i love seeing him delve into conversations on serious topics like this. i feel like most people don't realize how incredibly emotionally and socially intelligent he really is.
I'm straight and I can understand that people can be bi. I can think of an example that isn't exactly one to one but kinda puts it perspective. There's people that love vanilla ice cream and hate chocolate ice cream. There's people that feel the exact opposite of that. There's people out there that love both to some degree.
that's a great way to put it, also a funny coincidence me being bi, often when im faced with 2 or more choices for example food I will just pick both, cuz I like both! that phrase applies to a lot of things in my life! 😋
The way I explain it to straight people is like having multiple types. Like liking blondes and brunettes, or curvy girls and muscular girls. It's just a bit more diverse. For a lot of bi people, men and women are a lot more similar than they are different.
As a Bisexual myself I can just say... this is so true! all of it really! I have known about my sexuality since I was 14 and now I am 25+, I have never questioned myself, but for me, I would rather date a woman than a man, even if it would be more difficult... I also always wear a cap and big clothes which people are quick to assume I am Bisexual for that reason alone. It is really interesting how our brains are wired 🤔❣Happy Pride Month!
9:20 That's just a testament to how sapphic relationships are not taken seriously by most people. For men, their girlfriends being into women probably doesn't feel like a "competition." They don't see it as a valid attraction, but they certainly worry that their girlfriends are also into men because that attraction is deemed "real."Thank you, heteronormativity ✨️👎
I really appreciate this episode. I grew up in an EXTREMELY religious household. Born as a female, my male family members would joke about me being an "alien" because I looked different. At first, I would look at female bodies and try to understand what I am supposed to look like. But quickly I realized that I was attracted to women. I loved their bodies and had several crushes on girls before puberty. But I pretended to like boys because that was what was "normal" and I was afraid of retaliation from friends and family if I was honest. When I hit puberty then I actually became attracted to men as well. I was conflicted for many many years on how this was possible. Thanks to the internet, I was able to realize that I was bisexual. Fast forward after a lot of religious trauma, excommunication, medication, therapy, etc, I came to terms with my sexuality. I love people for who they are and their sex doesn't matter to me. The struggle is real though for sure! I am sometimes fem presenting and other times more masc. It is so difficult to flirt with women because I have literally no idea how to tell if someone is queer without it being blatantly obvious. Like wearing PRIDE merch or flags lol
OMG for a few minutes I couldn’t remember where I recognized Tricia from. But I realized it’s Next Level Chef! If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend if you enjoy cooking shows at all. I loved you on there, girl! You’re very talented and sweet 😊💕
You can most definitely be bi and be more attracted to women than men, there may not be a strict number but it does happen. You could be attracted to only one man and still be bisexual
@@zachestinenaw slime is and not even close. He is the 2nd straighest tho. Ive seen ludwig kiss to many men for me to think hes 100% straight. Nick somehow the the most bi/queer to me.
And yeah, as a pan I usually say I am bi, because it is much easier to explain, it is a well known term often. When dating or in lgbt groups, I go with pan normally.
What is frustrating .... after 30 yrs of being bi/pan I still hear that bisexuals dont know what they want or is a phase. You would think by now that people would believe us. As for the Oat milk, I cant have any of the milk alternatives due to my allergies but I used to luv soy and almond milk.
27:14 I actually have encountered this. I identify as Bisexual, but Panromantic. I can fall in love with all genders and forms, but my body sexually reacts to fully male or female forms. I am still attracted to trans and intersex women and men, but admittedly if they have both forms together, or are mid transition, I just do not feel attraction physically to that. (I have had sexual attraction pre and post transition, still.)
I feel like the question at 23:35 was worded a bit wrong. The original question was more saying that bi people get the 'its just a phase' thing alot, because alot of people who are just experimenting say they're bi before they're even sure themselves if they are or not. The original comment was just saying that people saying they're bi while they're trying to figure out their sexuality is harmful to the bi community, because it makes people believe the stereotype of it just being 'a phase'.
YESSS THANK YOUU, Aiden is so right here, literally the whole reason I go by bisexual and not gynosexual is bc no one fucking knows what gynosexual is. It's got nothing to do with excluding trans or gender nonconforming individuals. Cuz... would For anyone wondering, gynosexual is having an attraction to femininity/stereotypically feminine traits.
I loved "playing along" and thinking about their and my opinion. I love bi representation, I always feel less valid than other sexualities because of liking all genders. So this is nice.
On probably the first episode of this series, I commented saying as a straight man watching this I found it hard to relate to the people I was watching. Well, that was stupid of me to say. Literally anyone from anywhere is relatable. It's very easy now for me to watch any episode of assumptions and relate to anyone on here because we're all just people. 😊
I agree with Aiden about the doubt. This doubt is so prevalent in (my) bisexual experience. But nonetheless, in a certain way, this doubt says less about my sexuality and more about the cultural/societal misunderstanding of bisexuality and multisexuality. The stereotypes of 'bi being a phase' and 'bi people cheating' are culminations of the unsurity monosexual people think they perceive in bi people. But in reality this doubt, or confusion maybe, in me is 100% about the discrepancy, mindfuck and paradox which is binary cisheteronormativity.
bi just means attracted to same sex and not same sex, which means it includes all genders. How I've heard pan people talk about their sexuality is that gender is just not a factor for them at all. OR it's just pick what flag colors you like more lol
4:14 damn, I felt that. Like I struggled in my younger years when I came out as a transman with being attracted to men, and I kept wishing I only liked girls. Now I'm happy being with either, but dude, being mlm is so frustrating since it's seen as less acceptable than wlw. Like when I was seen as a girl and Bi, it was fine. But A guy and Bi, nope that wasn't aloud!
There are a lot of bi women that drop their girlfriends for men though because it is easier. So it is understandable that lesbians do question bi women sometimes.
Damn the comment about percentages actually made me worry, but the answers were validating. I'm not sure if I like men or I'm just kinda lost. This entire idea of your orientation not being strictly defined is really scaring
I had a friend who was dating a gender neutral person and identified as bi, and when asked about why he wasn't pan, he said the colours were cooler for bi
Well, now I kinda want to see a demisexuality assumptions video, but are there any assumptions about demisexuals? Being bi is a bit funny because I feel like the longer I've been open about it the more I've realized it would be so much easier to just date other bi people, but I've no idea where other bi people hangout.
The assumptions I've seen about demi sexuality is mostly just the assumptions I've seen about asexuality, the most unique to demi I've seen is that it's "A label made up for no reason because that's just the average person". It seems to be either a case of 'This is normal for me, so I assume it's the norm' or they don't properly understand it.
9:56 I'm so glad this was brought up, it's such a specific brand of biphobia that nobody else but bi/pan people relate to. Lesbians and straight dudes alike often can't grasp tft I have the exact same capability to love & be attracted to their gender as much as any other. I always try to explain it like, you know how you're only attracted to women, and can't fathom being attracted to men it's just no question? For me I can't fathom being turned off from a person I'd otherwise be attracted to solely based on their gender. It has nothing else to do with anything, and it definitely does not imply that i somehow NEED both to be satisfied thats so wack. My sexuality doesn't affect my ability to be faithful 📢
and to the following point at 11:34 ish its like, there are people i'm attracted to and could see potential with, and there's friends that I will only ever see as friends, regardless of gender point blank
Maybe I'm just tripping but I can feel like you can really hear the difference that vocal coaching she mentioned on Smoshmouth has had, dope. Also on the topic of the pansexual/bisexual stuff is just semantics on word stems. Like they're the same thing, pan is like by definition the more inclusive term because pan literally means all and bi means two so *by technical definition* would be exclusive to nonbinary people, but words evolve, and bi is the standard.
I’m surprised Ludwig let Aiden out of the trunk of his purple Volkswagen Jetta for a non Yard production
I'm glad Aiden's presence is helping to spread Melee awareness to the bisexual community
