Stressed and overwhelmed are the traditional feelings of the holiday for the people who have to do the planning, buying and preparing the meal so there was no need to apologize. We just make it look easy. Next year add some family drama, dietary restrictions, things out of your control and potential travel, worrying about how many days it is to Christmas when the holiday falls later than normal and trying to decide when to decorate for Christmas in relation to when Thanksgiving falls to the mix to make it even more fun. It is honestly my favorite holiday of the year.

Just a tip for the turkey. To keep some of it warm, take the slices and/or leg joints that you want and place them in a baking dish. Pour a little bit of chicken broth over each piece, just to moisten, cover the pan well with foil and place it in the oven (low to medium temperature) for up to 20 or 30 minutes before you're going to eat. It'll come out super moist and warm/hot. Putting it back in the oven without some moisture in the pan, will just dry it out. Especially the breast meat. 😊
@@bobbiejojackson9448I’m going to do that next year, thanks. I still can’t get everything to come out anywhere near the same time so need tips like this.
@@tangyjoe4326 Oh... that's great. I'm glad I could help a little. Some years we've had over 30 at our house and what we do when we know we're going to have quite a few, is cook 2 turkeys and roast both the night before. My husband will carve all of the meat and we'll follow the same process on a larger scale. We were nervous the 1st year, but the turkey was such a hit the next day, that we've done it every year, since. Everyone is always amazed by how juicy and tender the meat is. And remember that a slow cooker or crock pot can be your best friend when it comes to keeping side dishes nice and toasty or reheating things that you've done the day or night before. Wow! I’m so impressed and happy to see two things that you did. 1. You said what you are thankful for. 2. You used French’s onion rings! Green bean casserole is not the same without those. No substitute for it. Looks delicious! Good job!
Nice work. Next time, add Cranberry Jello salad (has walnuts and raspberry jello in it), fresh Asparagus w/ butter, salt, pepper. Corn on the cob, and Deviled Eggs (most important!) Celery greatly adds to the flavor profiles. If u cant find any.. Use some celery seeds.. Or celery salt. Ohh, a great alternative to mashed potatoes.. Is scalloped potatoes. I also remember having some sort of marshmallow salad... But i cant recall the details at the moment. As for Turkey.. Its best to put into a bag or bucket of salt water + spices.. And keep refrigerated for 2 to 3 days. Brining gives more flavor.. And helps cook faster. After brining, dry turkey then use the seasoned butter trick. I use a lot more seasoning. To maintain moisture, use a lid.. Or use 2 layers of foil. Remove foil near the very end, for browning the skin. For the best Turkey in your life.. Deep fry one. You would need the proper equipment, care, and to do it outside... But its worth it. Re... Baking: Some people put the stuffing, directly inside the turkey... So that is absorbs more turkey flavors. Ohh another holiday favorite, is candied yams. The canned ones are actually not bad. Though, carrots with butter, some sugar, and basil... Is also good / similar. And fyi.. Almost nobody in the USA cooks everything from scratch, on Thanksgiving. Lots of shortcuts. Finally, some irish cream coffee + irish cream liqour.. Would be a good end to the dinner. That, and or spiced apple cider, or mulled wine. Happy Holidays!
As far as these “traditional” Thanksgiving dishes go, my favorite is actually the green bean casserole which is hilarious because I don’t usually like canned green beans 🤷🏻♀️🤣. I think the crispy onions just make me happy. We serve some different dishes as well as some Korean and Chinese dishes as we are an Asian American family so our table is pretty eclectic at holidays.
Y'all were a pitcher of sweet tea and a plate of deviled eggs away from our traditional meal we shared this year! Bravo! It's hard work to tackle all at once on your own. It's always nice when you can rely on guests to bring at least one of the dishes. Again, very proud of your initiative and effort. 💜🤘🏼
I wonder if someone can send sage, basil, plus other spices? Carol, I think you can grow your own, and I'm positive other members could help you with that. You could grow your own.
I am taking this opportunity to Thank You for this video. I like the way you decorated the pumpkin pie. I hope you can use the other can of pumpkin puree for whatever else you want, or another pie. My family always had warm rolls with butter and jelly or apple butter. We always had a relish tray with ranch dip, deviled eggs and sometimes cactus bread. Also, we had a fruit salad with whipped cream. Anyway, Thanks again for the video.
We have Thanksgiving at my grandparents house and the extended family (grandparents, aunts and uncles and all cousins and any children for all of them 5 generations now). We have around 120+ people at once whom all bring some kind of food, so you can eat 3 or 4 platefuls and not even half would have been eaten so everyone has leftovers to take home. We usually have 5 - 25 lbs turkeys cooked different ways, 2 large hams, and various other meats (I make a 4 lbs meatloaf). Along with many, many various sides (main ones being about 50 lbs of cornbread dressing and about 40 lbs of 'dirty' rice) and a couple dozen desserts
Watching this reminds me and my best friend's first Thankgiving. It would have been 1976. That's a long time ago. We called mom for instructions over the phone. Trying get explain how to tuck the wings behind the neck and tying the legs together.that was so funny for us. We laughed so much.
🙂🙂🙂I'm so glad ya'll decided to make a larger Thanksgiving Day lunch/dinner in your new home! Yes it's a lot of work but with practice you can work out a system where you're not having to make everything ON Thanksgiving. Like putting your casseroles together the day before and putting them in the frig. Just set them out on the cabinet the following morning so they can start warming up and then bake them after the turkey is finished baking. Part of the fun of the meal is eating...LEFTOVERS for the next few days! Great job you two!
You did so well, everything looks great. Mouth waters just thinking about the taste... Thanksgiving is on Thursday every year... so we take the Friday off as well to have a four-day weekend to eat leftovers for a couple days after.
The thanksgiving leftover sandwiches are going to be the best thing ever! I'm so happy you both enjoyed! I'm thankful for the both of you and for being here with us creating your videos!
Hugs from Oregon. We hope today finds you and yours healthy and in good spirits. We thank you again for sharing your time with us. We do love you please take care of you and yours.
Looks delicious! ^_^ All seems legit. No worries about any of it being boxed or whatnot. We all do it too, as a shortcut to feed a lot of people. ;) Stovetop stuffing, jellied or whole cranberry sauce from a can. Yum! Green bean casserole with condensed cream soup as a base & "fried onions" on top [not my thing, but some people swear by it]. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Yum! Pumpkin pie, yum! [Usually we'll just get a store-bought pie, or use the canned pumpkin puree recipe with a store-bought crust. Either way, delicious!] Love you guys! Glad you get to have a true "Thanksgiving" dinner in your new house, and happy to have joined you two on the journey! Love your reaction videos, "not a cooking show," et al! Thankful for you guys. Also thankful for recently having bought a small condo starter home. Recently paid off one credit card, and gonna' start working on the other with the freed up cash flow. Hopeful to finally get out of debt entirely (aside form mortgage/HOA dues, of course). Glad to have a stable job, et al.
Could always put the plate of carved turkey into the microwave for like 30 seconds to a minute, and that should get it nice and warmed up right quick... :)
Defo do some left-over sandwiches for the next few days. Great to make a nice turkey slab sandwich with cranberry sauce, a little mayo, some cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. Delicious! Some folks like to pile other stuff like stuffing, gravy, etc. in the sandwich. I like keeping it simple. But, defo try it all the ways... ^_^
You two did a great job making these American dishes. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves, many of us who do this every year don't do this well. You should never apologize for using the "shortcuts" - in reality, we all use some of them, we just choose which ones. Gotta say, though, that now you have made all the dishes, your next challenge is what is difficult for us all - getting all of these dishes and the turkey onto the table HOT together. It helps if you have two ovens - one for the turkey and the other for everything else. Also, when we do it at family gatherings, whoever hosts the dinner makes the turkey and everyone else makes and brings the sides so all you have to do is heat them back up. Also, like you did with the pie, just about everything except the turkey and rolls can be made the day before. And Recky, absolutely, traditional plans for after dinner are sitting on the couch with an overly full belly and watching football until it's time for coffee and dessert. Also, you don't put away the food after the dinner, because everyone goes back to the smorgasbord randomly all day. Welcome to becoming more American every day thanks to your enablers. 🦃🇺🇸🤠
💕 you did such a great job on everything! It’s hard to get everything ready at the same time! It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the things we’re grateful for and recognize our blessings! Grateful to you both for sharing your lives!! Happy Thanksgiving to you both!!
Every bite can have a different taste because you can combine each in different ways. Ex. Turkey + stuffing +gravy + cranberry; mashed potato + green bean + turkey
You will get your timing down to where all your food is hot at the same time. While turkey is baking all the sides are being done together the last hour of bake. Then everything comes to table hot at the same time. Happy everyone is healthy, have homes to live in, jobs to support themselves in this family this year!
Carol, the one thing I always do with the turkey bones and scraps is to make my families "Danish turkey and dumplings". It is actually what my family likes most about Thanksgiving day dinner!! I have to quadruple the batch of dumplings in order to avoid family quarrels because they always fight over how many others got. If you would like the recipe for the dumplings, let me know, I think you would like them as they are dense, eggy and yummy!

I have to comment that i really enjoyed this. Think of this, this tradition started out as a harvest feast. Eat some of the good food before storing it away for the long winter. If it was a good harvest you were together with the family ...often extended family or a small community with everyone contributing something and helping in some way. It is a Blessing and a time to connect and reflect. Thank you for taking part. Well done.
Great bounty on a Thankful day. So happy you shared your first Thanksgiving in your new home. It will be a memorable moment for you. We enjoyed sharing Thanksgiving with our friends and their family. Our family lives thousands of miles away. The best to you from Idaho.❤
No worries on pressure. We all have different levels and ways of cooking. Don't be too hard on yourselves. Most of us do not do everything from scratch. There just isn't enough time for it. Especially when it can take 2 days for all of the prep work and baking certain things that can be done in advance. No worries. We all have our shortcuts and time savers so we can make our dinners better.

I use Stovetop too. I like the cornbread one and I swap the water for chicken broth and add extra diced onion and celery but definitely go for the shortcuts!
@@susiemendenhall4307my sister’s kids prefer Stovetop but she and I love our mom’s stuffing with apples and raisins so I make it and give her half. She makes homemade buns so that’s what she gives me in trade.
Superb job! Happy Thanksgiving! 🥧🦃
Looks delicious!! A lot of Americans use short cuts.
Sending additional love just in case you need it brother and sister.
Love this!
During the summer/fall ican send freshly dried herbs if you want.
OMG Recky and Carol GREAT JOB. You guys are AWESOME and you did such a wonderful great job. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for taking me time to share your meal and time with us. I always get excited for your videos. 🥰🥰❤️💛❤️💛
Wow! I’m so impressed and happy to see two things that you did.
1. You said what you are thankful for.
2. You used French’s onion rings! Green bean casserole is not the same without those. No substitute for it.
Looks delicious! Good job!
Homemade fried onions are even better but so much work on top of a lot of work.
You guys did an amazing job!
Everything looks delicious. Wow, great job! 😍
to make the turkey moist inside put frozen butter cubes under the skin not lemon
Happy Thanksgiving💗🦃
We pour the gravy on the turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing here in the southern U.S..Some of us don't even mind if it gets on the cornbread. 😁
You did a fantastic job!🎉🎉🎉 Hours to prepare, minutes to eat😂😂😂.
... days of leftovers.
You guys did amazing.
You did an awesome job!
Happy Thanksgiving from Georgia USA
Your Thanksgiving spread was beautiful! ❤
I'm thankful for family, friends, and Recky & Carol, who puts a smile on my face every time I watch you two.
I cooked all morning also, but the family ate well. Hope you enjoyed the experience. Love from South Carolina ❤
Looks very good, guys ❤, Happy Holidays!!!
Nice work. Next time, add Cranberry Jello salad (has walnuts and raspberry jello in it), fresh Asparagus w/ butter, salt, pepper. Corn on the cob, and Deviled Eggs (most important!)
Celery greatly adds to the flavor profiles.
Happy Holidays!
you did very good.
The gravy should be hot so it will warm up anything that gets cold. Gravy on stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy is awesome!
I am glad you mentioned that because turkey always cools off and you don't give it a second thought. You put warm gravy over it and it is perfect.
My family doesn’t like canned string beans. We make our green bean casserole with fresh or frozen green beans. They don’t have to come from a can.
Amazing job you two! Your research really shows Carol. That was an excellent copy of a traditional American Thanksgiving.
Sounds so good! We are planering to try deviled eggs very soon so we didnt have it with this but looking forward to it! Thank you Duane 🌹
U guys did a AMAZING job. Enjoy your American Thanksgiving meal your American family loves you .😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Thank you ❤️❤️
We have Thanksgiving at my grandparents house and the extended family (grandparents, aunts and uncles and all cousins and any children for all of them 5 generations now).
Your Thanksgiving meal looks very delicious. Thankful for my family and friends. Love to you both ❤️🤗
Watching this reminds me and my best friend's first Thankgiving. It would have been 1976. That's a long time ago. We called mom for instructions over the phone. Trying get explain how to tuck the wings behind the neck and tying the legs together.that was so funny for us. We laughed so much.
Great job both of you it looks really really good.. enjoy 🤗
I absolutely LOVE you guys and love your videos happy Thanksgiving ❤️❤️❤️
that's a really good job guys!!!
It's a lot of work, but it's all worth it. ,😊
You did so well, everything looks great. Mouth waters just thinking about the taste... Thanksgiving is on Thursday every year... so we take the Friday off as well to have a four-day weekend to eat leftovers for a couple days after.
Heat ur gravy up to pour over turkey- will warm it up
I’m so very blessed for my wonderful hard working husband and wonderful children and grandchildren ❤
If you know what a bull in a china shop is....Recky is a gremlin in the kitchen. Not a cooking show though.....Fun to watch them both.
Recky and Carol you did such a great job on Thanksgiving dinner!!! Iam so proud of you both.
Wow you made a delicious looking meal
The thanksgiving leftover sandwiches are going to be the best thing ever! I'm so happy you both enjoyed! I'm thankful for the both of you and for being here with us creating your videos!
You guys did a great job. Thank you for celebrating our holiday with you.
Happy Thanksgiving! It looks amazing! Great job!
Hugs from Oregon. We hope today finds you and yours healthy and in good spirits. We thank you again for sharing your time with us. We do love you please take care of you and yours.
I ran into a fellow Oregonian on here, how fun.😊
Looks delicious! ^_^ All seems legit.
No worries about any of it being boxed or whatnot. We all do it too, as a shortcut to feed a lot of people. ;)
Stovetop stuffing, jellied or whole cranberry sauce from a can. Either way, delicious!]
Love you guys!
Wow! Congrats on 30k!!🎉👏🎆
Thank you 🤗
Carol you did a awesome job at decorating the pumpkin 🥧 !! Everything looked delicious
Everything looked great! I bet your refrigerator is full! 😂❤
Awesome job. Super traditional and perfect.
I am thankful for the sane people of this world like you guys! Thank you
Great job guys!!! It looks AMAZING!
💕 you did such a great job on everything! It’s hard to get everything ready at the same time! It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the things we’re grateful for and recognize our blessings! Grateful to you both for sharing your lives!! Happy Thanksgiving to you both!!
Thanksgiving leftovers are the best! 😊😋
Y'ALL DID WONDERFUL ! WE ARE THANKFUL FOR YOU AND ALL YOU DO....GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT !
So glad you enjoyed it so much! I like it that you chose to dress up, Americans are very casual dressers normally, but even we dress up to celebrate this holiday with our families. 🤠👗🧥
You did a great job! There are so many things to be thankful for. My family. My friends. My house. And sweet internet channels to balance all of the drama out in the world.
The theme of Thanksgiving is gobble til ya wobble! I love the corn casserole, but you certainly did everything amazingly well. And don't be fooled. We don't all cook everything from scratch. I'm thankful for family, friends, our home, a good job, and our little 4 legged family that showers us with unconditional love ❤
I am so happy that you were able to Celebrate Our Thanksgiving food for yourself. ❤ and blessings from Southern California. 🇺🇲
Great job. Thankful for the joy of watching you. I am so grateful for special relationships in my life. They are highly valued and bring meaning and joy into life... my God, my family, friends.
Amazing !!!!!!!! Making Americans proud !!
I'm thankful for your channel !! Come celebrate with me any day!!
It is wonderful to see you have the expereince of great food that helps you remember how bountiful and good life really is. Blessings to you both.
Looks delicious guys. I'm kinda new here. American Swede. Live in N. J. across bridge from Philadelphia. FYI if you ever get near here there is the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philly from 1926. Oldest Swedish museum in U.S. Queen Chrisina granted it back then to build it because of the many Swedish people in the area way before. Been to many Lucia festivals and may pole there. Google it you will be very surprised.
There is a lot of Swede history in old Philly.
Thanks for being so open to America culture. GOD BLESS YOU
Congratulations Carol and Recky I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday meal it looks amazing.
