XaeroR35 yea chances are most of the crowd didn't even know who they were. They're waiting for some generic pop star to take the stage. At the end of the day tho it was a benefit show. Not only did they not have to do it but they played their asses off and represented punk rock at the show. Not guna lie tho you could see a bunch of kids getting into it by the time they played east bay. Matt sucked them in with that bass intro even if they were just head bobbing. Idk i thought that was pretty cool

I know this is a benefit but damn, I've seen Rancid a few times and nearly got severely injured/died each gig...
I could have sat comfortably in a hammock in the front row with this crowd lol.
Great to watch but as per usual the camera people seem to have forgotten how to point a camera at a bass player apart from when it's in passing.

Damn their skills have not declined at all. 2017 ya maybe a lil less energy but better musicians now (Tim and Lars, Freeman was always god) and voices holding up fine... or maybe just sober and taking it seriously since its near the end who knows. Anyways my favorite band all time, saw them 3 years ago and Tim actually opened for Rancid with Tim Timebomb and Friends he played a for over 3 hrs that night, was amazing.
"Now they're just sober and taking it seriously" ? I'd just like to inform you that Rancid have pretty much been sober for well over 20 years (except for alcohol, i know Lars likes a couple beers). I know in the "Spirit of '87" video, Tim is drinking airplane shot bottles when they went to Tokyo. But while on tour there is some drinking to be had, but it ends there. I've probably watched all of these Rancid videos up here on TH-cam and can't once recall thinking, "man, so and so looks real drunk/wasted here." So that alone tells me something. Any struggles with any major addictions were overcame when they were younger which allowed them to take playing music very seriously which is why they are where they are today. It wasn't publicized much at all and still can't find anything about it to this day, but I have a hunch switching out drummers from Brett to Brandon in '05-ish? had to do with an addiction issue with Brett and they weren't having it. You notice how they've all been together for over 25 years? No band break-ups/dramas/reunions? All those bands that do that have had well known addiction/drug issues with some or all members. Rancid has never had that.Yes, they have lyrics that talk about heroin, coke, drinking. But that was overcome before they even made it big. Matt helped Tim get straight in 92ish and Epitaph pretty much said that whenever Tim is right and rehabbed, we'd love to sign you guys. And that's what they did. Got their shit together and made sure it stayed together and look what they've become. Kudos to that! Rancid, my favorite band by far since 95. And I've struggled with addiction all my life, btw.

You know nothing about Tim or Rancid if you think he's a drunk mess. And besides some on tour social drinking, they've all been clean from any major addictions for well over 2 decades. I've watched thousands of these TH-cam rancid performances and not once can I say any one of them were a "drunk mess". It's odd what peoples assumptions make them see.
