สำหรับ นายเศรษฐา ทวีสิน แคนดิเดตนายกฯ ของพรรคเพื่อไทยว่าที่นายกรัฐมนตรีคนที่ 30 ของประเทศไทย อยู่ในวงการอสังหาริมทรัพย์ ก่อนจะเข้าสู่การเมืองด้วยการเป็นสมาชิกพรรคเพื่อไทย ก่อนการเลือกตั้งเพียงไม่กี่เดือน แต่ว่าถ้าย้อนกลับไปก่อนหน้านั้น นายเศรษฐา เคยแสดงความคิดเห็นทางการเมืองมาก่อนแล้ว ช่วงที่มีการชุมนุมของ กปปส. นายเศรษฐา ทวีสิน ชื่อเล่น นิด อายุ 60 ปี สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาโท ด้านการเงิน ที่มหาวิทยาลัยบัณฑิตศึกษาแคลร์มอนต์ รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย สหรัฐอเมริกา สมรสกับ พญ.พักตร์พิไล ทวีสิน มีบุตร 3 คน ปี 2529 นายเศรษฐา เข้าทำงานที่ พรอคเตอร์ แอนด์ แกมเบิล เป็นเวลา 4 ปี ต่อมาได้ย้ายไปทำงานที่บริษัท แสนสำราญ ของลูกพี่ลูกน้อง จากนั้นได้เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น บริษัท แสนสิริ จำกัด (มหาชน) และนายเศรษฐาได้ดำรงตำแหน่งประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหารของบริษัทดังกล่าว นายเศรษฐา เป็นคนที่ใช้สื่อโซเชียล โดยเฉพาะทวิตเตอร์ แสดงความคิดเห็นเรื่องการบริหารบ้านเมือง เศรษฐกิจ และสังคมได้ค่อนข้างเฉียบคม เป็นการเชื่อมต่อและสื่อสารทางความคิดกับคนรุ่นใหม่ ซึ่งก่อนเข้าสู่เส้นทางการเมืองอย่างเป็นทางการ นายเศรษฐาเคยแสดงความไม่เห็นด้วยกับการชุมนุมของ กปปส. ในปี 2556-2557 และต่อมาหลังรัฐประหาร ปี 2557 เขาถูกคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ เรียกให้ไปรายงานตัว ส่วนเส้นทางสู่การเมืองนั้น นายเศรษฐา ประกาศว่าได้สมัครเป็นสมาชิกของพรรคเพื่อไทย เมื่อเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2565 ต่อมาในเดือนมีนาคม 2566 พรรคเพื่อไทย แต่งตั้งให้เป็นประธานที่ปรึกษาหัวหน้าครอบครัวพรรคเพื่อไทย นั่นคือเป็นที่ปรึกษาให้กับ นางสาวแพทองธาร ชินวัตร จากนั้น นายเศรษฐา ลาออกจากบริษัทแสนสิริ โดยไม่รับเงินเดือน พร้อมโอนหุ้นที่เคยถืออยู่ในบริษัทจำนวน 13 แห่ง ให้บุคคลอื่น นายเศรษฐา ลงพื้นที่หาเสียงครั้งแรกที่ชุมชนคลองเตย และขึ้นเวทีปราศรัยครั้งแรกที่จังหวัดพิจิตร เดือนเมษายน พรรคเพื่อไทย ก็เสนอ นายเศรษฐา ในบัญชีรายชื่อผู้สมควรดำรงตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรี พร้อมกับ นางสาวแพทองธาร ชินวัตร และนายชัยเกษม นิติสิริ
