I feel you missed the meaning behind the song. I was hoping the last verse would reveal it. It’s talking about humanity’s general disregard for the planet and how we just destroy things and move on.
The last verse points to how we are hoping science will solve our problems instead of having to make any changes, only to make the same mistakes elsewhere:
“The air’s on fire so we’re moving on, gotta find another one ‘cause this one’s done”
“Waiting for the magic of the scientist’s glove…”
“Find another planet make the same mistakes”
Glad you did this song though. They have a lot of great music!

The song is partially a satire about how we as humans tend to destroy everything without much thought. Most of the time it's not malice, just entertainment. A few songs off this record reflect the same sort of mentality, but it can be pretty underhanded by the more pop sound they're stuck on.

This album came out at the end of my freshman year of college and omg 4:58 you get it so right! I’m surprised you liked this song as much as you did! I love their songs Little Motel & Spitting Venom! Their 20th anniversary release is incredible.

I really enjoyed your impressions of the band being a destructive force. But in terms of the deeper meaning of this song; MrLBoyd, you too are in this band.

I heard offense theory about the song that it's aliens going from plant to sucking it dry and moving on to the next one. Or it's a metaphor angsty teenage years.

I saw them at the Louisville Palace a few years back, they have such a great catalog of music, pick any song and it’s an experience 🤘🏼 Charles Bukowski, King Rat (the music video was directed by Heath Ledger, left unfinished by his passing but was completed posthumously, an animated masterpiece), Ocean Breathes Salty, and Dashboard!

Like that you didn't just do Float On like everyone else
It was their hit and a damn fine track but on its own doesn't give a good idea of how serious and complex MM music is.
Lampshades is a bit deceptive too - maybe do Coyotes and Be Brave to get an idea where they were going with this album

EXACTLY....the only question is 3RD PLANET 💁🏻‍♀️ WHEN THO?!
it's imperative that 3rd planet be experienced! only a disservice to oneself if not...😔 just sayin.

This is a good upbeat song to start with, but something older like "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine"

Before even listening, GODDAMN, they could've requested any song before 2k, and i mean ANY song that would've been better.
I've been a fan since pre-2k. How about listening to Beach Side Property or Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine?
    Fuck, man.

Not a fan...the music and lyrics unsettled my spirit

    • @deegee7133

Honestly, I'm sure it is meant to be equal parts thrilling and unsettling. It's from an album themed around human destructiveness in various forms and ending with human extinction. If I could suggest anything it would be to be open to being unsettled.

Isaac Brock admits fully that they sold out, but I think everything 2004-prior is pretty great. Some of the stuff off this record is decent too.

🤯 are you affected in the head, bruh?! i nean ... obviously you're either tone deaf and / or simply have bad taste in music, but like....is it genetic? is there MORE that's contributing to your deficit 💁🏻‍♀️ that's all I'm trying to figure out.
