When purchasing costume or plated jewelry, if you coat the piece with clear nail polish BEFORE ever wearing, (two coats are even better) you will have those pieces for years and years. You can occasionally recoat them if you think there is wear too. Best kept secret for wearing less expensive jewelry.

So smart! I grew up thinking I was a gold girlie but I did a color analysis last year and found out I am a cool winter! I've been slowly accumulating silver and white gold pieces but have no heart not to wear my yellow gold pieces I accumulated all these years. Thank you for the tips!
