I was just really getting into skating when Really Sorry came out. My mom who knew nothing about skateboarding bought me the Really sorry DVD for christmas one year and I was stoked. My friends and me watched that video a million times. We would grind out the winter in their tiny ass garage that had no heating and would do tricks off this box they built. We watched this video (amoung others) to get hyped enough to go skate in the brutal cold. I have a lot of great memories from that time. We always loved you Mr. Appleyard. Glad to see you are still killing it.
I did thr exact same thing, would watch sorry, almost round 3, and pj's Ladds a wonderful horrible life before we went skating, and would skate garages and basements during the winter when we were kids
We need to see what Jamie Thomas still has.

For the youngn’s who may not be too familiar with Apples.. TH-cam some of his older parts, especially the early Flip/Sorry stuff. One of the best styles of all time. Skates the way he talks.. if that makes sense.

Watching this makes me wish element would get more creative with their graphics again. They've pretty much always been my favorite decks but the art could use some revitalizing
But I actually do really like the nat geo series they're doing. Plus it's nice to support a good cause

I remember when you came to Houston for the zumies couch tour I missed the meet and greets and I just caught you going towards the back and he still signed my beat up Mimi logo deck him and David Gonzales.

Mark Appleyard was definitely one of my all time fav skaters along with Arto & Chris Cole. Circa was the shit back in the day. Mark's Sorry & Really Sorry Video Parts were always my go-tos for motivation prior to hitting the streets on my board for the day. I truly felt like if I would've continued with it, maybe I could've gotten sponsored or at least on the Flow for a company. Too damn bad I completely destroyed my left ankle boardsliding a handrail, warming up. After they had to surgically repair my ankle with screws and months of rehab, I was just too scared to go through that pain again. My Brain wouldn't allow me to keep the same fearlessness I had prior to my injury. Some people can come back from something like that as if nothing ever happened but unfortunately I couldnt. 16 years later I still enjoy watching the sport evolve and seeing how far the kids have taken it. Also, watching the guys of my day turn into OGs and legends themselves has been awesome. I really miss those days though. Don't take it for granted yall.

I will always remember skating a kicker to fridge, i was like 14 2002, backside nose grind on the baby blue Earth Wind Water Fire deck. Remember being so hyped cause the fridge felt so high at that age.
Appleyard seems like the chillest dude. His Nine Club episode is amazing.

One time Apples posted some old flip decks for sale on instagram and I shot a message, although with the shipping to Canada and the exchange rate was too much to grab one I wanted it so bad, he at least gave me a personal look at his board collection with some new elements and old flips, it was killer.
Man apples was and still is one of my favs. Fuckkkk yeah

When I was younger, this is how I imagined every pro skater collected shoes and boards but unfortunately a lot them have to sell their unused boards just to get by or simply can’t afford the storage

I always wanted his globes that were featured in transworld that were white. He drew all over them with sharpie for the ad and I wanted that exact shoe.

I miss those style of shoes regardless of how ridiculous it was skating in them compared to the light skate shoes now.
I’d love to see a Madars Arpse map of all the paces he’s been. Just through his Red Bull series alone he’s probably been to 20 different countries most US pro skaters have never thought to go

The great pyramids are always photographed as if they are deep in the desert and itsba trek to get there. Those pyramids are now a part of the city. More like a landmark and a historical treasure

Trujillo, Rowley, Thomas and I noticed now Apple's, has pro shoes that are very fitting, Vulcan or minimal as he says. Lots of boxy shoes through the 90's and as nostalgia now but mostly thin. Huston and Janowski are pretty thin ain't they?
I got a “complete” of his pro model for Flip back in 2003-2004ish for Xmas and I literally rode the wheels off that thing. It’s nose and tail were so thin that it would cut you if you landed wrong. Bright green with gold flake with an apple holding a knife in hand, with a set of “Monster” brand trucks that were so heavy I could barely flip the board lmao, and it was only like 7.65 wide OMG things have changed so much

I have a pair of Circa shoes he wore at a demo in Toronto area back in early 2000’s , the Circa rep Mike gave me them when I did a booking for my shop. I think the are size 10.5 black 201’s

I had the flip mew wave appleyard fresan board. The one that rotten is holding during makrs inro in sorry. Anyone else remember when flip had thise new wave decks where the wood was wavy.? I think i had 2 or 3. Nothing special about em. I think i cracked one in 3 days on a fs kickflip bordslide. I had to have been 15 since i got a board sponsor at 16 and wasnt riding other company boards anymore.
I had a pair of those tan and brown Circa shoes! Loved those things. Appleyard kicks with a Tom Penny Flip deck. Fuck ya! Early 2000s were rad. Orion trucks and Pig wheels.
I had the smith cover, but I wish it was the gap to back lip. They're both sick, but that gap to back lip was nuts. The way he did it was too gnarly. I felt jealous seeing how gnarly he did it, just thinking I would have done it safer if I even had the balls to step to something like that. Appleyard seems like a real cool dude. Good 00's vibes.
He was a golden touch skater. Everything he did was so clean.i rember the 360 flip to tailslide.......so smooth. Be had nollie front nose crooked on lock. He was a really good skater.

there was a trend over here in germany of putting in sponges, no joke. The good old times. I did tennis socks and later extra tongues from previous shoes.

@@twelvelookslike there was guys out there flashing the yellow sponge on the side even, it was nuts. As I write here I remember how I applied extra tongues of previous shoes with double sided tape. Once I found that trick I was finally good. All that sliding of socks and tongues was kind of silly, but went well with pants I had to pull up every 10 seconds.
@@trupiil Hahaha. You really thought it out. Im pretty sure I didn't even tie my shoes back then. I think I remember at one point I had a total of 3 tongues in each shoe. I could have really used that double sided tape.The tongues would always slide out. Its soo ridiculous thinking about it now.
Another thing I remember doing was rubbing switch stance shoe on the concrete soo people would notice the wear marks and think was good and skated switch.

I never rubbed my switch shoes but only had a short period in my heyday where I got the nollie flips going, shortly after I took years of breaks from injury. As you say it here, I also am pretty sure the shoes were not even tied. And I remember now flashbacks of people popping over hips only to collect tongues on the ground after not landing their trick, haha. By the way, I saw your video of the j_wish Rabbi, we know what's going on.
