    I worked at the Roanoke steel plant the last 3 years after steel dynamics bought it ! Loved the job, diagnosed with m/s running a overhead meltshop crane carrying 80 tons of melting steel, I was not putting the guys on the ground lives in danger for my problem ! Miss those guys, loved that job, but all good things come to a end they say !!

    I work in the electricity industry in the UK and one of my Substations supplies an EAF, and boy do they take some current when operating! Makes the volts on the 33kV side jump around like crazy.

      It's awesome...we use 33kV primary too...450V secondary...currents playing around 250-350Amps. LMF facility current downsized to around 100-150Amps. It's just an amazing process I have experienced for more than 15 years.

    2nd largest processer of scrap, man thats two indiana companies that made it big, I belive omnisource started out in fort wayne or indy, and sdi that is dekalb county indiana born and is like number 2 steel producer in the nation and they are less then 20 years old that is an accomplishment, though with some techniques Mr Busse learned while at nucore with the mini mill concept, it is not a small feat to get that big in such a short time in an industry like steel that was dominated by heavyweights many of who are no longer around or as big as the heyday.

Es wird egendwann keine Kohle? Das beduted mit Kohle musst mann sparen. Blitz hat doch cca 250.000 Elektronenvolt und 30.000 °.

    Carbon neutral by 2050. I guess Iron Dynamics can kiss it's rear end goodbye. Best thing really. Gas based direct reduced iron processes like Midrex are the superior technology.

    • @lowercherty
      @lowercherty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Midrex is not carbon neutral by any stretch of the imagination. It uses copious quantities of natural gas. The mini mills that melt scrap are far closer.

    • @felixyusupov7299
      @felixyusupov7299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lowercherty Yes Midrex with a natural gas reformer does use a lot of natural gas but Midrex fed with hydrogen from electrolytic production is carbon neutral. There is no making Iron Dynamics carbon neutral. I work with the man who designed and commissioned Iron Dynamics and even he said iIron Dynamics is a doomed process. Even the mighty Steel Dynamics invests in bad technology from time to time.

    The promotioal and advertising guru's make you feel pathetic if you dont have the latest car , washing machine , fridge or any other comsumer goods that are made predominantly from steel .
    The environmentalists frown upon any one that drives an older car .
    The off set of 1 mpg extra doesnt equate to the pollution produced melting down a older vehical and then produce a whole new set of emmisions to made a similar vehical .
    I read some rants on pollution and carbon foot prints on a blokes fb page named
    Gregory O'Meley
    Interest points on subjects that Greta sourthumb hasnt touched on
