Amazing! At what angle was your keel?

Totally up. I have a short keel (1,10 m), so the keel is approx. 12 cm out of the keel box in the upper position.

@@Seascape-18-AUT-007 , thanks for your answer! So, it's was very delicate: any loss of control and a slight turn into the wind would end up in broaching? I'd love to see that in person / have you onboard my ssc18 to demonstrate that:)!... And, do I understand correctly that the short keel is wider than the regular one (that's why it doesn't retract completely into the full in the upper-most position)?

@@tadejpukl2254 When you sail this speed it is no sooo delicate you think (I think): For us the feeling at more than 15 knots boatspeed was very stable and no big problem. The Seascape 18 (as well as all the other Seascapes too) is of a very good nature also at higher speeds. But yes, when you go too high at the wind (or too low) then you capsize. The problem at our lake (Neusiedler See) are 1. the gusts (we have always very strong gusts) and 2. very quick changes in the wind direction (up to 30 degrees), especially at higher wind speeds. During this ride I often looked at the WIndex. One time I saw: I am too low, too low, I have to go higher. The next time: Shit, I am at half wind, I have to go lower. So: You have to follow your feeling and accept at this wind speeds, that you will capsize. At this 10 nautical miles we capsized 4 times. And the next video will be the 'Hoppala - Video' ... with all the mistakes and capsizes. And yes, you are right, the short keel is approx. 30 cm wide (approx. double of the normal one), so just the half of it goes into the keel box and the other half is always out of the box. Maybe this gives more direction-stability at higher speeds when you lift the keel totally up. You'd love to experience in person: No problem! Watch www.windy.com 'Neusiedler See' and when you see a day with base wind around 20 knots and gusts over 30 knots (not so rare) then come to Mörbisch and we go!

@@Seascape-18-AUT-007 , thank you for the interesting insights! I look forward to the Hoppala video:)! Our 18 has a long keel, so it would be dragging over the floor at Neusiedlersee (ok, not when going downwind). Still, I hope to see your stunts in person one day. Do you ever come sailing to the Adriatic?
