There is no right way to learn Hebrew, it's a reconstruction of Masoretic Hebrew, from a 1000 years ago... It's like saying that Shakespearean English is the correct English.
There are newer, and also much older versions of Hebrew that sound very different.

      Benito,
Agreed. That's why the King James is such a winner for the Xians: it does a fair job of carrying over the majesty of the original Hebrew.
Your Bible giggle: I really, honest, have read people posting the the King James Version is necessary because it is written in the English that Jesus actually spoke, not this degraded modern stuff...

A professor from Cambridge discovered that whenever Vav conjunctive appears as Shuruk before bi-labial consonants like in the word u-bhein 'and between' it's actually pronounced wu-bhein. This Vav+Shuruk combo also occurs in Jeremiah 3:17 on the word va-niqwu but the Vav is written twice due to historical spelling.

Hebrew is the main language Hashem Elohim has spoken to us since creation. The hebrew language is tridimensional and is so much richer in content and meaning that any other language falls short to translate to the fullness of its meaning.

    • @Abilliph

3 signifies the letter 'ayin in Hebrew, it's like a vowel sound from the throat.
Kh signifies the German-like ch sound.
7 signifies the letter Heth in Hebrew, it's like the German ch, but deeper in the throat.. like a hard H sound.
Since these letters don't exist in English, this is one of the ways to write them.

    Dear Sir,
thanks for your great lessons. It really makes a difference in learning hebrew.
However there is something about the nikkudot which doesnt make any sense to me.
It is said that the pronounciation of the sheva is e or no sound.
Could you teach us how to easily tell the difference?
Could you teach us how to learn to read the sheva?
And last but not least, the yud could also be pronounced as y or i.
Could you teach us how to clarify the pronounciation of yud?
Thank you so much for your support
    Best Regards

    • @d35trvct08

In 99% of cases the Shva is read as /e/ when it begins a syllable. This occurs when it's at the beginning of a word or when it's the second of two consecutive Shvas. Likewise is the case with silent Shva. Some grammar books will teach that Shva is /e/ when preceded by a long vowel. 99% of the time it's not true. Exceptions to these rules are very complex. The Jews who created the vowel system invented a symbol called a Metheg to help aid the reader in distinguishing between these exceptions, narrowing down ambiguity but still not eliminating it. Even proficient scholars in Hebrew sometimes differed in their reading of Shva. The general rule is, unless it alters word meaning, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you're consistent in your own rules of reading.
As for Yud, that's easy. If the Yud has a vowel symbol on it, then it's /y/, if it doesn't then it's /i/.

      I mean, Genesis 1 isn't a history, it's poetry. There wasn't exactly a person watching this happen.
The Bible opens with poetry, a tribute to Elohim and to his creation.

The correct interpretation of Gen 1:1 is - In the beginning, the Gods created the Word, the Heavens, and the word the Earth. Elohim is a plural word for Gods. Hashamayin is a plural word for Heavens. The first thing the Gods created was the Word. John 1:1 is correct, in the beginning, was the Word. The Torah let Us create man. Scripture does not contradict itself when it is interpreted correctly. Rabbi D.

  • @Flomsauce
    @Flomsauce 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So the text used to read God singular. Now elohim can imply gods. And heavens was always plural and now it is singular. Pray, fellow brothers and sisters to Yehoshua, Yehweh manifested in the flesh, who died for our sins and rose in three days and repent. These are the last days.

    • @TheDavidlloydjones
      @TheDavidlloydjones 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris,
Jesus didn't die for anybody's sins. He lived teaching people that this stupid "sin" thing is a vicious doctrine by which authoritarians rule over fools.
"You are all sinners, but we can save you," these people Trumpet. "Just follow our magic formula and you'll be OK."
"Pay here" and "Join up over there" are what follow. Also "Vote for our candidate" and "Follow our Leader's rules."
"Jesus died for our sins" is the exact opposite of what Jesus of Nazareth tried to teach. "We are not ruled by sin, and don't need to be saved from that nonsense" is the good news.
Obviously, things will go better if you behave decently, etc. etc. -- but that's so clear and easy to understand that it doesn't really need a church to teach it, does it?
      -dlj.

Are you saying it should be translated to reflect a specific Christian doctrine--that Elohim should be translated as "gods" for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? And "hashamiym" as "heavens" for the seven heavens or "in my Father's house there are many mansions"?

    • @benkaesemeyer6887
      @benkaesemeyer6887 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I am uncertain what you are trying to say...My mother is 65 years old and said, English translation has opened Genesis with 'Let US create...' (Genesis 1:26) all of her life. It is not incorrect to have Elohim here to reflect 'us'. The Rabbis have many explanations for this, one of which is: Hebrew grammar allows for this nominally plural form to mean "He is the Power (singular) over powers (plural)", or roughly, "God of gods".[citation needed] Rabbinic scholar Maimonides wrote that the various other usages are commonly understood to be homonyms.[1] Peace and blessings. Ben

    Chapter7
    54. Your Lord is Allah; He who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne. The night overtakes the day, as it pursues it persistently; and the sun, and the moon, and the stars are subservient by His command. His is the creation, and His is the command. Blessed is Allah, Lord of all beings.
    55. Call upon your Lord humbly and privately. He does not love the aggressors.
    .............................
    Chapter41
. Say, “Do you reject the One who created the earth in two days? And you attribute equals to Him? That is the Lord of the Universe.”
    10. He placed stabilizers over it; and blessed it; and planned its provisions in four days, equally to the seekers.
    11. Then He turned to the sky, and it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, “Come, willingly or unwillingly.” They said, “We come willingly.”
    12. So He completed them as seven universes in two days, and He assigned to each universe its laws. And We decorated the lower universe with lamps, and for protection. That is the design of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
    .............................
    Chapter21
    30. Do the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were one mass, and We tore them apart? And We made from water every living thing. Will they not believe?
    31. And We placed on earth stabilizers(Mountains) , lest it sways with them, and We placed therein signposts and passages, that they may be guided.
    32. And We made the sky a protected ceiling; yet they turn away from its wonders.
    33. It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; each floating in an orbit.
    34. We did not grant immortality to any human being before you. Should you die, are they then the immortal?
    35. Every soul will taste death. We burden you with adversity and prosperity-a test. And to Us you will be returned.
    ............................
    Chapter22
    47. And they ask you to hasten the punishment. But Allah never breaks His promise. A (day) with your Lord is like a (thousand years) of your count.
    .............................
    Chapter36
    37. Another sign for them is the night: We strip the day out of it-and they are in darkness.
    38. And the sun runs towards its destination. Such is the design of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
    39. And the moon: We have disposed it in phases, until it returns like the old twig.
    40. The sun is not to overtake the moon, nor is the night to outpace the day. Each floats in an orbit.
    .............................
    Chapter 39
    5. He created the heavens and the earth with reason. He wraps the night around the day, and He wraps the day around the night. And He regulates the sun and the moon, each running along a specific course. He is indeed the Almighty, the Forgiver.
    6. He created you from one person, then made from it its mate, and brought down livestock for you-eight kinds in pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, in successive formations, in a triple darkness. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the kingdom. There is no god but He. So what made you deviate?
    .............................
    Chapter 27
    88. And you see the mountains, and imagine them fixed, yet they pass, as the passing of the clouds-the making of Allah, who has perfected everything. He is fully Informed of what you do.
    ............................
    Chapter2
    256. There shall be no compulsion in religion; the right way has become distinct from the wrong way. Whoever renounces evil and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handle; which does not break. Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
