+nezkeys79 Yup, this is why Mithrie and Ashe10 seldom do gil guides, unless there's a massive wall to entry like desytheis. I remember just as Heavensward was released, a ton of gil guides emerged from aetherial reduction and procuring clusters. Look today, markets have crashed to shit on clusters. The way to make gil consistently is to level your crafters and so what everyone else won't, break the entry barriers, find crafts with good ROI, sell aggressively, and be aware of market demands, pricing, and a way to find how to get items. DIY as much as you can so long as it's worth your time to do so. Lastly, spend less than you make and always have a cushion so you can make more.
I'll rephrase you...the way to make gil is find out what sells for a good profit and tell nobody about it. as soon as you blab about it on a youtube video kiss your gil profit goodbye Unless it's an npc scheme and therefore will be unaffected by real players. However...blabbing about it on youtube could lead to the developers catching on and nerfing the npc
Hey man, I happened to be cruising the market like usual and someone mentioned your name to me. Couldn't help but stop by. This is a pretty decent farm you have going here. I'm on Lamia and always looking to make money as a new player. I'm no slouch when it comes to spreading my eggs out on a market and this tip DEFINITELY comes in handy. I was thinking I would need to start getting my crafts up to around the thirty range based on the MB but I completely missed toad leather and aldgoat leather in my perusing. Thanks for the help mate.
You can make more money farming shards as a level 1 gatherer. Once you get to level 30 nodes you can access the node that gives +1 shard per strike. Using the skills that adds +2 shards per hit you will be getting 4 shards a strike. This is important because it will allow you to get 1,000+ shards an hour. Last time I checked on my server shards were going anywhere from 120k - 220k per meaning you can be earning 100k - 200k per hour which is a MUCH higher return. Sure its boring as heck but its easier than this. Though really the best money is in sprit binding if you don't want to level crafting. You can make MILLIONS easily. Buy the gear from MD vendor next to the mender and if you can meld a worthless materia to it, pop a sprit binding draught, and you're ready to go.
+Christie Mowry I'm guessing they're referring to the nodes that give +1, they'll give you that much more per strike. Then the +2 is from the skill that gives you that much more per strike.
If the toad leather doesn't sell as high anymore on your servers, start making glamour prisms as leatherworker instead, sell for about 1k-3k depending on server. If you are unlucky with toadskin drops, you can make a retainer hunt for them. One thing to note though is that the price of glamour prisms is going down because of the glamour vanity, so check before making them and see how often they sell compared to leather.
Ya, the vids almost 2yrs old and this stuff sells for a lot on Siren. I just started playing and this looks promising!! :D Aldgoat Leather 1,500-1,850G Toad Leather 1,800-2,000G
Love the guide. Very helpful. Thumbs up, subscribe, everything. You're amazing! If you have any more recent ones, would definitely love to watch them but this one works amazingly.
This comment really made my day! Currently im not playing FFXIV but do feel myself feeling the pull for the most recent patch, im currently playing wow but if i do go back ill put up a new vid saying so and my plans for future videos :)
Nice guide and thanks. I've been playing only several weeks. It took me a day to get miner and leatherworker up to lvl 19, then two days hunting, mining and crafting aldgoat leather to take my gil from 100,000 to 240,000 ! With gil at that level, I now don't have to worry about it and have a nice buffer for anything I want. My only real grind is that even with a GLD/PLD at lvl 34, it still takes a few hits to take down the aldgoat. Would be nice to one-hit them. The other benefit to this is that I've discovered how nice gathering/crafting can be. I'm actually enjoying it, which I never thought would happen. I'm now taking up my DoH DoG levels up to at least 20 for all. Bonus is that higher levels means crafting leves earn good XP and guild seals.
Thanks so much for this guide :D I already moved on from aldgoat to toad leather since aldgoat is way too crazy competitive on my MB. Toad Leather sells for about 1k each (Jenova), and I've made so far about 600k from this guide. It works, but it also depends on the server you're on. Mine alumen is decently cheap for a full stack so I dont farm my alumen anymore. Depending on your server, I would take the time to try and get HQ Toad Leather because on mine it can sell from 1.5k to 2.5k. Also NEVER undercut from the average price that each leather sells for, dont compete for the lowest price because you'll lose a lot of gil you couldve earned if you waited. Listing near midnight or a late time of the day is a pretty good way to sell your leather as well from what I feel because there is less chance of people undercutting you and people who are still on at that time who needs it and is too lazy to farm it would be willing to buy it. This guide is top notch and a good way to make money early on!
Jin YooJin Thank you very much for your kind words! It really means a lot that its helped people make legitimate money without any bullshit just a legitimate strat, the prism guide that goes with this guys (annotation is in vid i think) is kinda like a lazy step up from this when you dont have as much time but still wanna make gil, this is also more valid then i thought it would be after expansion, as the spiritbonding is no longer viable for Tier 4 materia, thank you again!
A little late to the game here myself but wow I've been doing things wrong this whole time. Great video. Been making my gil from shards. Markets pretty good these days.
Thanks man, this video got me back into FF as I stopped playing because I was so poor! XD Now I know how to make easy gil I am beginning to enjoy the game again, thanks for all the good work
I mean. I SEE where you were going with this, However, since time=money to me it was far more efficient to buy items like Alumen and black Alumen along with the skins to make the leathers. Each server may differ with its economy so that's something for the players to consider. That being said, its ideal to get at least lv 30 leatherworking so you can Desynth(deconstruct) items for Demimateria. the rings/necklaces you make in leatherworking have a chance to deconstruct into Demi 1-3 which can sell from 8-63k depending on the ranking of the demi and server. Overall nice guide though.
Algoat skins were selling for 20gil yesterday. Leather wasn't much better (Faerie) The drop rate on leather is based on RNG, which can mean 20 in 5 kills, or 5 in 20 kills. Three different "farmers" in Algoat area the other day. ...and you're killing the mobs within two hits with your LEVEL 50 BARD AND NINJA. So if your class is under 20, it's gonna take a bit longer.
Tristan Toole yep, was more to speed things up, they are some tough goats but most can easily solo after 20. Because of the high requirement in crafting for leather, its always needed, if they were low on your server buy them up and relist them at your price, you will always 99% make back more :) With the expansion just round the corner too its likely some will try max crafts before also :)
Even if this is half as profitable for me as it is for you, it's a really good couple of tips. I have a Botanist retainer that I use to farm up all my crystals and I have Leatherworker at 40ish and Miner at 30ish along with the combat levels high enough to mow down goats and frogs as you've done (even BRD at 50 for the ranged DoT's). The only thing I'll be doing differently is going to Sylphlands (or whatever it's called) to get my toad leather as the toads there are higher in level. I'll also be using my Chocobo as well. The reason being is there are the Bosom Buddies weekly achievements that can help as well with Companion XP and some gil to boot. Thanks for putting this up, very nice.
Could also mention the huge abundance of shards you can get from completing every crafting quest 1-5-10-15 from all the crafting guilds. saves you grinding any shards for a while.
Nidhogg scales are 1.8 million on the Adamantoise server last time I sold one. A full party of 70s with 1 tank, 1 healer and 6 DPS can clear Nidhogg EX consistently in about 3-4 minutes. If you can roll on a scale you can sell it and make almost 2 mil gil in 1 day if you farm one scale and wait for it to sell on the MB. I got Nid's bird and scale in the same night, then put the scale on the MB and it sold the next day. Super easy if you feel up to farming an unsynced EX trial.
yea this is a good guide. the advice about not getting dismayed at low auction house prices is good, generally prices go down during the weekend and over school holidays cause more impatient people tend to play at these times, and constantly try to undercut each other, taking advantage of that is good, and can infact make you a LOT of ingame money in the short term, tho I'm not sure how squeenix views such practices, so I'd say do you research before trying to do this in bulk. overall tho, this is a good basics guide and makes me wonder if you could run dungeons solo for materials, if you could that might be something I do myself in the future to make gil, since I prefer dungeon grinding to overworld grinding.
When diremite was the easiest thing to sell, id go and buy anything below the price i was expecting to sell at, then id have a surplus to sell, and make some profit off of what i bought, as well as selling what i collected at the regular price intended.
This is how I made cash back more than a year ago. Nowadays it's kind of inefficient for anyone but newbies. If you do the math, it takes about 10 minutes or less to gather 100 of an item. So 100 shards + 100 alumen + 100 skins + the rate of 10 quicksynths per minute = quite literally 40 minutes work. For 37k. Easy and consistent, but not really fast.
flameshana9 yep its true this can be time consuming, i personally use my mining retainer to bring me 30 alumen every 40 mins when im playing to get that and buy the shards. I just wanted to cover all the bases of all the materials in the video as i felt saying "just buy this stuff from the board" wouldnt have felt right :) Its more passive and doesnt have the RNG effect Spirit bonding does and you can pick it up and put it down without any buy in costs that you have with SB when crafting or buying SB gear but i see your point :)
yoo I had a 30 day trial made it to lvl 55 in 25 days, I did the main quest to 30 is where they get a job change and I made 800k doing POTD trading potsherd for Materia V, and I'm new to Ff14. Best console RPG ever.
Was hoping their would be a comment here.... So here is one now, nice money making for people starting out. I currently play the auction house game find consistently needed items and buy them when they are really low and sell when they are at their peak :-)
I'm relatively confident with how the current classes need these materials that this will stay current but yes I plan on doing many guides for the expansion and hope to see you all there! I'll also be streaming early access tomorrow!
You said in your video that I could farm Earth Shards, from the location in North Shroud that you gave, at level 1. Yet I ventured around the entire Treespeak area of North Shroud twice (The exact places you showed on your map), and could not find a single ore node. You sure there's not some kind of level requirement to see them?
Kevin Schlueter Figured it out, had to be level 5 to see the nodes. This is a good thing for people to know before they run out to Treespeak at level 1 to farm Earth Shards.
+Saggy Berries luckily i play on japanese server and live in US so i can grind during the day for me and there shouldn't be anybody on farming the same thing haha
i play on japan server cuz im weeb >_> lol no for some reason my friend who got me in the game played on tonberry and i wanted to play with her so yolo. i did a bunch of farming for the aldgoat leather and already sold some, but not a lot, i feel like toad leather will be much better but im working on leveling LTW and MIN :P
I've been taking a short break from videos and ffxiv for personal issues but will be back up and doing more very soon! I'll need to do some market research but I'd love to do more guides. as far as I know people are still making some good money using this and my prism guide but will see what I can do! ty for the support :)
Syn Plays Games! sounds awesome! I was finally able to get heavensward this past weekend and got through 2.55 story. hoping (big word there) to get enough money for housing but will go for it after dinging 60. thanks for the guides, I subbed for future videos.
+Bullsnation 1 it can on servers where new players are being allowed. Been checking prices on my main server, balmung vs an alt's server exodus balmung the lowbie stuff is very cheap since no one is leveling...at all, havn't seen a new character since about last valentines day? ish? exodus is thriving with low markets though :D
Zack Marcus I imagine that you could make some money with that combination, maybe making silver ingots or steel ingots sure :) i dont know to much about BSM but i remember steel being a high cost material most crafts need while leveling, check the prices on your server :)
Zack Marcus usually the base relic host weapons are quite cheap to buy from the market board, id check to see the prices on your server, though im sure making steel would be able to get you the funds up to get your relic in no time :) On another note it may be worth looking at other weapons then the relic, with the expansion less then 20 days away starting the relic line now might not be as worth it, look at the soldiery weapons and 110 crafted :)
Jesse Jenks If you level your non-main classes at their respective 15-20 ranges there, you can even skip repair costs by simply out leveling the gear you're farming in. XD
As a public speaker, I recommend when you are speaking you'll want to avoid saying "uh" or "um". Just take some time to think about what you are about to say or rather pause and then continue what you want to say. Your speech will be a lot more effective that way. This is just an advice from what I learned when I took a public speech class in college few years ago.
ya know funny fact on all this get gill fast guides it says NO LVL 50 CRAFT NEEEDED im starting to really think craftings pretty freaking profitable lol
Devin Smith well with crafting you can make your own gear for a lot less than the selling price on market board and like the video said when you are able to get materials without buying them you can farm those and not spend a dime
Haha yes for some reason the mouse position capture is wrong and also drives me nuts ; ; sorry about that! And also the circles I constantly make with the mouse >.
this game is clearly balanced to encourage rmt. houses have astronomically high prices, and it's takes years of work or advanced autism to get to the point where you're making enough to afford one. But then, they're in limited supply, so if you can't make 50 mil in one day right off the bat, you're shit out of luck. The only way to buy one is to buy gil. what a dumb system
How to make a lot of gold.
Step 1: find a way to make gold
Step 2: don't tell anyone else. Ever.
MMOStein hah this works for some but can only be so competitive :)
+MMOStein couldn't agree more...same goes for XI. Once someone catches on it's ruined usually
+nezkeys79 Yup, this is why Mithrie and Ashe10 seldom do gil guides, unless there's a massive wall to entry like desytheis.

so i maaaaaaaaaaaaaaay be playing FFXIV again, would you guys be interested in more vids?
+Syn Plays Games! yep :3
+Syn Plays Games! 100% yes! More crafting and moneymaking guides!
ill see what i can do!
Yes please.
Yes please :D

Donald Cooke thankyou! im shocked someone mentioned me :O but im so glad its helped you and plan to do more guides soon! thanks again for the support!
saw your comment on a forum directing me to this and damn it works wonders. Only level 30 and I just made 87k in about 4 hours. Thank you so much

+Christie Mowry I'm guessing they're referring to the nodes that give +1, they'll give you that much more per strike. Then the +2 is from the skill that gives you that much more per strike.
Nice vid. I recently got back into ffxiv and I've been needing a way of making gil and so far your method is fairly good for where I'm at currently.
Diremite webs are also good. always in demand. Easy farm spot south of Ecahtl Nine
Thank you for the guide! I'm terrible at making (and saving, but that's a different story) gil, and this seems relatively simplistic. :)
Glad it helped! I'll be doing loads more guides and ffxiv stuff for expansion!
If the toad leather doesn't sell as high anymore on your servers, start making glamour prisms as leatherworker instead, sell for about 1k-3k depending on server. For a new player like me this is a godsend, thank you so much for posting this!!!
Ashlee Cole You are most welcome! please let me know how it works out for you and share with your friends! more FFXIV videos to come =3
Ya, the vids almost 2yrs old and this stuff sells for a lot on Siren. I just started playing and this looks promising!! :D Aldgoat Leather 1,500-1,850G Toad Leather 1,800-2,000G

Nick C So glad its working for you! It does get faster and easier as you gear and level, and later you can move onto toad skin =D good job man!
Thanks so much for this guide :D
I already moved on from aldgoat to toad leather since aldgoat is way too crazy competitive on my MB.

+Welsh SniperII thanks man this comment made my day. needed this :)
Can also make the horns into horn glue (~30 alchemist) which usually sells for a decent price too.
You are 100% right! Completely forgot about that they sell for a real high price on my server good point!
Leather wasn't much better (Faerie)
The drop rate on leather is based on RNG, which can mean 20 in 5 kills, or 5 in 20 kills.
"So, you will mount up"
"With what mount :( I don't own any"
Even if this is half as profitable for me as it is for you, it's a really good couple of tips.
Oddly enough, on my server the alumen was selling for more than the aldgoat leather. So I am just selling it.
Could also mention the huge abundance of shards you can get from completing every crafting quest 1-5-10-15 from all the crafting guilds. saves you grinding any shards for a while.
forgot about that, thanks!

Wow,this information is really good.thx for the easier way to get gold.
This is how I made cash back more than a year ago. Nowadays it's kind of inefficient for anyone but newbies. If you do the math, it takes about 10 minutes or less to gather 100 of an item. ty man, so far I have a miner retainer and hunter retainer to team this strategy (since I procrastinate :P) works well! ^^
This guide seems very helpful.. Thank you, now I know how to make more Gil :D
-Jaded-
yoo I had a 30 day trial made it to lvl 55 in 25 days, I did the main quest to 30 is where they get a job change and I made 800k doing POTD trading potsherd for Materia V, and I'm new to Ff14. Best console RPG ever.
So turns out the alumen market in Balmung has been ruined. Everyone's selling for 200 a piece now and barely having more than 20 at a time.
Thanks a lot! Nice guide!
I just started this method today after I looked in the market and saw the prices lol
Was hoping their would be a comment here.... So here is one now, nice money making for people starting out. I currently play the auction house game find consistently needed items and buy them when they are really low and sell when they are at their peak :-)
thanks man hoping to get back soon! thanks for your kind words bud!
Might have been worth looking at the price of skin/alumin separately....?
Just depends on which of the 3 sell for the most gil
Wow...nice!!! Def going to try!!!
i dont do this but it inspired me to start crafting at least
Thanks I didn't know how to get alumen!
Who thinks I should make new content???
yeah, your videos helped me a lot.
Yes plz~
Share with your friends and FC guys =3
Will you be doing another guide for the expansion ? Or you think this will still work after expansion is out ?
I'm relatively confident with how the current classes need these materials that this will stay current but yes I plan on doing many guides for the expansion and hope to see you all there! I'll also be streaming early access tomorrow!
How do you make your inventory on one page like that?
It all depends on the server your on for price. I can make 500k or 1 million Gil a day if I wanted to on my server.
wish I could do this, my server undercuts the price on most everything. its hard to make gil man
You said in your video that I could farm Earth Shards, from the location in North Shroud that you gave, at level 1.
Well I know what I'm gunna be doing this weekend
Excellent gill guide
+Michael D'Jamirze thanks very much!
thank you for the vid :)
Please let me know if you have anymore ideas for guides you'd like to see!
I'll have to try this, running low on gil. Thanks
+Saggy Berries luckily i play on japanese server and live in US so i can grind during the day for me and there shouldn't be anybody on farming the same thing haha
+Saggy Berries Why are you playing on a japanese server? xD I'm actually tempted to do it myself. That's because I'm a weeb of course
i play on japan server cuz im weeb >_>
lol no for some reason my friend who got me in the game played on tonberry and i wanted to play with her so yolo. i did a bunch of farming for the aldgoat leather and already sold some, but not a lot, i feel like toad leather will be much better but im working on leveling LTW and MIN :P
***** Mining for alumen works perfectly! I've made about 500k gil just because of that :3
Awesome video
Are you going to be doing a Heavensward version? :)
+abyssea that's awesome man gl with it, housing is much more affordable then it used to be take it easy don't burn out to make it :)
do this still work in heavenward
what lvl does your retair have to be in order to bring 30 alumen instead of 15?
xTheSpookTobi i think over 40 dont quote me though, it just changed for me. Gear the retainer works could also be a factor =3
after the video impossible to claim a goat because everyone was there pretty much? I dont play the game but I did play XI for 10 years
good stuff bro. Seriously
I have 12k Gil but I just started 2 days ago
Thanks! more incoming!
Does this still work?
Of course not the way he's doing it though
niceeeeeee! thank you share this vedio!!
+Syn Plays Games! this still valid? I'm new and on Balmung
I'm in Balmung as well and I'm going to assume it can apply there as well.
not sure if this is still valid?
Leatherworker is such a malevolent profession, so many animal massacre lol
I pretty sure it does not work no more??
+Bullsnation 1 it can on servers where new players are being allowed. Been checking prices on my main server, balmung vs an alt's server exodus balmung the lowbie stuff is very cheap since no one is leveling...at all, havn't seen a new character since about last valentines day? ish? exodus is thriving with low markets though :D
2:40 Hh shit, not the buff poodle sheeps!!
does this work with MIN X BSM?
Zack Marcus I imagine that you could make some money with that combination, maybe making silver ingots or steel ingots sure :) i dont know to much about BSM but i remember steel being a high cost material most crafts need while leveling, check the prices on your server :)
Im makeing steel ingots now, and will make silver when I lv up to it. Honestly im just lving to make pld relic wep
Syn Plays Games! at this point I'm doing it for pride. "see this Curtana i made it myself from the base up" kinda thing
Zack Marcus Oh i feel you man! GL i hope you get it made fast :)
Not a bad idea cause the only expense you will have is repairing the gear ^_^
Jesse Jenks Thats the plan! its a 0 start max output method for anyone ^^
Jesse Jenks If you level your non-main classes at their respective 15-20 ranges there, you can even skip repair costs by simply out leveling the gear you're farming in. XD
HunterX57 you are 100% right there hunter also can get materia from converting stuff after too :)
It's a shame the new classes start at 30 can't be useful for skipping repairs with this method. :p
HunterX57 legit! ha, but i guess you gotta pick your battles :) how are you finding the expansion?
till you run out of shards....
I need to lvl my ninja to 30 to 40
Wtf is happening with your curser lol
so glad im not the only one who noticed
As a public speaker, I recommend when you are speaking you'll want to avoid saying "uh" or "um". Just take some time to think about what you are about to say or rather pause and then continue what you want to say. Your speech will be a lot more effective that way. This is just an advice from what I learned when I took a public speech class in college few years ago.
dy/dx shut the fuck up
Wow over 8000 views and over 100 likes! That's insane guys rt so much!
23 whhhhaaaaaat???
ha ty! face for radio, voice for silent movies.
Crazy views on this now so grateful
sure
*smacks lips every ten seconds*
ya know funny fact on all this get gill fast guides it says NO LVL 50 CRAFT NEEEDED im starting to really think craftings pretty freaking profitable lol
Devin Smith well with crafting you can make your own gear for a lot less than the selling price on market board and like the video said when you are able to get materials without buying them you can farm those and not spend a dime
Wtf is wrong with your mouse!! The only thing i thought the whole time watching
Haha yes for some reason the mouse position capture is wrong and also drives me nuts ; ; sorry about that! And also the circles I constantly make with the mouse >.
Syn Plays Games! Dat calibration eh :) great vid anyway
this game is clearly balanced to encourage rmt. houses have astronomically high prices, and it's takes years of work or advanced autism to get to the point where you're making enough to afford one. But then, they're in limited supply, so if you can't make 50 mil in one day right off the bat, you're shit out of luck. The only way to buy one is to buy gil. what a dumb system
Wasted time watching this...
