    5:25 That's called a dotted eight rhythm. In a triplet rhythm all notes are equally long, but in a dotted eight rhythm you have two notes with a 3/16 lenght and one with a 1/8 length :)

    5:26 "what's called a triplet rythm" actually it's three quadruplet based notes with the last one shorted by one sixteenth to fit the two beats. This rythm is straight not swing like triplets which are three evenly spaced notes over 2 beat.

      @@ethannash8871 honestly I've been working with a lot of producers, and they usually call a triplet rhythm a 3/4 measure. Only "S3rl - 3 to the floor" does that correctly

      To be fair, this is what most (amateur) musicians play, when they're told to play triplets. And it drives me crazy every single time. ;)

    OMG that track at the end! Thats just the uplifting style I love and wanna learn! You make me want to try hard. The thing is I have no idea about notes and stuff.
    But since I found your channel I'm putting out that Akai mini which I bough a few years ago and never had a go at it. Now waiting for my MacBook and I'm starting trying hard to learn how to make EDM in Logic. I mean its corona time and I have some spare time since I'm a freelancer.       @@Tarro57 Because when beginners first try to play real crotchet (1/4 note) triplets, the dotted quaver (1/8 note) rhythm is what they end up with at first.

    Try messing around with scotch snaps, it's a widely used technique that most listeners don't realise they've internalised from a ton of music they listen to already!

    Thanks for the layering tips, but I think there is a quicker way to make the edits from long notes to short plucks. Select the chord you want to split up and move the playhead to the place where you want to cut and use command + t. Even faster: switch to the scissor tool!

      I’ve been in band for 8 years now, a freshman in college, and marched a season of drum corps. I’m blown away at how many people think that dotted 8th dotted 8th 8th is a quarter note triplet. I guess it’s a very common misinterpretation.
