Saint Nicholas Day is celebrated in Ukraine on December 19. Saint Nicholas is one of the most revered saints of the church - a miracle worker, intercessor of the poor, protector of children, and patron of travelers.
He helped those in trouble, saved them from drowning and brought them to dry land from the depths of the sea, freed them from captivity and brought the freed home, saved them from bonds and prisons, protected them from being cut by the sword, freed them from death and gave many healings to many, enlightenment to the blind, the lame walking, the deaf hearing, the dumb the gift of speech. Saint Nicholas is still spoken of as a saint who changes a person's destiny!
