    I think that would work well. Maybe put a little dent in the surface with a churn brush. I would like to have tried some black flecks in those bricks just to see.

    Garden State face brick use to do that to house around New York. They were fast and it looked good. My friends house had it on for 40 years before they put siding over it.

      Some of the brickwork courses look smaller 😃

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +David Vallerius Well done David. You are the first one to spot it. I used a piece of timber batten and marked off courses from the house wall but what I hadn't figured was the slight variation in the brick sizes which is accommodated in the mortar beds. When those variations are transferred to the fake work the beds are all exactly the same so the variation appears in the bricks. On the next job I measured the courses with a tape and it was better.

    • @davidvallerius4458
      @davidvallerius4458 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Standard brickwork courses are 75mm , if you start at the top and work to the bottom if the last course is smaller it doesn't notice because of the difference in finished floor levels which should be 150mm below your damp course 😃

      Hi Chris
      Yes you can put it onto Stucco. As for the USA I don't know of a supplier but I am sure there is one. I will do some research.

      It is all in the mix. I am not sure you can make a product like this with sand and cement

      +Mykel Walker Hi Mykel
      It would work but I wound prefer to use a cement based board if you can get it. You need to avoid movement.

      Eliza Bobrovskyte Hi Eliza If you contact Bostik in Stafford they should be able to give you a local stockist. It is out there in merchants. I am sorry that I can't give you a contact name there because there have been a few changes in staff and I don't know the current marketing manager.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't seem to have much idea about marketing. Try Weber, they do a similar product and it is easier to get.

  • @lengthmuldoon
    @lengthmuldoon 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you apply it on metal lath over osb board?

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could do that but why not use a cement based board and go straight on without the bother of metal lath? If you do go onto metal lath over OSB use OSB 3 and tack a vapour barrier over the board before you fix the metal lath,

      ***** I had never done it before the video. I think it is one of the easiest wall coatings you can do but I can't speak for others.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Funnily enough that is the mistake I made with this job. You can see the variation in the courses. I took the marks off an existing wall and transferred them. With real bricks you get slightly variations in the bricks that are then made up in the mortar beds but with all the beds being exactly the same on the fake work the variation shows in the bricks. You can see a course of big bricks followed by smaller ones. Next job I will use a tape measure. You live and learn

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      That is an unknown but the company says it will outlast sand and cement because of the polymers. I would expect the colour to fade after 20 years or so especially red which is susceptible to U.V but it has shown no signs of fading yet. We live in hope

  • @neech63
    @neech63 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    can you mix colours it looks a bit too red ?

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree about the red and the answer is 'Yes you can mix and throw other dyes onto it. There are other manufacturers who do something a little different.
      I would want to put a black fleck on it. If you look around you will see some people have managed to make this idea work really well.

    How about if raining no problems

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If raining you need to cover it up to stop it streaking. Same as sand and cement. After three hours you should be safe.

      Depends where you are. In the U.K it is probably easier to pick it up from a stockist. Another company doing a similar thing is Weber. They have more colours.

      Most building work is monotonous that is why they call it work

  • @vichy72

    it takes longer than the real brick

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends who you are and if you are starting with a concrete wall it save demolition. I would rather have brick but this is a quick fix and improves things if you are selling a property.

    • @RajDrummer1
