She's running great. Was a lot of work to remove old battery tray. and modify new ones to fit properly but well worth the effort. Can't wait to see at the speed spot
I've always loved the look and speed of this boat but knew it has a flipping problem. You just gave me the confidence to buy me one. Though I'd say this boat is not for beginners. Sure do miss you man, hope your doing good.
That's a massive improvement Big B. I won't run mine unless the tug is there and I flip it everytime. Think it's time to invest in a dremel. Thanks for the great work mate, saves everyone a lot of work.
I'm always surprised at how very small adjustments make big differences. Adjusting a strut, or a turn fin, or in this case, your CG (center of mass would be a more accurate term). Lowering your batteries by 1/2" or so made a huge difference. You mentioned longer, lower batteries. If you have the horizontal room to do it, that may make a noticeable improvement as well. I've had a number of cats that liked to flip in a turn. The worst ever was the MHZ Micro Iceberg. It was relatively long with a deep, yet narrow tunnel. It's small size made it hard to get enough of the weight low enough. The best cat I had (still have) is that Micro Scat Cat Twin. With motors in the sponsons and a shallow, wide tunnel, it's hard to flip. Therein lies one of the big conundrums of basic cat design: Low, wide tunnels corner better; tall, narrow tunnels are less likely to become aircraft with bad landing characteristics in the straights. Pick your poison. What I'm saying is every catamaran is a compromise and the Veles is no exception. That said, you have that thing running nearly flawlessly at its maximum potential. Keep tinkering!
Big B it work,, I can tell cuz have this boat I know n I see the difference could I ask how far did u cut down with the Dremel and what kind of cutting tool do you use how far did you go down half inch quarter inch I don't want to be cutting into the Hull that's y I ask thanks,, Wisconsin
I went straight down with a common metal cut off wheel as far as it would allow me to cut in to the caulking. Then finished with a hand saw. I cut the two outside slits off the battery tray 2.15- 2.25" overall width, then trimmed the tray to fit in the boat as low as I could get it to sit in the sponson.
Usually heat will soften up the glue enough to manhandle the trays out. I wouldn't use heat on an ABS boat, but fiberglass can take the heat. That is unless they use some kind of CA glue at the factory. CA doesn't soften up so you got to use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel just like Big B did. Cheers!
We through our boats in the water to create a bigger hole for our money, dah! ProBoat:Department of research and development. To whom it may concern, your lead technician, Big B, does not get payed enough probably not at all this is a major oversight and we here at the BG4FL would like to see this gentleman at lease be compensated with free boat halls in the future. So question I have a black jack 24 and the boat got sea water in it, and last time I was trying to run it but it wouldn’t do nothing and all of a sudden it did but then I wouldn’t again, few months later the battery was swollen, now my question is any other electronic gonna be bad or can I just buy a new battery and it’s gonna run fine?
i have converted the little 17 miss geico similar to yours and i use the air soft 3s-4s 2000mah like Dr Jet uses . there very lightweight for 2000mah and they fit right down in the sponsons perfect fit. ...
@@IRONCLADRC actually i think yours is faster than mine im using a 2838 4700kv surpass, but i've had smaller on ,and it did well. i also have 2838 3200 and 2435 3300kv also surpass i wonder if i would do better with those ???? they can actually handle a 4s which is to much for that little boat. what do you think??? should i go lower to 3200??? you have more experience with it working than me. i used the replacement barbwire flex cable . stuffing tube etc. etc. off set rudder and ztw 40a esc. prop wise a oxidean 28-30. 32 seemed a little to much unfortunately but maybe not if i was using a 3200kv? your the only person i know to ask these questionss :} i watch your videos every morning with my coffee. keep it up. i should have maybe emailed this to a little much. i apologize
Nice Job Big B. My Veles, when she flips, the motor will keep running and I'm not even on the throttle. It stops on its own but she also keeps breaking the flex shaft at the coupler. Very frustrating. Any ideas?
I've got a change to grab a RTR with dual cooling rudder and 2 offshore sharpen and balanced props for a screaming deal, 300ish. I'm an Arrma Basher and this will be my first boat. I'm thinking get it and go for it because that's what I did when I bought my first Krayton 6S. Then I have to make a recovery boat but with the money I save, I can probably find one cheap..
Best driving tip I can give you is to take corners at speed. Once this hull comes off the plane, it tends to roll in low speed turns.. Hopefully this helps
Boat gang for the win. Now the veles handles almost as good as it looks. I had great luck with lowering the trays too. Unfortunately a blown stuffing tube has stopped me from test any more. It is very satisfying to make alterations such as this and see the results first hand. Great video as always bro
@@IRONCLADRC it’s a give and take on the inspiration bro. I get highly motivated watching your videos as well. That’s the great thing about boat gang right? Lifting each other up , supporting the hobby and learning new stuff everyday. Bg4life
Been waiting for this one....Idk ive not had the low speed problem. what i found is that laying into it at high speeds, as long as its dialed and on edge it turns like a cat should. But i definitely have plans for this one. Thanks for sharing.
Big B, do your possibly have a link for this low profile trays. That looks like just the thing I need. Thanks brother!!! Love the channel and your seemingly never ending great information!! Keep it coming!
Hi Big B. Even with the mods to the COG, you can still see that as soon as she comes off plane the rear portions of the sponsors submerge creating a very wet area wanting to grab hold of the outside of the hull. I guess it would be like cornering at moderate speed in a car and scraping the outside wheels on the kerb, it's going to try to roll it over. Still it does appear to be a little better, good job!!
Great job brother 👏 👍 As you know cats are notoriously poor at cornering - built for straight line speed. But to get as much stability and agility into the Veles is a real win 🏆 🙌 I would recommend HRB 5000mAh 50c (100c burst) 3s packs - I have 4 of them. Awesome batteries and may just be the long, thin packs you need. They are a hair wider at 48mm (Spektrum smart 5000mAh 50c is 46mm) but they're 150mm long (Spektrum 140mm) and only 23mm thick (Spektrum 35mm). Not the cheapest LiPos on the market but I highly recommend them 😉
those hrb are well made. i've heard people say differently but i couldn't help but notice it was all fpv flyers any brand battery gonna blow up if your smaking it on the ground :} i use 2 6s 1800s in my riggers they just barely fit , but have had flip overs and they were dangling in the water both plugged it for over 10mins. and not even a slight puff. so your right there good :}ive had good luck with ovonic 4s also reasonably priced many cycles
It definitely happens after a high-speed run when you lift and go to turn, and it’s the most annoying thing, I’m gonna do my boat soon also and I may be a few other things to see if we can aluminate it all together.
If you have 4 3cell same size could run 2 parallel each side 4 each side. With right adapter 4x3s would still be 6s would give higher mah would be twice as big but not taller keeping it low would add alote of weight but would evenly throughout boat ! Try it i dare you lol .. nice job by the way !!
I don’t think it has anything to do with other that it sits so deep in the water. It doesn’t sit on top the water like most others. My neighbors geico 36 is the same way
Yea she's a heavy boat & sits deep like you say, but I'd rather have a low center heavy boat than a high centered heavy boat, Any day of the week. She handled much better with lower cg

Do you have a video on how you blueprinted this boat?
No but I have a video on blueprinting the little miss geico 17
If you didn't want to replace the battery trays, I'm wondering if you could just add some wheel weights infringement and back of the existing trays
That may help yes, keep in mind that boats like to be light weight, keep the extra weight to a minimum
Wow! Nicely done Big B, what a difference! Any recommendations for how to best remove the stock adhesive from the floor of the interior?
I used a sanding flap wheel. ( not aggressive
