Leo is technically the king of Ultimate but Zero had consistency and actually cared about the meta and being #1 while other players were just taking it easy. I mean there was even a time where Leo was hated a bit during Ultimate because everyone knew it's Leo's time. It just happens when you actually reach the top and beat out the best. The situation with Zero and Nairo is bad but idk if tech is memeing or is being serious. You can't be friends with Zero then expect to be Nairos biggest hate like that's not how it works and I do think tech is being a drama queen. He calls out Nairo but doesn't dog on Zero at all like he does with Nairo. Makes no sense tbh.
And for exposing the reddit corruption of the smash bros forum there. Putting some light there with your huge audience. I have mentioned many times before that smash 4 and smash 5 is p2w but because it's something that is negative towards what the moderators personally like, they take it down because critism and discusion/debate are not welcome.
How hard was it just for them to say "he's banned, we don't condone statutory rape"? It was a massive ordeal when they could have just said, day one, "of course he's banned, now stop being a prick on our streams" but instead it was a months long meltdown all around. Smash community leaders keep acting like it's a personal insult when you ask them if nairos behaviour is acceptable or not when it should be so easy to say nah, we don't support this. Its frustrating seeing them treat you like an absolute monster when you've said/done more than any of them.
All the people involved in organizing and running events are friends with the players. Everyone regularly involved in the scene are either friends with one another or a friend of a friend with one another. Nairo was part of the cool kid's club. Technicals is seen as an asshole/outsider for reasons of...well, essentially just harshing everyone's buzz/killing the vibe, from what I can see. Having someone from the out group try to force you into punitive action against an in group member (who doesn't even show up to events anymore which conveniently takes the need to make a decision out of their hands)? It's not *right*, what happened, but it's easily to see *why* things played out that way.
They most likely are friends with them. After all, they claim that they punish people however they only punish the people they hate. If they like the person many times they will turn a blind eye. The only time they ever call out a popular player is when a lot of people call them out on how ridiculous they are acting or when technicals release the proof that expose their “good faith”

While I don't support GimR or Aposl when it comes the whole nairo ordeal, I do think its important to point out they were getting stressed out by managing SWT and their events. Smash TO's/orgs don't get paidrleatively to the effort they put it. I'd like to think they were at a loss for words, but I guess I will never know

Most of us are over the nairo situation(yes he's guilty, his fans still love him, everyone else doesnt), and more worried about leffen being around. This was unnecessary, and takes away from current issues in the community.

It’s a dependency issue. In the absence of a sensible Nintendo to work with the smash community has always done everything on their own. Now some of that has solidified in a hierarchy where only the veteran organizers are allowed a voice and they try to avoid all accountability by banking on the low maturity levels of the community to defend actions like in this video

I've been in the fighting game community to over 17 years, and we've had players who were revealed to be absolutely heinous or did some crazy shit who were immediately banned. When Infiltration was revealed to have abused his wife, instant ban from tournaments and events. Noel Brown made unwanted advances on a female attendee, and was immediately banned from tournaments. The Smash community is the ONLY community I've ever seen where just being good at the game warrants absolute protection, while the people bringing actual evidence like Technicals are demonized by the community. They should be thanking him! If there were more people willing to actually clean up their scene and call out bad eggs in the Smash community, there wouldn't be a need for Technicals. But they don't. The nepotism within this community is fucking insane...

I deal with that practically everyday as a chef (and former waiter). But what I’ve learned over time in smash community is that it’s not who’s right or wrong, it’s usually about who has more loyal fans/support sadly and how loud those supporters are. This community has jumped the gun on so much over the years, that sometimes they were wrong and probably didn’t even admit it.

I defend neither, but I think the EDP situation is worse. For the Nairo situation, I don't see it as a "dominance/taking advantage of" situation. I mean, he was literally throwing bussy at Nairo. EDP belongs behind bars, but I just see Nairo as pathetic for taking him up on it. The way I see it, if the situation were actually real, I'd see the 13 year old girl as the victim who wasn't at fault. With Nairo's situation, Captain Zack is less of a victim as the potential 13 year old, but he knew exactly what he was doing and should be reprimanded for it. As for Nairo, he's not even worth it.

I think Tweek actually had a point with his tweet during the whole #unbannairo deal. I don't view Nairo as a threat to the community... ANYMORE. Obviously this man had weak morals and got caught slippin back when the incident happened. I doubt he would ever get caught up with some bullshit like that again, regardless of whether his character has changed or not. The point, however, is that the man needs to be held accountable for his actions, and the fact that a large amount of the community seems to not want this to be the case because of favoritism is a huge problem and is pretty much just corruption. Addressing Nairos case here means addressing the undercurrents of the smash community that are ok with letting sus and fucked up shit happen behind the scenes as long as the community is bright and shiny on the surface for everyone to enjoy. Not a great way for a community to operate given the fact that it welcomes many minors in the scene, it's basically one step away from being a child sex ring. So it's not about whether Nairo is actually a problem anymore, it's about making sure that when people do fucked up shit, they can't just walk away scott-free.

I mean there was even a time where Leo was hated a bit during Ultimate because everyone knew it's Leo's time. It just happens when you actually reach the top and beat out the best. The situation with Zero and Nairo is bad but idk if tech is memeing or is being serious. You can't be friends with Zero then expect to be Nairos biggest hate like that's not how it works and I do think tech is being a drama queen. He calls out Nairo but doesn't dog on Zero at all like he does with Nairo. Makes no sense tbh.

How hard was it just for them to say "he's banned, we don't condone statutory rape"? It was a massive ordeal when they could have just said, day one, "of course he's banned, now stop being a prick on our streams" but instead it was a months long meltdown all around.

All the people involved in organizing and running events are friends with the players. Everyone regularly involved in the scene are either friends with one another or a friend of a friend with one another. Nairo was part of the cool kid's club. Technicals is seen as an asshole/outsider for reasons of...well, essentially just harshing everyone's buzz/killing the vibe, from what I can see. Having someone from the out group try to force you into punitive action against an in group member (who doesn't even show up to events anymore which conveniently takes the need to make a decision out of their hands)? It's not *right*, what happened, but it's easily to see *why* things played out that way.
They most likely are friends with them. After all, they claim that they punish people however they only punish the people they hate. If they like the person many times they will turn a blind eye. The only time they ever call out a popular player is when a lot of people call them out on how ridiculous they are acting or when technicals release the proof that expose their “good faith”
The reason is, if anyone bans someone that is gay, the wrath of the earth will scorch them alive. The political climate is why they kept dancing around the issue. The climate now is trying to call such awful people "maps" and it's trying to praise them. All these broadcasters are religiously woke

I've been in the fighting game community to over 17 years, and we've had players who were revealed to be absolutely heinous or did some crazy shit who were immediately banned. When Infiltration was revealed to have abused his wife, instant ban from tournaments and events. Noel Brown made unwanted advances on a female attendee, and was immediately banned from tournaments.
The Smash community is the ONLY community I've ever seen where just being good at the game warrants absolute protection, while the people bringing actual evidence like Technicals are demonized by the community. They should be thanking him! If there were more people willing to actually clean up their scene and call out bad eggs in the Smash community, there wouldn't be a need for Technicals. But they don't. The nepotism within this community is fucking insane...

VGBootCamp saying so late that Nairo was "never unbanned" is really strange. They could've said that so much sooner, and the fact that they didn't is definitely suspicious. That being said, I feel like this video was not really good? The first 2 minutes was a pointless recap, followed by a longer 4 minutes of just screenshots of deranged Nairo fans just to get to the response.
This response in and of itself is just not good? VGBC's is horrible as well, so this just really feels like watching 2 children arguing with each other. 7:18 is a meaningless portion. Calling out ad hominem is pretty nonsensical when a majority of your own arguments have ad hominem, subtle and blunt, as well.
9:49 is a very great point. VGBC not stating that Nairo was still banned at that point in time has to be one of the most confusing decisions ever, and it's fairly reasonable to assume that they never banned them in the first place and are just saying they did.
You have a small bit of the video related to this whole "ratio" thing. I do not understand why you care so much about this or why you think GimR cares about this? It's very obvious that the words inside of the tweet itself are what they care about, and to pretend otherwise is just being deliberately obtuse. At 13:55 you make easily the worst argument of the video-I don't even understand how this made the script, was proofread, said aloud, edited, and published under the guise of being a real point. Your entire point is that you weren't "quoted accurately," which would be a fair point if we pretend that paraphrasing just doesn't exist? Pretending that saying 'you condone sx with a 15 year old' is not nearly identical to saying 'you condone pedophilia' just doesn't make sense...and I really don't understand why or how you're pretending it does. It's a completely meaningless point to tackle; it feels like it's only there to bolster your otherwise weak claim that they took action solely because of a like ratio.
10-29 - 11:27 is another great point from you that brings a lot of what VGBC and Nairo are saying into question. Why is a user banned by Twitch able to re-stream Twitch events that they 1) haven't gotten alleged required permission for 2) are banned from 3) claim they get permission for before re-streaming them? And why, given all of these things, has there been no action taken against Nairo in that aspect? This inconsistency makes VGBC look very bad and their lack of a response to this inconsistency is also even worse for them. They're surely aware of the re-streams, and anyone that would claim they aren't is just lying to defend Nairo blindly.
7:50 We get another pretty meaningless point here. What they said there is fairly reasonable and is not a message of "we don't want to respond because we'll get backlash." It is exactly how they said-responding to the claims takes time, resource, and can very obviously cause mental stress. How is the final part of that sentence supposed to be wrong? Is the discourse not overwhelmingly toxic? You have Nairo fans with 2 functioning braincells believing him and him completely, attacking anyone who disagrees with them. And then you have some of your own fans as well who mindlessly regurgitate the every argument you spoon feed them, attacking anyone who disagrees with them. It's wildly toxic, but it's not your fault at all. People who get upset at you "causing chaos in the community 😢" are all stupid. Toxic people will appear on both sides of the argument every time, especially with cases as sensitive as these.
I personally don't believe you care at all about whether Nairo is banned or not, whether ZeRo is banned or not, etc. You yourself were VERY wrongly banned, and I feel like you've been projecting your problems with your ban onto these Smash ban situations. Nairo's ban is a stepping stone for your real objective of calling every creator/player/commentator that supported Nairo, used the unban hashtag or claimed they read the document and supported his voice. It just has to be. If it wasn't, you would care no longer for this topic after reading that VGBC "never unbanned" Nairo. Your mission was successful. He's banned. Do not misinterpret this, I do NOT think that you would be wrong for having this objective. I think Nairo should absolutely, undoubtedly be banned and that those who supported him should be called into question. This would make for an uprising that would easily tear the Smash community into pieces. There are all sorts of notable individuals: MKLeo, Light, Cosmos, Alpharad, Riddles, Kola, Hungrybox, etc. that would be guilty of supporting someone who had sx with a 15 year old. The actions that would be taken against those people piques my interest, and I feel it undoubtedly piques yours. I need to state one more time for anyone illiterate, I do NOT think you doing this with the intention of exposing the community/"causing chaos" is bad. I think it's very much needed and this was just my observation.
I support you heavily in this battle vs the Smash community's corruption, but I tried to be as objective as possible in this breakdown. I don't want to brainlessly agree with absolutely everything you or VGBC say, so that's why I call out some of this video as bad or meaningless. I think Tweek actually had a point with his tweet during the whole #unbannairo deal. I don't view Nairo as a threat to the community... ANYMORE. Obviously this man had weak morals and got caught slippin back when the incident happened. I doubt he would ever get caught up with some bullshit like that again, regardless of whether his character has changed or not. The point, however, is that the man needs to be held accountable for his actions, and the fact that a large amount of the community seems to not want this to be the case because of favoritism is a huge problem and is pretty much just corruption. Addressing Nairos case here means addressing the undercurrents of the smash community that are ok with letting sus and fucked up shit happen behind the scenes as long as the community is bright and shiny on the surface for everyone to enjoy. Not a great way for a community to operate given the fact that it welcomes many minors in the scene, it's basically one step away from being a child sex ring. So it's not about whether Nairo is actually a problem anymore, it's about making sure that when people do fucked up shit, they can't just walk away scott-free.
