Just picked up a bottle of Drakkar Noir again and I still love it. The formulation has been updated since the late 80's to make it a little airier and more modern. No hair on my chest yet, but my voice does drop two octaves every time I wear it. Great video!!!
Please do a part 2 video in this series. I would love your take on Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui. I also enjoy Grey Flannel as well as vintage Polo green.
Drakkar Noir has been my signature scent for decades. I’m wearing right now. It still smells modern to me.
You should do another list. These are real fragrances for men, and how a real man should smell. Almost all of the scents from the 70’s and 80’s are powerhouses with excellent performance and outstanding longevity for a good price.
In no particular order:

My first fragrances were Polo green in 1984 and Drakkar in 1986. I don't wear them anymore but I do have a soft spot for them.

Great list and I enjoyed it and I like drakkar noir and I'm going to try the other fragrances and polo safari is my favorite old school fragrance it's a 10 out 10 and have a blessed 🌙

Surprised Zino by Davidoff and Quorum didn't make the list. I find Zino to be far more animalic than Lapidus Pour Homme. Drakkar Noir was my original signature scent back in the 80s just bought a new bottle last week. 👍👍. Oscar Pour Lui is just amazing and very affordable. With the exception of Zino I doubt I will ever be without any of the others in my collection..All amazing classic Men's Frags. Great video..👍👍👍

I wear Lapidus to work. I love it. It reminds me of my father everytime and all 80s and 90s. Light on the trigger. 2, at most 3 sprays and only in cold weather

The original Lacoste is actually sitting in front of me right now. 🤣 Sprayed it on in the evening as a comforter and boy does it do the job. Luckily, the spicy, sage-y amber really help to balance the oakmoss and lime in the drydown. Less hair than peach fuzz I'm afraid. 🤣 Incidentally, my sotd was Cartier's Santos edt concentree - now that stuff could intimidate a teenage rebel or two.

I love Ethel Waters, Lena Horn, Percy Sledge, Donna Summer, Mariah and Her. In other words, the quality is the determining factor for its value. I love your vids.

Calvin and Drakkar were my two colognes in college (late 80s). I still wear Calvin. I buy the minis on eBay then pour into a sprayer. Works perfectly.

Just to share my experience with Tad Lapidus pour homme. My first experience with Lapidus probably was 35 years ago. Since then has been using until 6 years ago which I explore to many other houses. I can say I have used more than 20 bottles of Lapidus pour homme. Those days, the Lapidus pour homme has a sweet powerful scent. Last week, I tried the Lapidus pour homme again and to my shock, the new bottle scent is almost different from those days Lapidus pour homme. The new Lapidus scent is just ok,sadly
This could also be ‘top 10 fragrances that can be used in self defense’. A lot of these are so potent in my memory because it felt like they were oversprayed. Gray flannel and Aspen honorable mentions.
Awesome video, I love the idea of the classic gentlemen chest hair growing fragrances! Please check out Bel Ami Vetiver it will not disappoint you! Also, correction the first men's Hermes fragrance was Eau D'Hermés by Edmond Roudniska which came out in 1951.

Wow, I'm surprised to see Oscar up there. That scent has been in my life forever as my dad had it and I bought it later in life when it was just Oscar. I think they added the Pour Lui later on - but it's still the old scent that's I guess is tried and true. Only wear it at night though - it's not for the daytime or the office.
Oh, and stay faaaar away from the Fresh version. It's wretched.

I got a sample of Antaeus last month and I really enjoyed it. I've been looking to add a Chanel to my collection but I've been on the fence which one. Out of all that I've sampled, so far Pour Monsieur EDP and Antaeus are in the lead for which one I'll get. Still have a few others to try before making my final decision.
Side note, I'm sampling one of your favorite cold weather fragrances today, by Serge Lutens, Chergui. I really quite enjoy it, too.

Great list Steven! However, the two I've smelled from this list are a love and a hate for me. I absolutely LOVE Drakkar Noir! It was my Dad's signature scent and it brings back so many wonderful memories of him to me! Now I'm the Dad who's rockin' this gem and I couldn't be happier! In fact, it's still in the top 5 best fragrances within my collection! Now we get to the hate part! A friend of mine from Fragcomm gave me several random bottles of fragrance and included within that group, was the dreaded Ted Lapidus Pour Homme. I cannot STAND that fragrance and thank God I was able to sell it! Coming off of me, it smells like a nuclear urinal cake! Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have such ridiculous performance, but for me, it's a "HELL NO!!" Btw, thank you for reminding me of Pierre Cardin Pour Homme! I remember liking that one years ago, so I might just pick it up again sometime. I'd also like to request a follow up to this video. There are obviously a bunch of frqgrances which you weren't able to include here and one that DEFINITELY needs more love and recognition is Davidoff Zino! Truly a man's man fragrance which is quite unique and very well done, especially for the price! Thanks again for all you do for the community my friend! You are a class act with incredible knowledge and love for fragrance!

Please to all the younger crowd do not blind by givenchy gentlemen, it smell like detol in the dry down and has not aged well at all. As for drakkar noir. it is way more timeless and even modern fragrances take some ideas from drakkar noir today.
