If/when you do make it to Arizona, I highly recommend taking a trip over to Californa and Joshua Tree National Park--absolutely beautiful, and there are areas with fields and fields of teddy bear cholla. They are so thick with spines they look almost fuzzy, hence the name, and they glow so beautifully in the sun. It's only about 200 miles from Phoenix, AZ, so not terribly far by US standards!

Had to pause halfway through to catch my breath, amazing collection,love the thousands of perfectly organized seedlings. I visited the Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut yesterday,They have a huge collection of cacti,succulents and tropical plants in a nice sized greenhouse but it still doesnt come close to this. 🌵👍

I haven't seen plants that size since I lived in California decades ago. The Germans seem to have a real knack and feel for their plants ,AWESOME selection , we don't have anything like that here in the Ozarks . do get some nice plants at garden centers, but if you want something special like ariocarpus , you will have to order it. Used to get my special plants out west at California cactus center, you can still see them on. Utube . now I order. Thank you so much for your guided tours ! I did not see this channel for a while, so i am going trough some older vids of you. This was a gorgeous video! I have been only to one cactus nursery too, but it is out of bussiness now, it was in Limburg the Netherlands. Also beautifull but not this many species. The day before they closed i was able to purchase some cuttings from some old beauties, who are doing great! Berlin is not that far from my home so this is next on my wishlist! Absolutely amazing Lyn. I've been to Germany over 20 times now but never been to berlin I'm definitely going next time! If you're ever in the canary Islands I recommend The Jardín de Cactus, it's an outdoor cactus garden with over 4k specimens and 400 species! They even sell delicious cactus burgers

You have to visit Southern California and see the numerous cactus nurseries as well as the Mohave desert. I have been to numerous cactus nurseries in California and a few in Arizona but, seeing cactus in natural habitat is much better than any nursery or garden.

Hey Lynn. Thankyou so much for the video. I need to ask a question. I have been hospitalized, leaving my plants at home. I'm worried more for them and want to know how long an opuntia, and epiphyllum will last without water. The epiphyllum is a rooted cutting. I couldn't bare to loose these plants. Thankyou in advance for any advice/ help. Unfortunately, I live with people who have limited experience with plants, never mined epiphyts and cacti. Again, thankyou so much for the video, it brings a joy to my days at home and in hospital. I appreciate the effort you put in, and how you love cacti so much. If/when you do make it to Arizona, I highly recommend taking a trip over to Californa and Joshua Tree National Park--absolutely beautiful, and there are areas with fields and fields of teddy bear cholla. They are so thick with spines they look almost fuzzy, hence the name, and they glow so beautifully in the sun. It's only about 200 miles from Phoenix, AZ, so not terribly far by US standards!

Had to pause halfway through to catch my breath, amazing collection,love the thousands of perfectly organized seedlings. I visited the Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut yesterday,They have a huge collection of cacti,succulents and tropical plants in a nice sized greenhouse but it still doesnt come close to this. 🌵👍

I haven't seen plants that size since I lived in California decades ago. The Germans seem to have a real knack and feel for their plants ,AWESOME selection , we don't have anything like that here in the Ozarks . do get some nice plants at garden centers, but if you want something special like ariocarpus , you will have to order it. Used to get my special plants out west at California cactus center, you can still see them on. Utube . now I order. Thank you so much for your guided tours ! I have been only to one cactus nursery too, but it is out of bussiness now, it was in Limburg the Netherlands.
Also beautifull but not this many species. The day before they closed i was able to purchase some cuttings from some old beauties, who are doing great!
Berlin is not that far from my home so this is next on my wishlist!

Absolutely amazing Lyn. I've been to Germany over 20 times now but never been to berlin I'm definitely going next time! If you're ever in the canary Islands I recommend The Jardín de Cactus, it's an outdoor cactus garden with over 4k specimens and 400 species! They even sell delicious cactus burgers

You have to visit Southern California and see the numerous cactus nurseries as well as the Mohave desert. I have been to numerous cactus nurseries in California and a few in Arizona but, seeing cactus in natural habitat is much better than any nursery or garden.

@@desertplantsofavalon The deserts of Southern California and Arizona are vast but, I would focus on what interests you. The problem with buying cactus in the US is dealing with export restrictions and possible CITES permits.

Hey Lynn. Thankyou so much for the video. I need to ask a question. I have been hospitalized, leaving my plants at home. I'm worried more for them and want to know how long an opuntia, and epiphyllum will last without water. The epiphyllum is a rooted cutting. I couldn't bare to loose these plants. Thankyou in advance for any advice/ help. Unfortunately, I live with people who have limited experience with plants, never mined epiphyts and cacti. Again, thankyou so much for the video, it brings a joy to my days at home and in hospital. I appreciate the effort you put in, and how you love cacti so much. So sending YOU plant and cactus power, joy and happiness from england.
