    What would you think about fluids servicing. Stuff like flushing the power steering fluid and gearbox oil. There's nothing in the manual about it but I would think it's best to replace these oils since overtime they would wear and lose lubricity

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you only need to top-up the steering fluid, but the gearbox could be changed, I changed mine, but it's not such a big issue if the box works ok. If you change it you need to get the right oil as the viscosity is important for gear changes to be smooth.

    Great work. Could you do a video on the different type of common connector types on vw|skoda and how to operate then. Would be a really educational video for all DIYers. Last day after getting to headlight connector had a hard time figuring out how to disconnect the thing, seems easy but with out the proper instructions a first timer would break it sometimes.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks. The trouble is there are many connectors with different types of clips. The main ones that is often difficult and can break are those I showed in this video at the start taking off the bumper electrical connectors to the fog lights. many are like that. I've shown these on a number of videos, I think this one shows a broken one: th-cam.com/video/ZauDiNcQ63g/w-d-xo.html I am planning to do one though on some other connectors, I'm just waiting for the parts to come.

    If just replacing washer bottle pump can it be done via wheel arch? Can no longer hear the washer pump when trying to clear windscreen, checked fuses all good so going to replace pump next.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you just need to undo the front edge of the liner and bend it back a bit. If you have a test light or multimeter you can test the pump connection first to see if there is power there when you activate the switch.

    Is this replacement part suitable for Skoda Octavia 1.6 2007 sedan model? The washer pipe is on the left side of the rear.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be honest, I don't know, but I wouldn't have thought so as the body is larger on the Octavia and would allow a larger bottle.

    I just payed my mechanic in Istria to put a new one, parts were around 30 pounds, and work 20. Its best to replace bottle, pump and hose at the same time as parts are cheap in comparison to work.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a bargain price and probably worth it to avoid the hassle, but IMHO cheaper and more satisfying doing it yourself :-)

    Luckily I didn't need to remove the bumper or the bottle itself, but the bit about the wheel arch liner saved me from the clutches of KwikFit. All I had to do was move the line out of the way enough to get decent hand-access to the bottle, where I found part of the pipework/joinery had partially come apart. Popped it back in like a dislocated shoulder and my water bottle is no longer leaking.
    Thanks for tip!! :D

    It would be of a great help to see how to repair the clogged nozzles or how to take them off...I think my left is not good...maybe to clean it with needle, don't know what to do...

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, Unfortunately these prove very difficult to clean out when the spray pattern goes faulty, it is best to buy new ones, but I haven't found after-market jets to be of any good, only the OEM ones work well. I have always wanted to find an alternative jet that is cheap, sprays well and can be cleaned well. I'll keep looking and let everyone know If I find a great alternative :-)

    • @robiszi7932
      @robiszi7932 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great, thanks. Just to add, I've tried yesterday with the needle,pushed it through, and after sprayed with WD40,then will see...and maybe could be the issue with weakened pump, or some sludge that is down there in reservoir...I want to see 2 nice decent triangles of washer fluid on my window, but the rightone is not so good, it is better now though(without squirting),but not as it should be...and washer fluid consumption is still high

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First check for obvious connection/wire breaks etc and then you can test the resistance of the heater coil to see if it has either too much or a short which would indicate a new one needed no doubt. The wires would be the same colour. you can also do a live voltage test with the engine warmed up and then introduce more air to see if the reading is as expected and changes you just need to know which wire is which for your particular sensor.

    Hello my frend... My fabia have horn problem... Dont work...
    Maybe you can help me...

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have a look at the fuse first then test the connecting wire that goes to the horn behind the fog-light grill. if there is enough power 12v+ power suspect the horn unit which you could also test separately and also maybe adjust it as that maybe all that is needed (I can't remember if these are adjustable or not, if not then it will need replacing). If the switches inside the steering wheel are suspect then you will have to take that cover off also.I will do a video of this at some stage :-)

    I found out that my washer fluid is leaking! It is coming out of my bumper. I looked for the tank and its look like the motor is leaking. I think that the rubber sealing is defect, how can I repair it?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would take the motor off by pulling upwards and then clean the seal thoroughly before re-inserting it. That should work, if not then silicone sealant may be an option, but if not a new unit I think would be the only option.

      @@HatBoyHarvey Your video was a big help! Thanks! I ha done exactly that what you wrote! I took out the motor, cleaned the rubber sealant, but added an o ring on the shaft of the motor. As second I thought on silicon too!

    How long did it take?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a bit of a fiddle finding the best way to remove it, that's why I did the video to help give people an idea of how to do it. Bumper comes off/on in 5 minutes and I'd give yourself half an hour to extract and install a new or repaired one, (took me much long with filming) but that is just an estimate and depending on experience it may take much longer or as little as 5 minutes :-)

  • @SirDrakeNewcanon
    @SirDrakeNewcanon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    And of course, the bolt where you need the extension is corroded, so the nut will not come off and the another end is in the plastic, so you can get it loose!

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All you can do is soak it with penetrating fluid and thin oil. If still no luck then you will have to take a lot more parts off to get better access.
