Hey all! I'm aware of the weird jump at 2:46:11. We did have a second break due to how long this particular session took and it was around that time. Don't worry! You didn't miss anything important. Next time I'll do better to make those transitions smoother, so sorry about that. - ZoranTheBear
I like how the core point was to withold information as ante, but Beetle kept just.... telling Krohk everything before hand, even after being told he's just giving out free information oof
The background music for this episode has me questioning whether or not it's the Fallout: New Vegas soundtrack or not, really dig the vibe. And I'm cursed with the horrible idea of a Rotgrind/goons in Fallout show where everyone plays Fallout versions of their character in the Mojave Wasteland some years after the events of New Vegas, using the Fallout RPG rules with homebrew, and Rehua is an actual robot, Beetle is a sentient gecko, and Heart is a Super Mutant and his "dad" is The Master, and Baldric is a scientist/explosives expert who still wears a bucket for a helmet, and Tellem is a Synth duplicate of a caravanner merchant who actually died years ago, and Tannhauser is basically the same minus magic but with BIGGER GUNS and SCIENCE. That's cursed knowledge info-hazardous cringe I inflict on you all because my own brain inflicts this nonsense on me.
Never was and still am not a big fan of gambling, so I was more enthralled with the unexpected family drama; very good roleplaying 🤩 For the algorithm! 👍
I got really infuriated during this episode, because they were just... giving Krohk all the information he wanted. Like, did they never realise that they were there to bargain? I mean, it's sweet, that they are such nice people at heart, that they think just giving everybody what they want will make them help them, but come on, that was the worst negotiation skill I've ever seen xD
So i was trying to understand the rules for this black jack game, was 10-12 supposed to be face cards? So 10-12 were tens? And aces are either 1 or 11, all face cards are 10 and every other card has its face value.
I'm not sure Zoran was fully keeping track of it, let alone the players. My best bet (heh) by the end of it was that 1 = Ace, 2-10 = what you'd expect, 11/12 = jack/queen/king condensed down because there's no such thing as a D13, but even that was hazy. Perhaps actually having a dice option that draws a card (same as the "D2" flipping a virtual coin) in Foundry would be useful to avoid that kind of confusion?
He's a ghost one of his abilities is he can phase an object from the real world into the spirit world and back so he'd turn the bottom card into spectral then back after it phased through the table
@@NMXP It takes like ten minutes though, not really useful in this situation. I think it's more a case of just mage-handing / prestidigitationing / etc it under the lip of the table (the more usual meaning of "under the table" in this case, simply held out of view, maybe even held up against the underside of the tabletop), however you may have obtained it in order to put it there, and then somehow switching it into your own player's hand or even that of the dealer using similar magics and hoping not to be spotted. Though the way it was described in-game here sounded more like outright altering the appearance of an already held card, like some minor form of illusion or transmutation?
Love the episode, love the show, regrettably couldn’t catch the last live one. Zoran, my dude, my guy, my brother, I don’t want to come across as hostile or putting you down, because I’m not and I know you’re WAY too hard on yourself just like I am. This is constructive criticism, I want that to be very clear. You could use some variety in the ways you fill dead air while you think for a beat. It’s all good, everybody needs to do that even just giving a speech or having a conversation, but it gets really grating to the audience when you use the same phrase or method over and over again. Add a little variety and people tend to notice you are taking a moment to think less and the overall flow of speech becomes smoother. In addition to “or so” add in another phrase or two, or even just pause for a beat and say nothing, and you’re GOLDEN my man. Thanks.
Did everyone forget that it’s completely normal for gambling establishments to use multiple decks for a single game to prevent card counting? Why couldn’t someone get a hand of Aces?
It's as many packs are there are players, minus one... something like that, isn't it? Though that would be difficult to stack up all at once for blackjack, especially if you don't have one of those casino style card tower thingies... And if it was a set number of decks you could still count that, probably?
9 months late, but as someone who knows how to count cards, multiple decks don't make a difference for card counting. That was one of the first things they tried to use to prevent card counting but then they realized it didn't make a difference.

Maybe next time the goons go gambling make a Rotgrind version of Final fantasy 8 and 9 Triple Triad or Bravely Default 2 's Blind and Divide.
No problem Zoran, technical glitches happen afterall. Always some stuff to be expected in a stream
No worries! Thank you so much for the hours of content every week and my DnD group loves all the Rotgrind content from your Patreon!
You could name Rotgrind Blackjack as “Pawn’s Con”
I suspect that Beetle's mom has a gambling problem and that's what all the "mortgage payments" are for
Name suggestion for black jack in Rotgrind setting:
Baron's Gambit or Prince's Gambit to tie it into the lore.
Pawn's Gambit also works
Beetle is the ace.

'a high rolling Platypus?'
'Perry the high rolling Platypus?!?!. Glad to see you finally got a raise buddy!'
Remember irl, Froggy knows nothing about gambling
Been stressing so hard about college exams. This is a nice break from staring at stuff i should know but don't

That ain't nonsense, it sounds awesome!
24:19 Who's the mummy, What's the ghoul, I Don't Know's the zombie...

I really love these epsiodes where there is more role play then combat.

Honestly one of the best episodes because of the blackjack
I love generational trauma!!!
Unironically a lot of the best stories are just that.
Lord of The Rings
Star Wars
Godfather
To name a few.
Krohk's voice reminds me of Mr. Hades from Hadestown
There is some cut content at 2:46:11 and ta the end
Damn you cliffhanger!!!!!
The Rotfather
Please tell me Crok and gang play Triple triad or Bind and Divide?
Its all fun and games until someone gets maimed.

Does this mean crock is a direct competitor of Captain Zedick?
2:50:50 cliffhanger!
See everyone in a month!
2 aces is 2 or 12
How do you draw a card from under the table?!?! Please explain as that seems to make no sense to me....

Thanks! But it's the way I talk and that can't be changed on a dime. Sadly folks will have to deal with it. - ZoranTheBear
Absolutely! You’re good.
