One of my favorite things about this show is it seems completely unedited, they just play for the time allotted and pick up where they left off next time, and if it goes completely off the rails, who cares
Unedited/improvised shows are my favorite! That's why I think Craig Ferguson's late night show was the best, it was pretty much all unscripted, which made it absolutely hilarious! British game shows like QI, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie to You, and Mock the Week are great shows that are heavily improvised, and are very funny!
Gene was good at keeping it in the allotted time where there wasn't much editing, I think when they started editing out the time while the panel were writing their answer but I still think he kept it as close as possible to the time fame so there wasn't much editing to be done. And also Marc was very good director as well.. ;0)
@@sdlively27 The one thing I don't like about the format is when a show ends with a game in progress at the end of the week, and the contestants have to finish the game with a new set of celebrities. It always seems weird and a little unfair that one contestant matches one group and the other will have to match a whole different group (four new celebs next week, only Brett and Richard will carry over). I've even seen instances where a new celeb had to lay out of the first question because the celeb in their chair the prior week had matched. Oh well, it's still the best game show ever!
OMG!!! I'm so glad to have found this eppie of MATCH GAME!!! I remember watching this particular episode (from October 26, 1973 [I was age six.]) when it was originally broadcast on CBS largely because of three things--Nancy's sexy and incredibly alluring outfit, her hairdo and her easy-to-remember name of "Nancy Cox."
Kind of another slow week but Brett won the week giving away 3,000 in head to head and audience match matches. Richard gave away 500 dollars in audience match match and match 6 times for the regulars.. Betty gave away 2,750 in audience match matches and a head to head match. Jo Ann won with 10 matches for the semi regular and gave away 500 dollars in an audience match match.. ;0)

Omg.....Pat's impression of Paul Lynde was perfect!
I love gene “are you ready…. I bet you are” “we took a big poll” lolol

The best opening/intro of any game show ever!
I just love Nancy's outfit, so cute. she had Gene rattled...lol.
Jo Ann Pflug is giving her the look at 5:19. So funny.
Charles putting Gene on the spot... priceless!
@scdevon
Ha haha yeah!
Good catch.
Not every woman was able to wear Hot Pants.
I'm impressed that Betty white turned 97, yesterday. Happy late birthday, continue being awesome!
I've watched 75 episodes and never have there been two men playing against one another.
Interesting trivia! Thanks!
I’ve been thinking this!
Pat had three good funnies in a row! Hilarious! 😂
I would have put Jell-O in that waterbed, make it extra jiggly!
That's what I thought

Panelists:
1. Pat Harrington
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Jo Anne Phlug
5. Richard Dawson
6. Betty White
I love these guys!! 😃😄🥰
I love the Paul Lynde impressions!
Can't get enough of this show !!!!
How come Johnny didn’t say “stay tuned for Secret Storm next, over most of these CBS stations”?
One of my favorite parts of this show is when Johnny Olson announces the panel and they always try to make him laugh. (He did this time)
Paul Lynde should have gotten residuals or something after the contestant and most of the panelists did their best(?) impressions of him today!
Charles kills me. "I do have a booth at the farmer's market." 😝
Rip Richard Dawson very good actor on hogan heroes look nice and sweet
Look at the terrible wide-angel shot right after Nancy walks on the stage. Ha! Even the cameraman was distracted!
I think rope woulda been the answer to the cowboy question today...
I guess that was a risque outfit in 1973...
Called hot pants in the 70s.
@@margaritadiaz7545Yes and in 1972 they were all the rage. Everyone wore them and this is only a year later
Yeah still a little risque to appear on a game show but she could wear them
Pat did a pretty good Paul Lynde impression.
Lol Tom Hiddleston thinks he's Hank Williams and Richard Dawson
Where was Nancy in 73 when I was looking...oh wait I was only 16
Gene Rayburn rocks that bow tie
I keep picturing Jo Ann Pflug, as" Ltn. Dish", in the movie M*A*S*H. She was great!
MASH was a good movie!
@gericumming6122 Jo Ann just isn't the least bit sexy on this show. I saw MASH but it's been so long ago I don't remember the movie.
I think Brett loves tearing up everybodys answer cards, probably trying to take out her frustrations on being married to Jack Klugman. :)
Gene was telling her to tear up Pat's "squirrels" answer!
WTF is Pat Harrington wearing???
It gave me an instant HEADACHE !
Wow! Gene wore some crazy outfits but Pat is out there Lordy!
I expected the answer, "Instant Karma," from such a hip chick in her hotpants outfit.
Very good episode! Brett actually let others riff instead of constantly hogging the mic?!!
11:20 "Dueling Paul Lynde Impressions" (or something cleverer that eludes me at this late hour) should be the title of this video.
Paul Lynde the voice of the hooded claw on Penelope pitstop the classic Hannah Barbera cartoon.
3:00 Nobody gave looks directly to camera quite like CNR.
I don't drink, but what's the point of filling your bed with booze if you can't drink it?

Harrington's sarcastic remark to Dawson about Richard's divorce was cruel and funny.

Betty White :)
Jo Ann Pflug wearing an 8th AAF T-shirt...🧑✈
Betty seems to hardly match the contestants.
This game was not her forte. Password was. She fairly often gave off beat answers on this show
