I didn’t realise how much that last CEO ruined Starbucks’s balance sheet by constantly opening new stores even with declining store spend, Brian needs to halt store expansion immediately and focus on current store sales.
What Starbucks seems to be missing is that Gen Z customers are quite different-if a company's behavior and values don't align with theirs, they simply won't shop there. Starbucks' recent stance on unions, politics, and other issues e.g. wars ! is a prime example of this disconnect.
Starbucks employee unionization probably also hurt productivity while increasing costs. Bringing robots to make coffee and other drinks, while reducing the number of SKUs is going to be important - to significantly improve the experience while reducing costs!! And yes, doing it rapidly!! When Laxman was gloating about not working beyond 6pm, it sends the wrong signal to all employees that nothing is urgent!!
Well they can start by making my drink right. The last two times it was wrong and when I went back to get it corrected, they were rude and put out. I won’t give them a 3rd try.
