Actually they did that all the time. Maybe you’ll come across the episode where Deidre knew this woman was regretting putting her baby up for adoption, but let her take Tracey to the part and took a long time to return. The next time she asked, Deidre was Leary and said she needed to make a stop. The woman was just a few steps ahead of her and Deidre left the push chair in front of the Rovers. She went inside and next thing you know a lorry driver had a heart attack and crashed into the front of the Rovers. All the rescue crew could find was a doll under the debris.
I remember cringing every time Wendy Crowzier came on scene the first time this story line aired and she hasn’t grown on me since 🤣. She treats Ken like a child then snogs the face off him. 🤢
Wendy Crozier appeared recently, she was introduced a as a foster home carer of sorts for Sally and her baby to get reintroduced,, as you might know and Ken tried to two time her...she eventually dumped Ken and that was it.

Amazing scenes in there - January 1990, and the new houses and the new Kabin are very nearly finished. I read in a Corrie book that they were built in 1990. Flamin' quick building, that's all I can say! :) And those scenes must have been filmed in 1989!
I believe the new sets were mostly complete in Feb 1990, so you won't start to see the fruits until around April, with more sets shown per episode as they didn't have to be broken down.
I felt so sorry for Bet at that awful so-called upper-class party. Alec's long-lost daughter was dirt poor Maggie Selby, I think, in How We Used To Live.
The McDonald boys broke into a private closed in site, how is the responsibility down to owner Maurice Jones? Is this where the scriptwriters started losing touch with Reality? Apart from this, it is Excellent :)
It's fascinating watching this as an adult. I used to watch it sometimes with my parents in the 80s. Steve and Andy are so young here! I feel sorry for Liz having a domestic abuser for a husband. Ken is totally odious, acting like a victim when he's having an affair but it's frustrating seeing Deirdre mope around rather than just move on from him. I never liked the adult Tracy character and thought she was almost sociopathic, but seeing how dysfunctional her parents behaved it makes more sense.
My son has done 33 years in the Canadian Army and my daughter in the Air Force inspired by their Grand father who was a WWII veteran. I forgot that Steve's dad was a Military man.
Good to see Eddie's friend has done well for himself XD also, is Sally slow? Who leaves a baby outside a dang supermarket, people don't even like doing that with a dog.
Back in’t day (well, in the UK anyway) it was indeed done, mad as it sounds now. My Gran actually came home from our local shops (early 1950s) to my Grandad roaring ‘where’s the bairn?’ She’d left my mum (their fourth child), in her pram, outside the post office and, laden with shopping bags, completely forgotten about her 😂 I still live in said wee village and pushchairs were still being left outside the tiny shops, simply due to space constraints, when my boys were wee in the early 2000s. I never did it, and have never done it with a dog, I hate that too 😊
The writing was good in this period and producers took more care than they had previously (early to mid 80s) with character development and continuity. The emergence of the McDonalds does herald the beginning of the end, unfortunately. I feel their addition was a mistake. All the sultry, 'sexy' Liz McDonald boring nonsense, with her hanging around wine bars all day in black stockings talking to her latest criminal beau. No thanks! I will stick around though for Ivy's full transmogrification into satanic witch, because there's a lot of entertainment to be had there! Even though, really, I deeply lament the loss of the feisty but sensible and caring Ivy of the 70s.
Back then they was no such thing as a "buggy" - a pram was a massive Silver Cross that was too big to fit into the average shop. And back then, a mum could pop into a shop for a few minutes for a few groceries and leave the pram outside knowing nothing bad was going to happen.
@@professionalgun6674 TBH my point at which I started to get fed up was when they introduced Curly in ‘83, then Kevin and later Terry. Those three in the Snug?!! Do me a favour! All three couldn’t act their way out of a paper bag. And were about as funny as a burning orphanage! 😂
@@EveHenleySpread Totally agree, they all barged in more or less at the same time. Curly first appeared as a more confident character alongside Eddie and Chalky and was nicknamed "professor" by Eddie. I had no problem with him until he became an embarrassing nerd. Terry was also a good character in the beginning but they did the same thing and changed him too. Kevin on the other hand shouldn't even be on the street period and as for Sally, I liked her at first but then she had this weird turn acting like a slapper with Terry which made her dislikeable. They came at a point where they could still be drowned out by the great characters still around. It was when they started to disappear that C,T and K became exposed along with character change and the creative enerture the writers put them in. Going to watch Feb 90 later. Two probably _very_ daft questions, and yes, I _am_ short-sighted, but Beverly Callard _must_ have had a nose job at some point, mustn’t she? Yes Beverly Callard does have a nose job at some point (plenty of cast members have had plastic surgery over the years.. look at Lynne Perrie 😳).. and yes it’s a different actress when Vicky comes to live at the Rovers compared with the original girl who played her.
Yes, Beverly Callard's appearance (except her teeth) has definitely changed since her stint as R. Brian's mate's missus. And Vicky definitely changes actress.
Hmmm…so I’m watching this all for the first time, and I’m trying not to give myself too many spoilers, but I appreciate non-spoilery opinions about characters. Helps me solidify my own. Honestly, I’m wondering if Steve and Andy were the inspiration for the BBC bringing in Phil and Grant for their show, but I haven’t met them yet, either…
@@davidroonmeister Yeah the reason why we can’t go further back than 1976 is that was the point Granada Plus chose to start (well more specifically they picked Elsie Tanner’s return in April ‘76) showing their repeats in the 90s.. thereby putting it all into the public domain ever since. There’s obvs the odd episode here and there from the earlier years knocking about but no substantial amount to do a proper monthly compilations like these sadly! Otherwise we’d be on it! In fairness 1976 was the year Bill Podmore took over and transformed the show, giving it arguably its golden era (76-84). It would still be nice to watch the earlier episodes though I agree!
@@EveHenleySpread ahh i didnt know this was the reason they started in 1976! that makes sense! ive got the DVDs covering the 1960s and 1970s but there arent enough on the dvds haha. id hope maybe classic corrie on itv3 would go back to the first colour episodes since its almost into the year 2000 now but it seems quite a few people like the fact its moving into the modern era....yuck! thanks agian for all this!!

Yes, Beverly Callard's appearance (except her teeth) has definitely changed since her stint as R. Brian's mate's missus. And Vicky definitely changes actress.
Liz just fit in like a new pair of shoes
For me the combination of the ghastly McDonalds and the dire sickie Vicky meant the end of Corries golden age
💯 I’ve always said this, as soon as the likes of Curly, Kevin and Terry are seen sat in the snug swigging their ale you knew it was over!
Agreed
Hmmm…so I’m watching this all for the first time, and I’m trying not to give myself too many spoilers, but I appreciate non-spoilery opinions about characters. Helps me solidify my own. Honestly, I’m wondering if Steve and Andy were the inspiration for the BBC bringing in Phil and Grant for their show, but I haven’t met them yet, either…
Nope they’re nothing like the Mitchell brothers I promise you! 😉
Nah that's just comedy and life. It's the best drama by Christopher. . These old times are great. And thank you Eve
Hi. Do you have December 1989? Loving these uploads ❤️
That’s the one TH-cam keeps blocking, trying to find a way around it
Why dont the english wash and rinse the pots. I guess i once did thst when i was a kid lol
I know it’s amazing but they never rinse
Is fog like that typical in Winter up t’north ?
Always wondered why Alma had her sleeves shoved back over her elbows; just noticed now that applied even to her dressing gown.
It IS a huge supermarket, plus there are seats on the trolleys (?)
We have seats on our trolleys in New-Zealand for our toddlers
Yes, here too, in Malaysia, you can put the kiddy on the seat in the trolley
The old days when you served food with your hands and not tongs or gloves! 😆

These are brilliant! Do you have anything before 1976 in these type of collections??
It’s on professional gun
@@charlierose2038 aye his brilliant collection starts from 1976 thats why i asked if anyone has anything before 1976 :)
Auntie Corrie 2 starts in the 60's
Urgh Sally's voice at 04:02:20 😫
Thank you Eve yet again brilliant of you to think of others.
I have just clicked Alec has seen the snootie girl on the horse. That must be young Vicky Arden his grand daughter. We know how this will play out over the years.
Perhaps Steve Macdonald's first wife. Noice
Thanks Eve.
I love every episode. You are such a doll to this for the world to see. I am so appreciative.
So many bad script-writing decisions were made in the run up to 1990 and giving Alec Gilroy an upper-class, long-lost daughter was just one more bad decision. I'm so glad I've binge-watched 20 years of this fabulous show this year. Thank you for the uploads. xxx
I rem when Deidre disliked Emily and didnt want here anywhere near her or Tracey
