    That is not order cancellation. That is order conversion

      But a cancellation gets more clicks.

    Even as a hardcore Boeing fan, it is a order CONVERSION.

    Airbus will hardly get depressed over this Air Algérie decision. Now offering 2 slots on the A350-1000 production line for quicker delivery, whilst adding three more A330neos orders to a faster production line, is very convenient. And as for RR, they've now got orders for six Trents, not four, and I presume a TotalCare contract for maintenence too............

    While Air Algérie already operates 8 a330-200's the 8 a330-900's will sound perfect

      Agreed. And reports I've had from people who have been on an A330neo say that it's a very nice ride too. Air Algerie are definitely going for a good upgrade.
      And, this order conversion kinda underlines the strength of Airbus's product line up. In ordering A350s, Air Algerie haven't (as we all know) had to give a moment's thought to pilot or crew training (well, hardly any) thanks to the common cockpit design (and no doubt everything else in the cabin too). Ok, Air Algerie have clearly had second thoughts on the cost or the capacity of the plane, but the alternative gives them an equally seamless transition to operating the new aircraft.
      The trick for Airbus is that they have made it comfortable and safe for airlines to place orders with them. If the airline does change its mind early enough - no big deal, some modest paperwork, no one has to suddenly massively re-train, for a different aircraft type, everyone's happy, Airbus still get a profit and the airline gets what they truly need. But the really, really big point is that Airbus got the initial order in the first place, Boeing didn't, and Airbus have kept the customer despite their change of heart and despite the availability of the 787. Neat.

    The A330 NEO is NOT a failure. Just a smart move from Airbus 10 years ago...

    Didn't even know the default A321 could do London to Abu Dabi in one go.
    I thought Etihad it would need an least an LR, if not XLR.

      the a321neo's maximum range is somewhere between 7000km and 7400km. even the a321ceo can do this route if it had payload limits as its range is only 5900km

    • @Psi-Storm
      @Psi-Storm 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Shouldn't be a problem. I looked up the range, it can even do Berlin - New Delhi. Quantas has cool radial maps on it's a321 page. Comparing the xlr with the 737. You can go from Brisbane to Tokio in the xlr, while the 737 can just fly to Bali or New Zealand from there.

    Very interesting about the Etihad business! A321 might be a shout for the route, i guess they are seeing that UAE is not a popular tourist and holiday destination, but more as a lay over point for further flights to Asia, I might have a think next time, as I have gone through DXB and DOH but with more routes from Heathrow and there increased fleet its totally a possibility! Thanks for the daily news.

    commented the other day but only 2 a350s would of been real expensive in maintenance and training. its better they go with 8 of the same unit and get an extra plane. this will double their wide body fleet to 16 planes.

    • @abarratt8869
      @abarratt8869 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hmmm, I'm not so sure that it would have been that much more expensive.
      Maintenance - well, if you don't want to do your own you get someone else to do it who is already servicing A350s every day of the week.
      Training? Airbus have been excellent at minimising the differences for crew (pilots and cabin) between aircraft types. In fact, from a pilot's point of view, A330 and A350 are counted as a single type, no training needed at all. There's more than just pilots to train for sure, but pilot training is very pricey.
      Having just two might indeed be more expensive in maintenance and training. However, it can't have been such a big deal otherwise I doubt Air Algerie would have ever entertained ordering 2 A350s in the first place.

      @@abarratt8869 from my research, air Algerie does their own maintenance with their own teams and also does the maintenance on ASL France’s 737-800s. If they could of wanted to, I don’t see why maintenance couldn’t have been outsourced to Air France, Lufthansa, or Ethiopian’s teams. Realistically though, they never legitimately had the need for 400+ seater airframe from the looks of it, their airport would need upgrading to fill in the void. Besides, the -900 is a larger airframe than their current 8-200s. It’s better that they get a third Airframe for the price of 2 while continuing do to all their maintenance and training in-house. This will open the door to new routes and higher capacity on existing routes and like I said, double their wide body fleet. We might see an order for the A350-1000 in the future, once they manage to open up their country to tourism and travel.

    Interesting move by Etihad to start using A321. Wonder if this is to complete with Wizz so pricing on this particular flight will lower
