  • Meet the little terrors of Georgia, avoid these kids at all cost, especially in Tbilisi and Batumi; they tried to rob my friend and I. These gypsy kids come in a brave girl group of ages between 4 and 13; they are taught to target tourists/foreigners. This tourist nightmare video might just save you a lot of money and headaches.

Guys some of you might think this is cool but it isn't cool at all. These kids don't ask for money they come with an intention to rob, so let's share and let others know. It gets extremely bad in the summer, especially in Batumi and Tbilisi. My female friend lost $500, a passport, and things of sentimental value when they robbed her. I have seen how these kids operates and it is very bad

Thanks for sharing your experience. It mirrors the unfortunate experiences of others and should NOT be censored. We (travellers) fully support those in need, and we don't deserve violence/assault. It's unfortunate, but sometimes, it's the safest alternative to keep them from robbing/assaulting you. They are trained to do this. Period. Nonetheless, it's important to bring awareness of reality. So, thanks for sharing the good and bad. It helps others. Peace and love!

    • @RJinspire
      @RJinspire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Thank you brother for helping to highlight what we face as travellers. There's a big difference between asking for money and robbing tourists intentionally as thee kids are trained for that and they do turn violent at times. I don't make these kind of videos but when a friend of mine gets assaulted, robbed of $500, passport etc then I will make such a video to warn others; robbery is robbery and there's no other way of sugarcoating it👍

Tell your niece to avoid entertaining any kids approaching her and asking for money, they are normally backed up by a group of many kids and the parents usually pick the victim. I experienced the same just a week before. I was in center of Tbilisi near freedom square when I was surrounded by a bunch of kids ( aged about 8 to 13 years). They came and tried to hug me and then all of together were holding me from my leg and putting their hands in my pockets to grad cell phone, wallet and other belongings. I had to use all the pressure to push them and then run away. This happened in the evening with several people around. My taxi driver ( Georgian guy) informed that these are gypsy people in Georgia. The police in Georgia needs to check this immediately else tourists won’t visit this place. Guys trust me this is very dangerous and a unique kind of way where in kids try to rob you in this manner.

The guy in this video didn't mention that these kids are not native Georgians; I wondered that as their appearance and tactics made it pretty clear they are Roma (Gypsies). These people seem to be pariahs all over Europe and now even Central Asia too. I don't really get it as they're pretty assimilated in North America, or at least you never see sh*t like this in Canadian or American cities. Some begging scammers but that's about it, certainly not large gangs of criminal children.

Don't hit kids! There is a very good method (I learned it in the Balkans, and then again in Russia, it works everywhere against gypsy beggars). You just need to swear at them in the most rude way. The gypsies perceive this as dangerous sorcery and run away. What words to say - ask the Georgians, Armenians or Russians. Local gypsies will understand all options :)

The cities in Georgia look beautiful; it's too bad there are people like this there ruining it for everyone. Big problem in cities in Europe as well. It seems these children are confident nothing bad will happen to them no matter what they do, even physically assaulting people to get their money; in the past most people wouldn't have hesitated to hit or kick them, so the fear of pain was generally a good enough deterrent. I had a co-worker in China, a big American guy, who said that he routinely pushed aggressive beggars away, even children, sometimes hard enough to make them fall over. I thought that was a bit extreme, but they really can be unbearable, physically blocking your path or surrounding you. Once they know a certain person won't put up with it, word goes around and they all leave him alone, because the chance at getting money is not worth getting hurt.

The same type of kids are in Istanbul. Some months ago, before the quake, an older kid walked up to a lady who had taken out a money note to pay a vendor. The kid tried to snatch the money from the side approach & amazingly, the lady was quick enough to move her hand up from the snatch. Wow. Very fast reflex. Usually in Istanbul, the kids just walk around & sneak into malls (but are chased out by security guards), but that one example, I saw one of them actually try to snatch money.

There were so many people standing there and watching the show, i asked for help but no one came forward.
We went to the police station and they didn’t took any action yet, and clearly said that they can not do anything about it. We asked them to catch that group via CCV tv footage because camera was there where we got robbed but they didn’t and gave us hopeless signs.

Yes; I've never been to South America but have heard this kind of thing isn't a big problem in all countries. It doesn't seem to have that much to do with levels of poverty or homelessness, but with culture. I lived in China for four years and there are a lot of beggars there, including children, but you never saw anything like this level of aggression.I got robbed only once (wallet stolen by a pickpocket on a bus) the whole time I was there. I traveled in Xinjiang, one of the poorest parts of China, and the people were lovely: kind, dignified, and gracious. The kids would come up and say hello to us, but we never got the sense they were just trying to get something out of us or possibly rob us. They were just curious and friendly.

Exact thing happened to me on 2nd Dec on Freedom Square near Spar Market (I guess the location is the same as in the video). 2-3 kids are the same as in the video as well.
They came out of nowhere and two of them clinged to my leg. I was holding in to my wallet as I realised they might do something. Whereas the other 2-3 kids tried to snatch my wife's purse. And in the process my wife stumbled and I rushed to pick her up, and in that very instant one of the kids took out my wallet from my back pocket and then stood behind another girl and took out the entire money and then threw the wallet and ran away. I called the police and reported everything to them and they told me these are gypsy kids and it's a problem for them as well since they do not have any address and don't know where they live and above all kids under 14 cannot be punished by the law, but they will try their best to help us.

Well, the fact that kids under 14 can't be punished by law is obviously what's causing the problem. Here in Canada children under 12 can't be arrested or charged, but if they commit criminal offences, their parents can be charged, and the consequences are serious. We have no child beggars or crooks in Canadian cities, or gangs using children to commit their dirty work for them, because the law just doesn't tolerate it; if children are found living on the streets they go into the foster care system and their parents are charged with neglect.

Big problem in Tbilisi and Batumi, if you do visit, try not to carry too much money and valuables. Dress cheaply and avoid kids asking for money, as soon as kids approach you for money scream as loud as you can, scream like a mad person. Don't entertain them at all

Wore you backpack in the front and if you are travelling with your wife or girlfriend, let her keep your wallet, women are the last targets on those kid's radars. Carry less cash and don't engage in any conversation or help with those kids. when you talk to one of the them , loads of them will suddenly appear and grab your legs

I don't condone what these kids are doing, but since the breakup of the Soviet union and end to communism, the Gipsies have really been left behind, many are not employed anymore, the safety net has gone, social housing has ended, they live in squalid conditions and are treated like subhuman scum, its a very complex situation and so sad.

I don't mind helping desperate people but being robbed isn't cool, my friend. Unfortunately the parents are teaching these kids that robbing tourists is normal and that cant be right. There are decent poor kids who beg on the streets and I do help those but the ones who go all out to rob tourists are not friendly

    • @markstill515

@@RJinspire Its horrible what they are doing, but unfortunately without safety nets extreme poverty has pushed these people into this nasty rotten business,, without tourists a lot more people will be in poverty. Its a vicious circle and many factors involved. Many traditional trades have ended due to technology, factories are manned by even less people and a few highly skilled people are now needed. These people all over Europe some countries are worse than others are at their wits end how to survive. Societies need restructuring as times have changed. I know how horrible it is to be accosted by them, I have faced many scams and being robbed on my travels before you just feel like they all should be eradicated, but they a people that has been oppressed in Europe and all over the World for a long time.

We were in Tbilisi and on 28/11/2023 and waiting for our pickup to the airport and suddenly group of 8 girls teenagers and pregnant women snatched the purse(1000 usd) of my friend and ran away they don't have fear of police and it happened near freedom square and Galleria Mall we called police but they said u have to come to police station and file a complaint but we didn't have much time as we have to catch the flight so we didn't go for complaint. Georgian local peoples are very calm and friendly but this gypsies are shaming down such beautiful country like georgia.police and government official should take some hard actions otherwise they will burn down your country. These are Armenian children. They are trained to extort money, they create problems not only for tourists, but also for local residents. Repelling them is not a problem for Georgians, however, when a guest arrives in the country, they immediately take the time to rob.All this is the fault of the fact that Georgia has not developed a law on fines or imprisonment for minors, often 99% of them disappear in a few seconds, so their arrest is an impossibility. Therefore, as a Georgian person, I encourage visitors to avoid groups of children dressed inappropriately (they often look like this). Always know that they are afraid of you. A simple angry look is enough to calm them down. If you still feel insecure, you can buy a $10 electric shocker or pepper spray in Georgia. . I wish you a successful trip❤❤🇬🇪
