She's amazing, and she acts too. She made several appearances on Bones as a clairvoyant

In 1984 I was 27 years old in the prime of life, Cindy Lauper, Duran Duran, Hall & Oates, Prince, The Cars, The Eurythmics, Elton John to name just a few, the music of the 80's will never be matched.

VoicePlay created such a good version of "True Colors," so unique and heartfelt. I would bet they'd make this song amazing as well. I was barely out of diapers when this song came out. I would steal my mother's makeup and put on blue eye shadow, I wanted to dye my hair red, I'd purposely wear mismatched socks, and apparently my sister actually shaved half her head... much to our mother's horror, haha! That is how iconic she was, that two kids not even old enough to read and write wanted to be like her and knew her music was awesome.

Something I think a lot of people overlook about Cyndi is that she has perfect pitch.
I own every album she has put out, I believe. She is a powerhouse. I was 18 in 1983 when her first album came out, and I've been a fan from day 1. LOVE her.

She not only sang it, she wrote it. Won a Tony award for writing music for Kinky Boots.

I don't know if you noticed, but didn't mention it, but did you notice that the audience was DEAD SILENT throughout the entire performance? You don't get that from Post-80's Concerts. This audience sat there in silence because they wanted to hear HER sing the song. Only after she finished, did they explode in cheers and whistles. That's respect right there. The kind of respect you rarely find in a modern concert audience.
As far as how Cyndi sounds now? The exact same. Maybe a bit better (decades of experience can only make you better). I heard her sing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" a few years ago and she sounded exactly the same, but less raw and more refined. She has the skill and experience now to not rely on her rawness, but instead to be able to turn it on and off as she sees fit, thus bringing more nuance to her performances than back then. She really is a remarkable singer.
Singers who never stop never lose it. Prime Example is Dolly Parton. She sounds every bit as good now as she did in her prime. Again, maybe even better now due to her decades upon decades of experience. I can't remember if you've heard it yet, but Dolly Parton did a remix of Jolene with Pentatonix in 2017. Not only was she able to keep up with Pentatonix, in many ways she "showed them how it was done." I'm not really much of a Pentatonix Fan, but I respect their talent. THIS performance, though, was INCREDIBLE. But yeah, Cyndi is much the same because, much like Dolly, Cyndi never stopped singing and performing. And, like Dolly, Cyndi took care of her voice.

If you've never seen Bones, she plays a recurring roll as a psychic and sings an absolutely stunning version of At Last by Etta James durring the Booth and Bones wedding episode.

1 She's one of the best, if not the best pop singer EVER. I am not kidding. Mariah Cary, Celine Dion, even freakin' Whitny Huston, she's better than all of them. See "Cyndi Lauper, Best Live Vocals". 2 She's got a whole body of work you have never heard. Pop, Blues, EDM, Standards, Country. They are all good. 3. For a live performance, Try "Cyndi Lauper, Live from Paris" (1987). There is a version on TH-cam where they edited out the song Boy Blue. Avoid that one. Her live performances of that song is why her husband says "She cuts a vein every time she goes out to sing." I've seen her twice live in recent years, she is as strong and energetic as ever.

I was 17 in 1984. I grew up listening to my dads music, Hank Williams, George Jones, The Statler Brothers. But I would catch artists like Cyndi Lauper, Hall & Oats and all the other singers on MTV.

I have always felt that because of her persona, somehow she got labeled as a novelty act or for whatever reason was never taken as seriously as her talent and style demanded. Regardless of her many huge hits..she never received the accolades she really deserved

She still has pipes. But at 70, her voice is very different than when she was 30. She put out an album of old jazz standards -- which seems to be a thing aging rockers do when they lose some of their range -- and it's fire.

Ah the 80’s. I wore the big skirts and teased my hair so high I had to to be carful around ceiling fans.

I had hair really similar to the male singer - only much shorter - but with the cut-out for the ears and long wisps of hair as female 'sideburns'. The sideburns were actually longer than my hair of the sides of my head. Had to have that cut to show off the earrings I used to wear all the time! Had a pair of waterfall rhinestones about 4 inches long of 8 chains of those rhinestones each. I would wear them both on one ear and then a plain cubic zirconia stud in the other ear. Cyndi's earring in this reminded me of that look. Pretty sure I probably got it from watching her.

I saw her life and her live vocals in my opinion are better than the in-studio version.
