Regarding the song (and how it was recorded), it is basically a prayer set to music, so, in my opinion, the mix reflects that, leaving the vocals clear. Regarding religion, in my opinion, the biggest problems come from people who "interpret" their own meaning from their respective "Holy Books" and use those interpretations to limit and/or control others. VOB are rebels and they are devout, and it's not a contradiction. Their faith is stronger than the (interpreted) "rules."
