- We're starting our project car in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021. I bought a wrecked Shelby Cobra (DC Typhoon) from the junkyard, and we've got it on the second lift in the garage to repair. For this rebuild we're ONLY using repaired parts we scavenge from the junkyard and barns, except for the parts that just can't be repaired.

this is how i work; might help you out: empty inventory and shopping list. strip car (i usually strip body, then rear, then front,then engine) fix anything possible from stripped section. check inventory and add anything you didnt fix/cant fix/not high enough percentage to shopping list. go buy or hunt those parts. complete that section. clear inventory and shopping list and repeat per section.
i find it easier to keep track of everything in that manner and it makes it far easier to keep track of what you can and cannot repair and what youre looking for in scrap.
anything red is irreparable; regardless of it can be fixed or not. Starter and fuel pump are certainly repairable.
I'm not rebuilding this car all at once though. The intent was just to keep it as a side project that I fix gradually over time as we scavenge parts :)

Create a list in gameevery time you go to the junk yard or barn finds so when you go you always know what you need. You can clear the list when you return.
Hmm it would only sort of work as not all of the parts can be selected before you’re ready to put them on. I might have to make a list out of game :)
You sold the body parts, the fuse box, and front suspension from one side at the beginning. I’m saving and repairing everything. I typically build up an engine from my spare parts then go to the junkyard and buy a car for the engine. Typically the v8 engines are the most common.
Yeah I got rid of a couple of pieces I should have used.
Mind numbing is an understatement. I never want to do another three star car again. It was painful, cost me like 18k per trip to the junkyard for parts.

Enjoying your videos...My one problem is racing on track. Can you maybe help me with setting my gear ratios in DYNO so that I can control car better?
I’m not to good at adjusting gear settings either but usually control issues in this game is more impacted by tires. Try some slicks on the back :)

Is there a list of how rare each car is in the game, in terms of how often they appear in the barn/junkyard/auction?
Imho BMW M3 and Golf are everywhere, Lambo is a bit tricky to get but not impossible, yet I've never seen Tesla (yes I have DLC) and a few other cars. Or this is pure random?
I think there’s a variable that determines how often you see each car but I’m not sure what the breakdown by car is.
You can have multiple engines on the stand
You can hold engines in your inventory

So do you have to be constantly on the internet for mods to work? Or can you just download then and go offline and they still work?
No you subscribe to the mod on Steam, and it installs it in the game folder for you to use

how do you know what can't be repaired ? is there an indicator or it's just something you learn ?
It’s just experience and anything below 15% you can’t repair even it’s something you can repair
Fuel pumps and starters are entirely repairable on console

Mirrors are repairable as well.
How did you get rid of the rust on the body?
You need to use the welding machine to fix the body
Also buy a junker that uses similar parts for parts repair and sell the chassis to recoup some cost.

You should build 2 completely identical cars except one be all 3 star and one not. Compare resell

@@CrypticFoxGaming could do the 3star off the air then do a live of you building the regular one and have the big reveal at the end.
@@CrypticFoxGaming one youtuber 'DieselDesign' already did that and it's not worth, only putting performance parts in the car is worth it. For each star on every performance part you get 500 credits in total car value and it takes a lot of scrap to upgrade all of the performance parts

An idea for the junkyard builds is to find the non repairable items, and THEN swapping them for new pieces!
Potentially, but they have to be assembled in a particular order so they’d get stuck behind other pieces

Depends what you're looking for. My Garage is neat in that you get to drive around the countryside etc, but the detail and graphics in this game are nice for the mechanical work :)
I know I can fix the fuel pump, and starter on Xbox.
I spent for days and spent roughly 50k in a junk yard on random parts for cost savings. Lol! Saved myself a couple hundred thousand credits on restoring vehicles.
