This is why it is important to judge someone according to the way they act and not their appearance. This woman demonstrated more courage in a moment than some will do in a lifetime.
Bravery acknowledges no fear or hesitation whilst on the other hand courage includes the presence of fear. I would say that bravery more closely describes her actions. My hat goes off to her, what an awesome person she is.
The only thing that she demonstrated was stupidity, that's it. This little wannabe feel-good story could have been so much different if that bear wasn't really worrying about trying to keep its eye on it's cubs while also paying attention to them. If it had decided to give that little dummy all it's attention and charged down there, then this little wannabe feel-good story is a tragedy. And in my opinion it would mostly be because the cubs lose their mother after angry folks want to put it down over this kids stupidity.
Well, but she is reckless...if she got slapped by the bear and get injured, I think the bear will get sedated or even worse got killed, leaving the cubs orphaned. Its demonstarted how humans need to be wise since we took alot of the space AND provide the animals with alot of trash to pick in. So don't waste your food.

She probably saved the bears life. If it had gotten a pet, chances are it could have been put down, for just being a bear and eating food. She kept both her dogs and the bear and her cub(s) safe

I was just walking with my babies until these mad dogs and a girl came charging at me. My instinct was to protect my babies.
This young lady is 100% badass. She saved that dog's life for sure. She sized up the situation; saw where the bear was situationally vulnerable and exploited the weakness to save her dog and without taking damage herself. You can't teach that. Miss Morinico is tough as nails!

This is really no different from saving a dog who falls through the ice into a very cold river/lake/pond and the owner jumps into the water despite the cold temperatures to save it. You do whatever you need to do to save your dog. Obviously you didn’t see the clip of the Florida man whose puppy was dragged into and under the water by a gator, and the owner jumped in and wrestled the puppy out of the gator’s mouth to save his life without a second thought about what he was doing. Hailey is right up there with him. I applaud them both.

Bravest thing you ever saw? Just off the top of my head what those passengers did on 911 to make the plane crash in a field rather than the White House seems a little more brave to me, or maybe the cops and firefighters who ran into the towers as people were running out. She pushed a bear off a wall.
I'm not only amazed by this young hero's bravery...but how quickly she acted, and rounded her dogs up. My animals are not that cooperative, but they were probably eager to get inside also! She would have been the bear's target moments later. She truly is amazing! Her family must be so proud of her!
That was acting by instinct in the moment, thank God it went well. As a dog lover I can understand how much we love our dogs and she had the knowledge that one of the dogs was her Moms emotional support giving an added incentive to act. What a dramatic event with such a good outcome, the teen, her dogs as well as the bear and her cubs all survived.

FACTS.. If the bear was looking and seen the girl running forward she would have charged the girl protecting her cubs if would be a whole different news story..

The teenager was protecting the dogs. No indication that the bear had cubs with it. Could have been a male. Shows to go you what humans taking over the bears' natural habitat can cause. In a fraction of a second, the young woman saw an opportunity and stung the bear like a bee. Mohammed Ali would be impressed.

Agree. The girl's instinct to try to snatch the dog away might have still occurred, but the ease of pushing a wide bear off a narrow wall was the most obviously logical factor in this case. She was still brave, but also very lucky.

First of all, letting the dogs out all together at the same time was a giant mistake. Sounds like they were inside and were let outside. Who lets anyone anywhere near a Bear and her Cubs? A mother Bear is the SO unpredictable when around her Cubs. Her first instinct is protect the Cubs. One lucky swipe from that Bear and that girl is down and out. Then the DNR is there shooting the Bear dead calling it danger to society because of human stupidity.
