you've shown us the intake is that ryobi has a zama while the craftman has a weird carb (couldn't read it). Another awesome vid, keep it up :-)

    Do whatever you want to it even if returning it. If you bought from a big box store the saw is not likely to be put back on the shelf. It will be sent back to the distributor or to the box store's warehouse for liquidation.

      I just bought the craftsman a couple of months ago 16” for $179 it’s my first saw so I didn’t want to get something nice because if I screw up I didn’t want to ruin a expensive one but so far I’ve cut 2+ cords with it and haven’t had any issues, so I figure I can beat the hell out of it then get a good one I just don’t know if I should go Husky or Stihl

    Youch those are cheap! I've taken apart a new poulan, it was equally awful.
    Best buy saws I've ever experienced are used echos:
    CS 530 for $170. It's a much better saw than my CS 4910 and outcuts it too.
    Picked up a like-new CS 6700 for $225. 67 cc's of pro saw goodness. Less than half the price of what I paid for a cs 620, and it's definitely its definitely more powerful. 7 ccs more displacement.
